Titanium Carbide Effects on the Fracture of Inconel 100—A Case Study

Mass cytometry,driven by CyTOF technology,uses antibodies labeled with monoisotopic metal tags,enabling high-resolution identification of discrete immune cell phenotypes and their *** advent of the antibody labeling method for seven cadmium and four platinum isotopes has enabled mass cytometry to expand the multiparametric characterization of single cells to 57 *** new possibilities afforded by these additional metal-tagged antibodies can be seen in their ability to both increase existing panel size and support new applications for innovative research *** have previously demonstrated that cadmium-labeled antibodies can effectively be used for livecell barcoding(LCB) of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) with antibodies targeting the pan-leukocyte protein *** LCB does not require prior fixation of cells,a major advantage of this approach is that it preserves the ability to multiplex-stain fix-sensitive *** this study,we have expanded upon the LCB approach by combining both cadmium and platinum-labeled anti-CD45 antibodies in a 7-choose-3,35-plex configuration to allow for added flexibility and customization of antibody ***,we observed similar results in LCB data quality on the new automated-acquisition CyTOF system when compared to the Helios mass *** enables the ability to run highly multiplexed barcoded samples for extended acquisition periods with less time needed supervising the ***,we show the use of LCB in human whole blood samples stained with the Maxpar Direct Immune Profiling ***,this work demonstrates added customizability and compatibility with existing workflows for live-cell barcoding,a powerful technique for improving data quality and increasing mass cytometry *** Research Use *** for use in diagnostic procedures.

Carbides and borides appear as minor phases in Inconel 100, although the carbon content (0.18%) is relatively high in comparison to other nickel-base superalloys. The material properties of this alloy depend on a number of interrelated microstructural parameters, including the volume fraction of γ' to γ, grain size, elemental distribution, and precipitation of carbides and borides. This study presents a characterization and a failure analysis of Inconel 100 samples loaded to fracture at 760℃ and an examination of their fractography. Chemical analysis, optical metallography, SEM and EDS were used for the characterization of the unusual areas of fracture that were found on the samples. The thermodynamic stability of TiC led to the conclusion that the possibility of creating very large, stable mono carbides, especially TiC carbide, during the production process is the reason for the short time to failure obtained in this work.

AIM: To assess the safety and efficacy of trans-arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) in very elderly patients. METHODS: A prospective cohort study, from 2001 to 2010, compared clinical outcomes following TACE between patients ≥ 75 years old and younger patients (aged between 65 and 75 years and younger than 65 years) with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), diagnosed according to the European Association for the Study of the Liver and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases criteria. The decision that patients were not candidates for curative therapy was made by a multidisciplinary HCC team. Data collected included demographics, co-morbidities, liver disease etiology, liver disease severity and the number of procedures. The primary outcome was mortality; secondary outcomes included post-embolization syndrome (nausea, fever, abdominal right upper quadrant pain, increase in liver enzymes with no evidence of sepsis and with a clinical course limited to 3-4 d post procedure) and 30-d complications. Additionally, changes in liver enzyme measurements were assessed [alanine and aspartate aminotransferase (ALT and AST), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase and alkaline phosphatase] in the week following TACE. Analysis employed both univariate and multivariate methods (Cox regression models). RESULTS: Of 102 patients who underwent TACE as sole treatment, 10 patients (9.8%) were > 80 years old at diagnosis; 13 (12.7%) were between 75 and 80 years, 45 (44.1%) were between 65 and 75 years and 34 (33.3%) were younger than 65 years. Survival analysis demonstrated similar survival patterns between the elderly patients and younger patients. Age was also not associated with the adverse event rate. Survival rates at 1, 2 and 3 years from diagnosis were 74%, 37% and 31% among patients < 65 years; 83%, 66% and 48% among patients aged 65 to 75 years; and 86%, 41% and 23% among patients ≥ 75 years. Background: Basosquamous carcinoma (BSC) is a rare non-melanoma skin cancer, considered to be a subtype of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). BSC often produces distant metastases with a higher risk of recurrence than that of BCC which is not commonly found in the lip. Case Report: A 57-year-old white female patient presented an ulcer on her lower lip that had an ongoing development for over six months. Physical examination, photo documentation, videoroscopy, scraped cytology, toluidine blue test, and biopsy of the ulcer were carried out. Results: Upon physical examination we observed an actinic cheilitis associated with the ulcer. Videoroscopy revealed the presence of fissures and erosion that had not been seen by oroscopy. Toluidine blue test was only positive for the region of the ulcer. Cytological analysis revealed rare nests compatible with carcinoma. Histopathology of the biopsy revealed a carcinoma with nests lined by basal cells associated with areas of squamous differentiation. The patient was then referred to surgery for the removal of the BCC. Analysis of the specimen showed free surgical margins and the immunohistochemical panel did not confirm the initial diagnosis of BCC, indicating a subtype of BSC. After surgery, the patient has been followed by periodic consultations. She is well and without further complications. Coments: BSC is considered to be an aggressive and rare tumor affecting mainly upper face and primarily affects men over 60 years of age. Since our patient is a woman presenting the lesion in the lower lip, this highlights the unusual and interesting presentation of this case report.

Efficient Noninvasive FHB Estimation using RGB Images from a Novel Multiyear,Multirater Dataset

Fusarium head blight(FHB)is one of the most prevalent wheat diseases,causing substantial yield losses and health *** phenotyping of FHB is crucial for accelerating resistance breeding,but currently used methods are time-consuming and *** present article suggests a noninvasive classification model for FHB severity estimation using red–green–blue(RGB)images,without requiring extensive *** model accepts images taken from consumer-grade,low-cost RGB cameras and classifies the FHB severity into 6 ordinal *** addition,we introduce a novel dataset consisting of around 3,000 images from 3 different years(2020,2021,and 2022)and 2 FHB severity assessments per image from independent *** used a pretrained EfficientNet(size b0),redesigned as a regression *** results demonstrate that the interrater reliability(cohen’s kappa,κ)is substantially lower than the achieved individual network-to-rater results,e.g.,0.68 and 0.76 for the data captured in 2020,*** model shows a generalization effect when trained with data from multiple years and tested on data from an independent ***,using the images from 2020 and 2021 for training and 2022 for testing,we improved the F_(1)^(w) score by 0.14,the accuracy by 0.11,κ by 0.12,and reduced the root mean squared error by 0.5 compared to the best network trained only on a single year’s *** proposed lightweight model and methods could be deployed on mobile devices to automatically and objectively assess FHB severity with images from low-cost RGB *** source code and the dataset are available at https://***/cvims/FHB_classification.
