ky Boost Converter, a m.dern invention in the field of non-isolated DC-DC boost converter is identified for m.nim.m.voltage ripple. ky boost converter is the com. bination of ky converter and traditional boost converter. Such a converter has con- tinuous input and output inductor current, different from.the traditional boost con- verter. And hence this converter is very suitable for very low-ripple applications. The Particle Swarm.Optim.zation (PSO) based controller, FUZZY based controller and open loop ky boost converter are designed in m.TLAB/Sim.link m.del. The sim.- lated results show a reduction in output ripple from.1.18 V of the existing open loop ky boost converter output to 0.54 V in the FUZZY logic controlled converter out- put. Further reduction in output ripple to 0.29 V is achieved in the proposed PSO based converter. The sim.lated results also show the variation of switching pulses based on the different existing and proposed m.thod.

The Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt(EKOB)in the Northern Tibet Plateau hosts a wide variety of m.tal deposits related to the Late Paleozoic to m.sozoic *** this study,we investigate the spatiotem.oral distribution of the Late Paleozoic to m.sozoic granitic rocks and associated m.tal deposits in the EKOB and provide a com.rehensive com.ilation of the geochronological,geochem.cal and isotopic data on these *** com.ute regional zircon Hf isotope and crustal thickness m.ps from.the data,based on which a com.rehensive m.del is proposed involving subduction(ca.270–240 m.),continental collision(ca.240–224 m.),and post-collisional extension(ca.224–200 m.)for the Late Paleozoic to m.sozoic Paleo-Tethys evolution in the *** Hf isotopic and crustal thickness m.pping of Late Paleozoic to m.sozoic m.gm.tic rocks was carried out to evaluate their spatio-tem.oral and genetic links with the regional *** polym.tallic Fe-skarn and porphyry Cu(m.)deposits in the EKOB are located above the m.ho uplift region,featuring a com.aratively thin *** associated with porphyry Cu(m.)and polym.tallic Fe skarn m.neralization are com.only characterized by highε_(Hf)(t)and younger T_(Dm.cvalues,whereas granite related to Cu-m.-Sn skarn deposits exhibit m.re variableε_(Hf)(t)values,T_(Dm.c ages,and the crust thickness,which suggest that m.re crustal m.terials contributed to the form.tion of Cu-m.-Sn skarn deposits than those for porphyry Cu(m.)and polym.tallic Fe skarn *** contrast,vein-type Au deposits are located prim.rily where the m.ho surface displays a depression,i.e.,where the continental crust is relatively *** m.gm.tic rocks associated with Au m.neralization are characterized by lowε_(Hf)(t)and high T_(Dm.cvalues,representing reworked ancient crustal com.onents,sim.lar to those associated with porphyry m. and epitherm.l Ag-Pb-Zn-(Au)*** study indicates that the em.lacem.nt of m.gm.tic-hydrotherm.l deposits was controlled

Diam.nd-like carbon(DLC) coatings have attracted m.ch attention due to their excellent hardness,low friction,and superior corrosion ***,the poor adhesion caused by internal stress lim.ts the typical thickness to below 3 μ*** paper presents a novel interlayer design and interface engineering and the induced excellent adhesion of thick diam.nd-like carbon(DLC) coatings on a high speed steel *** interlayer has fundam.ntally a graded Cr/CrC/CrC/DLC structure,but various treatm.nts to the hetero-interfaces have been conducted including sequential energetic ion bom.ardm.nts with Cr at the substrate/Cr interface using high-power im.ulse m.gnetron sputtering(HiPIm.) and with C at the CrC/DLC interface using an anode layer ion *** has been observed that the critical load has been im.roved from.18 N for a single Cr interlayer to 77 N for a Cr/CrCx/CrC interlayer for thick DLC coatings of 13 μ*** the sam. design,a very high critical load of 73 N has been achieved on the ultra-thick DLC coating of 50 μ*** interlayer design has allowed the deposition of a DLC coating that is not only thick but also hard with excellent tribological *** DLC coatings have a high hardness of >18 GPa,a low friction coefficient of 0.12 and a low wear rate of(1.7±0.2)×10 m.N·*** paper discusses the effect of the ion bom.ardm.nt of the interlayer on the coating adhesion and the strengthening m.chanism..

Aim. To com.are the recovery rate of m.rphologically norm.l and chrom.tin condensed sperm.tozoa from.native se-m.n sam.les using the Sperm.rep^(Tm. filtration colum.s and Percoll gradient centrifugation and to determ.ne the influenceof the two processing techniques on fertilization and pregnancy rates in an IVF-ET program. m.thods: Sixteen se-m.n sam.les obtained from.patient's husband were included in this study. Each was divided into two aliquots. The firstaliquot was processed with Sperm.rep^(Tm. filtration colum.s and the second, Percoll gradient centrifugation. Sm.ars werem.de before and after sem.n processing with both m.thods for the evaluation of chrom.tin condensation (chrom.m.cineCm.3) as well as m.rphology (strict criteria) of sperm.tozoa. One hundred and seventy oocytes were retrieved from.he patients and the oocytes from.each patient were subdivided into two sets : one set was insem.nated using sperm.tozoaprocessed with Sperm.rep^(Tm. and the other insem.nated after sem.n processing with Percoll gradient centrifugation. Re-sults: The Percoll m.thod yielded a significantly higher percentage of chrom.tin condensed (90.8 ±6.5% vs 82.3±8.8%, P = 0.017) and m.rphologically norm.l sperm.tozoa (12.9±7.4% vs 6.9±4.8%, P =0.001) in com.parison to Sperm.rep^(Tm.. Whereas, sperm.count recovery rate was significantly higher after the use of Sperm.rep^(Tm. thanafter the Percoll gradient centrifugation. The fertilization rate was sim.lar between the two m.thods. Conclusion:Sem.n processing with Percoll should be recom.ended for intracytoplasm.c sperm.injection as the natural selection isbypassed and the Sperm.rep^(Tm. technique could be recom.ended for IVF and IUI program. as the sperm.concentrationplays a m.re significant role in these procedures.

Genetic m.nipulation of cellulose biosynthesis in trees m.y provide novel insights into the growth and developm.nt of trees. To explore this possibility, the overexpression of an aspen secondary wall-associated cellulose synthase （PtdCesAS） gene was attem.ted in transgenic aspen （Populus trem.loides L.） and unexpectedly resulted in silencing of the transgene as well as its endogenous counterparts. The m.in axis of the transgenic aspen plants quickly stopped growing, and weak branches adopted a weeping growth habit. Furtherm.re, transgenic plants initially developed sm.ller leaves and a less extensive root system. Secondary xylem.（wood） of transgenic aspen plants contained as little as 10% cellulose norm.lized to dry weight com.ared to 41% cellulose typically found in norm.l aspen wood. This m.ssive reduction in cellulose was accom.anied by proportional increases in lignin （35%） and non-cellulosic polysaccharides （55%） com.ared to the 22% lignin and 36% non-cellulosic polysaccharides in control plants. The transgenic stem. pro- duced typical collapsed or ＇irregular＇ xylem.vessels that had altered secondary wall m.rphology and contained greatly reduced am.unts of crystalline cellulose. These results dem.nstrate the fundam.ntal role of secondary wall cellulose within the secondary xylem.in m.intaining the strength and structural integrity required to establish the vertical growth habit in trees.
