Diagenetic history and porosity evolution of the Middle Permian clastic-carbonate mixed system,Indus Basin,Pakistan:Implications for reservoir development

This study deals with unraveling the diagenesis-induced porosity evolution in a mixed clastic-carbonate sequence of the Middle Permian Indus Basin,*** data sets including outcrop,petrography,cathodoluminescence,scanning electron microscopy(sEM),mineralogy,and geochemical isotopic compositions were integrated to establish a link between porosity evolution and *** spatial thickness and facies variations of the strata at outcrop scale are inherently controlled by the underlying bathymetry of the basin with deepening westward *** low values ofδ^(18)O of the target strata,relative to average values of the Permian carbonate,hints to diagenetic alteration in the *** data sets used in this study reveal modification of the strata in four environments,that is,i)early marine diagenesis indicated by micritization,pervasive dolomitization and isopachous fibrous cements,followed by ii)meteoric dissolution,and iii)shallow burial diagenetic processes including the precipitation of blocky cement,compaction of skeletal and non-skeletal allochems,and stylolites,and iv)a deep burial environment,characterized by pressure solution,and *** clastic intervals host subangular to subrounded quartz grains,floating textures,and almost complete absence of deleterious clay minerals,consequently resulting in the preservation of primary *** primary porosity of carbonate intervals is preserved in the form of intercrystalline and intracrystalline *** secondary porosity evolved through various diagenetic phases in the form of fractures and *** diagenetic solution mediated by organic matter in carbonates may have experienced both bacterial decomposition and thermochemical sulfate reduction,precipitating sulfides within the *** plug porosity/permeability analyses generally suggest high porosity in the siliciclastic unit,and carbonates with wackestone fabric while lower values were observed for the inner shelf pure

Nature's contributions to people(NCP)encompass both the beneficial and detrimental effects of living nature on human quality of life,including regulatory,material,and non-material ***,vital NCPs have been deteriorating,accelerated by changes in both natural and anthropogenic drivers over recent *** the often inevitable trade-offs between NCPs due to their spatially and temporally uneven distributions,few studies have quantitatively assessed the impacts of different drivers on the spatial and temporal changes in multiple NCPs and their *** we evaluate the effects of precipitation,temperature,population,gross domestic product,vegetation restoration,and urban expansion on four key regulatory NCPs-habitat maintenance,climate regulation,water quantity regulation,and soil protection-in Nei Mongol at the county *** observe increasing trends in climate regulation and soil protection from 2000 to 2019,contrasted with declining trends in habitat maintenance and water quantity *** have identified the dominant positive and negative drivers influencing each NCP across individual counties,finding that natural drivers predominantly overpowered anthropogenic ***,we discover significant spatial disparities in the tradeoff or synergy relationships between NCPs across the *** findings illustrate how the impacts of various drivers on NCPs and their interrelationships can be quantitatively evaluated,offering significant potential for application in various spatial *** an understanding of trade-offs and scale effects,these insights are expected to support and inform policymaking at both county and provincial levels.

Distortions in focusing laser pulses due to spatio-temporal couplings:an analytic description

In ultra-short laser pulses,small changes in dispersion properties before the final focusing mirror can lead to severe pulse distortions around the focus and therefore to very different pulse properties at the point of laser±matter interaction,yielding unexpected interaction *** mapping between far-and near-field laser properties intricately depends on the spatial and angular dispersion properties as well as the focal *** a focused Gaussian laser pulse under the influence of angular,spatial and group-delay dispersion,we derive analytical expressions for its pulse-front tilt,duration and width from a fully analytic expression for its electric field in the time±space domain obtained with scalar diffraction *** expression is not only valid in and near the focus but also along the entire propagation distance from the focusing mirror to the *** relating angular,spatial and group-delay dispersion before focusing at an off-axis parabola,where they are well measurable,to the respective values in the pulse’s focus are obtained by a ray tracing ***,these formulas are used to show in example setups that the pulse-front tilts of lasers with small initial dispersion can become several tens of degrees larger in the vicinity of the focus while being small directly in the *** formulas derived here provide the analytical foundation for observations previously made in numerical *** numerically simulating Gaussian pulse propagation and measuring properties of the pulse at distances several Rayleigh lengths off the focus,we verify the analytic expressions.

Obesity is one of the diseases with severe health consequences and rapidly increasing worldwide *** the complex network of food intake and energy balance regulation is an essential prerequisite for pharmacological intervention with obesity.G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs)are among the main modulators of metabolism and energy ***,for instance,regulate appetite and satiety in certain hypothalamic neurons,as well as glucose and lipid metabolism and hormone secretion from *** in some GPCRs,such as the melanocortin receptor type 4(MC4R),have been associated with early-onset ***,we identified the adhesion GPCR latrophilin 1(ADGRL1/LPHN1)as a member of the regulating network governing food intake and the maintenance of energy *** of the highly conserved receptor in mice results in increased food consumption and severe obesity,accompanied by dysregulation of glucose ***,we identified a partially inactivating mutation in human ADGRL1/LPHN1 in a patient suffering from ***,we propose that LPHN1 dysfunction is a risk factor for obesity development.

Pressureless sintering of ZrC with variable stoichiometry

This paper presents the experiments on the synthesis of zirconium carbide (ZrC) using carbothermal reduction of zirconia (ZrO2).The ratio of ZrO2∶C is used to adapt ZrCxOy with x＜ 1 or ZrC + *** modification of ZrCxOy and the total carbon amount allows the use of pressureless sintering method in combination with sintering temperatures ≤ 2000 ℃.Fully densified ZrC products are *** relevant details of ZrC formation are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD).The sintered products are characterized by XRD,field emission scanning electron microscopy (FEsEM),as well as mechanical and electrical *** and FEsEM investigations show that ZrCxOy is formed during the manufacturing *** grain size and additional zirconia or carbon are related to the ZrO2∶C ratio of the starting powder *** strength up to 300 MPa,Young's modulus up to 400 GPa,fracture toughness up to 4.1 MPa·m1/2,and electrical resistance at room temperature around 10-4 Ω.cm are reached by the pressureless sintered ZrC.

A conserved arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal core-species community colonizes potato roots in the Andes

Plant-symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are of high global ecological and economic importance,but describing environmental communities of AMF at the species level remains a challenge,despite the need to understand AMF-plant preferences and to apply AMF in sustainable ***,the potato-associated AMF species community composition was assessed for three Andean countries along an altitudinal gradient and at different plant stages,by using 454 Gs-FLX+sequencing of a 760 bp LsU rRNA gene PCR *** methods were compared:defining OTUs based on a simple sequence similarity threshold,or affiliating reference sequences to species based on a high throughput phylogenetic annotation approach using an evolutionary placement algorithm(EPA).The EPA-based approach was not only more precise,but also fundamental to robustly unveil the AMF species community *** principal advantage of this approach was also demonstrated by using artificially constructed datasets based on validated public database *** affiliation of sequence reads to species using phylogenetic annotation revealed a surprisingly conserved AMF core-species community structure in Andean potatoes,regardless of different plant stages and environmental *** total,41 species were detected and in some cases more than 25 species were found colonizing an individual root *** species were identified as dominant colonizers,co-occurring with Cetraspora nodosa and certain Claroideoglomus and Rhizophagus species in most potato root samples.

Value of three-dimensional reconstructions in pancreatic carcinoma using multidetector CT:Initial results

AIM:To evaluate the use of three-dimensional imaging of pancreatic carcinoma using multidetector computed tomography(CT)in a prospective ***:Ten patients with suspected pancreatic tumors were examined prospectively using multidetec-tor CT(somatom sensation 16,siemens,Erlangen,Germany).The images were evaluated for the pres-ence of a pancreatic carcinoma and invasion of the peripancreatic vessels and surrounding *** the isotropic CT data sets,a three-dimensional image was created with automatic vascular analysis and semi-automatic segmentation of the organs and pancreatic tumor by a *** CT examinations and the three-dimensional images were presented to the sur-geon directly before and during the patient's operation using the Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit-based software "ReLiver".Immediately after surgery,the value of the two images was judged by the *** operation and the histological results served as the gold ***:Nine patients had a pancreatic carcinoma(all pT3),and one patient had a serous *** tumor inf iltrated the superior mesenteric *** inf iltration was correctly *** carcinomas were *** comparison to the CT image with axial and coronal reconstructions,the three-dimensional image was judged by the surgeons as better for operation planning and consistently described as ***:A 3D-image of the pancreas repre-sents an invaluable aid to the ***,the 3D-software must be further developed in order to be integrated into daily clinical routine.

A major feature of humans is that they can attain much higher population densities than any non-domestic animal species of similar body size(Damuth 1987).This is most likely due to the invention of agriculture(Herrera and Garcia-Bertrand 2018),which allowed humans to manage ecosystems in such a way that as much biomass as possible is converted into food(Vitousek et al.1986).

Adiponectin and its receptors in rodent models of fatty liver disease and liver cirrhosis

AIM： To determine circulating and hepatic adiponectin in rodents with fatty liver disease or liver cirrhosis and investigate expression of the adiponectin receptors AdipoR1 on the mRNA and protein level and AdipoR2 on the mRNA level. METHODs： Fat fed rats were used as a model for fatty liver disease and bile duct ligation in mice to investigate cirrhotic liver. Expression of AdipoR1 and AdipoR2 mRNA was determined by real time RT-PCR. AdipoR1 protein was analysed by immunoblot. Adiponectin was measured by ELIsA. REsULTs： systemic adiponectin is reduced in fatfed rats but is elevated in mice after bile duct ligation （BDL）. Hepatic adiponectin protein is lower in steatotic liver but not in the liver of BE）L-mice when compared to controls. Adiponectin mRNA was not detected in human liver samples or primary human hepatocytes nor in rat liver but recombinant adiponectin is taken up by isolated hepatocytes in-vitro. AdipoR1 mRNA and AdipoR1 protein levels are similar in the liver tissue of control and fat fed animals whereas AdipoR2 mRNA is induced. AdipoR2 mRNA and AdipoR1 mRNA and protein is suppressed in the liver of BDL-mice. CONCLUsION： Our studies show reduced circulating adiponectin in a rat model of fatty liver disease whereas circulating adiponectin is elevated in a mouse model of cirrhosis and similar findings have been described in humans. Diminished hepatic expression of adiponectin receptors was only found in liver cirrhosis.
