Atherosclerosis(AS)is the main pathological ba.is of cardiovascular ***,the prevention and treatment strategies of AS have attracted great research *** a potential probiotic,Pararaba.teroides distasonis has a positive regulatory effect on lipid metabolism and bile acids(ba.)*** procyanidins have been confirmed to be conducive to the prevention and treatment of AS,whose antiatherosclerotic effect may be associated with the promotion of gut ***,it remains unclear whether and how oligomeric procyanidins and *** combined(PPC)treatment can effectively alleviate high-fat diet(HFD)-induced *** this study,PPC treatment was found to significantly decrease atherosclerotic lesion,as well as alleviate the lipid metabolism disorder,inflammation and oxidative stress injury in ApoE^(-/-)***,targeted metabolomics demonstrated that PPC intervention altered the ba.profile in mice by regulating the ratio of secondary ba. to primary ba.,and increased fecal ba. ***,quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)analysis showed that PPC intervention facilitated reverse cholesterol transport by upregulating Srb1 expression;In addition,PPC intervention promoted ba.synthesis from cholesterol in liver by upregulating Cyp7a1 expression via suppression of the farnesoid X receptor(FXR)pathway,thus exhibiting a significant serum cholesterol-lowering *** summary,PPC attenuated HFD-induced AS in ApoE^(-/-)mice,which provides new insights into the design of novel and efficient anti-atherosclerotic strategies to prevent AS ba.ed on probiotics and prebiotics.

Multi-hazard disaster scenario method and emergency management for urba. resilience by integrating experiment-simulation-field data

Due to the frequent occurrence of multi-hazard disasters worldwide in recent years,effective multi-hazard sce-nario analysis is imperative for disaster rescue and emergency *** response procedure for different single hazards were investigated and formulated ***,the investigations of disaster scenario rarely systematically address the entire development and response process of multi-hazards,including the coupling mechanisms,evolution dynamics,scenario assessment and emergency *** this end,this paper presents our methodology of multi-hazard disaster scenario that integrates experiment-simulation-field data,focusing on three dimensions consisting of multi-hazard coupling,structures and systems,and emergency *** newly proposed scenario method mainly comprises three aspects:experiments and simulations,multi-hazard field investigation,scenario analysis and ***,in order to study the large-scale,high-intensity and multi-hazard coupling effects,we carried out reduced-scale experiments and field measurement experiments to develop experimental similarity theory and prototype simulations of *** addition,a variety of field rescue and survey equipment,such as robots,Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV),and Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality(VR/AR)technologies were utilized to acquire real-time data of multi-hazard ***,we also examine the mechanism and framework of multi-hazard scenarios to formulate the detailed procedures of man-agement and *** are incorporated with the experiments,simulations,field data and models to con-struct a new scenario *** proposed scenario method was applied in a case study of the coupled wind and snow multi-hazard to verify its *** new method contributes to the disaster relief,decision-making and emergency management for multi-hazard disaster to improve the urba. resilience.

Rethinking the urba. resilience:Extension and connotation

In recent years,urba. resilience has attracted increasing attention from researchers and managers from the international community at the national,regional,and urba. *** multi-dimensional and cross-disciplinary investigations,campaigns,and outlines have significantly promoted the development goal of re-silience in cities ***,the existing definitions and interpretations of urba. resilience still call for a more comprehensive,systematic,and exhaustive analysis as urba.ization accelerates and the complex risks of various safety events *** this end,we rethink the extension and connotation of urba. resilience ba.ed on a review and analysis of critical hotspots,realistic demand,and development trends.A conceptual classification with three aspects and three typical tiers of urba. resilience is proposed,which further promotes a new definition and interpretation by incorporating the resilience extension of urba. *** addition,the six-dimensional characteristics are extracted to furnish the urba. resilience connotation,and four-stage improvement measures are introduced *** addition,the newly developed urba. resilience is applied to a case analysis of a large-scale disaster,which demonstrates the necessity and significance of this *** new extension and connotation investigation will be helpful for the improvement and implementation of urba. resilience,thereby guiding the construction of resilient cities.

Preparation and Microstructure of Green Ceramsite Made from Sewage Sludge

A pilot study was conducted to produce high performance green ceramsite by using sewage sludge, fly ash and silt. According to the theory of Riley, the proportions of raw materials were chosen to perform the sintering experiments. Thereby, the optimum proportion of sludge, fly ash and silt and sintering parameters were determined. The microstructure of the optimized mixture and the leaching of heavy metal elements were also analyzed. The lab testing results show that sintering parameters have significant impact on the performance of ceramsite. For solid waste ceramsite with high loss of ignition, inadequate pre-burning process lowers the strength and increases the water absorption. Low water absorption can be achieved by the enameled surface and closed pore structure. The high performance green ceramsite has the density grade of 700, water absorption of 6% and compressive strength of 6.6 MPa. The ceramsite is mainly composed of cristoba.ite and mullite. The leaching of heavy metal elements from the solid waste ceramsite are lower than the limits required by the national standard. This study shows that the utilization of solid waste ceramsite as the light Weight aggregate is feasible and safe.

Randomized controlled trial of minimally invasive surgery using acellular dermal matrix for complex anorectal fistula

AIM: To compare the efficacy and safety of acellular dermal matrix (ADM) bioprosthetic material and endorectal advancement flap (ERAF) in treatment of complex anorectal fistula. METHODS: Ninety consecutive patients with complex anorectal fistulae admitted to Anorectal Surgical Department of First Affi liated Hospital, Xinjiang Medical University from March 2008 to July 2009, were enrolled in this study. Complex anorectal fistula was diagnosed following its clinical, radiographic, or endoscopic diagnostic criteria. Under spinal anesthesia, patients underwent identification and irrigation of the fistula tracts using hydrogen peroxide. ADM was securely sutured at the secondary opening to the primary opening using absorba.le suture. Outcomes of ADM and ERAF closure werecompared in terms of success rate, fecal incontinence rate, anorectal deformity rate, postoperative pain time, closure time and life quality score. Success was defined as closure of all external openings, absence of drainage without further intervention, and absence of abscess formation. Follow-up examination was performed 2 d, 2, 4, 6, 12 wk, and 5 mo after surgery, respectively. RESULTS: No patient was lost to follow-up. The overall success rate was 82.22% (37/45) 5.7 mo after surgery. ADM dislodgement occured in 5 patients (11.11%), abscess formation was found in 1 patient, and fistula recurred in 2 patients. Of the 13 patients with recurrent fistula using ERAF, 5 (11.11%) received surgical drainage because of abscess formation. The success rate, postoperative pain time and closure time of ADM were significantly higher than those of ERAF (P < 0.05). However, no difference was observed in fecal incontinence rate and anorectal deformity rate after treatment with ADM and ERAF. CONCLUSION: Closure of fistula tract opening with ADM is an effective procedure for complex anorectal fistula. ADM should be considered a first line treatment for patients with complex anorectal fistula.

Effects of Mg Incorporation on Microstructure and Optical Properties of ZnO Thin Films Prepared by Sol-gel Method

Well-crystallized MgZnO alloy thin films with hexagonal wurtzite structure were fabricated by sol-gel method. With the ba.d gap increases, the surface roughness and the grain size reduces. It is worth noting that the intensity of the ba.d-edge luminescence of Mg doped films enhances with the increase of the Mg content. The microstructure and photoluminescence mechanism have been discussed ba.ed on X-ray diffraction patterns, atomic force microscopy images, ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra, photoluminescence spectra and Fourier transform infrared spectra.

The microstructural evolution and tensile properties of Ti-3Al-8V-6Cr-4Mo-xZr（x = 0,2,4 and 6） titanium alloys were *** precipitated phases and tensile fracture morphologies were observed using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron *** results show that the presence of trace impurity Si and the addition of Zr induce the formation of（TiZr）_6Si_3 *** quantity of silicides increases with Zr content *** dispersed silicides refined the grain size of β Zr-containing alloys,and the grain size decreases significantly with Zr content *** these microstructural changes,the strength of the alloys is enhanced gradually with the increase of Zr content,which is attributed to the combination of precipitation strengthening and grain refinement.
