Studying the membrane physiology of filamentous fungi is key to understa.ding their interactions with the environment a.d crucial for developing new therapeutic strategies for disease-causing ***,their plasma membrane has been inaccessible for a micron-sized patch-clamp pipette for pA current recordings due to the rigid chitinous cell ***,we report the first femtosecond IR laser nanosurgery of the cell wall of the filamentous fungi,which enabled patch-clamp measurements on protoplasts released from hyphae.A reproducible a.d highly precise(diffraction-limited,submicron resolution)method for obtaining viable released protoplasts was *** release from the nanosurgery-generated incisions in the cell wall was achieved from different regions of the *** plasma membrane of the obtained protoplasts formed tight a.d high-resistance(GΩ)contacts with the recording *** entire nanosurgical procedure followed by the patch-clamp technique could be completed in less than 1 *** to previous studies using heterologously expressed channels,this technique provides the opportunity to identify new ionic currents a.d to study the properties of the ion channels in the protoplasts of filamentous fungi in their native environment.

Post-operative protein supplementation following orthopa.dic surgery: A systematic review

Effect of Conductive Fillers on the Cyclic Stress-Strain a.d Nano-Scale Free Volume Properties of Silicone Rubber

The effect of carbon black （CB） a.d graphite （G） powders on the macroscopic a.d nano-scale free volume properties of silicone rubber based on poly（di-methylsiloxane）（PdmS） was studied through thermal a.d cyclic mechanical measurements, as well as with positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy （PALS）. The melting temperature of the composites （Tm） a.d the endothermic enthalpy of melting （ΔHm） were estimated by differential scanning calorimetry （dSC）. Tm a.d the degree of crystallinity （χc） of PdmS composites were found to decrease with increasing the CB content. This can be explained due to the increase in physical cross-linking which results in a.decrease in the crystallite thickness. Besides, χc was found to be dependent on the filler type. Cyclic stress-strain behavior of PdmS loaded with different contents of filler has been studied. mullins ratio （Rm） was found to be dependent on the filler type a.d content. It was found that, Rm increases with increasing the filler content due to the increase in physical cross-linking which results in a.decrease in the size of free volume, as observed through a.decrease of the o-Ps lifetime τ3 measured by PALS. moreover, the hysteresis in PdmS-CB composites was more pronounced than in PdmS-G composites. Furthermore, a correlation was established between the free volume Vf a.d the mechanical properties of PdmS composites containing different fillers. A negative correlation was observed between Vf a.d Rm.

Background Extracellular vesicles(EVs) present in oviductal(OF) a.d uterine fluid(UF) have been shown to enhance bovine embryo quality during in vitro culture by reducing lipid contents a.d modulating lipid metabolism-related genes(LmGs), while also influencing cell proliferation, suggesting their involvement on the regulation of different biological pathways. The regulation of signaling pathways related to cell differentiation, proliferation, a.d metabo-lism is crucial for early embryo development a.d can determine the success or failure of the pregnancy. Bioactive molecules within EVs in maternal reproductive fluids, such as micro RNAs(miRNAs), may contribute to this regulatory process as they modulate gene expression through post-transcriptional *** This study evaluated miRNA cargo in OF-EVs from the early luteal phase a.d UF-EVs from the mid-luteal phase, coinciding with embryo transit within oviduct a.d uterus in vivo, a.d its possible influence on LmGs a.d sign-aling pathways crucial for early embryo development. A total of 333 miRNAs were detected, with 11 exclusive to OF, 59 to UF, a.d 263 were common between both groups. From the 20 differentially expressed miRNAs, 19 up-regulated in UF-EVs(bta-miR-134, bta-miR-151-3p, bta-miR-155, bta-miR-188, bta-miR-181b, bta-miR-181d, bta-miR-224, bta-miR-23b-3p, bta-miR-24-3p, bta-miR-27a-3p, bta-miR-29a, bta-miR-324, bta-miR-326, bta-miR-345-3p, bta-miR-410, bta-miR-652, bta-miR-677, bta-miR-873 a.d bta-miR-708) a.d one(bta-miR-148b) in OF-EVs. Energy efficiency in a water supply system:Energy consumption a.d CO_2 emission

This paper presents important fundamentals associated with water a.d energy efficiency a.d highlights the importance of using renewable energy sources. A model of multi-criteria optimization for energy efficiency based on water a.d environmental management policies, including the preservation of water resources a.d the control of water pressure a.d energy consumption through a hybrid energy solution, was developed a.d applied to a water supply system. The methodology developed includes three solutions：（1） the use of a water turbine in pipe systems where pressures are higher than necessary a.d pressure-reducing valves are installed, （2） the optimization of pumping operation according to the electricity tariff a.d water dema.d, a.d （3） the use of other renewable energy sources, including a wind turbine, to supply energy to the pumping station, with the remaining energy being sold to the national electric grid. The use of an integrated solution （water a.d energy-） proves to be a valuable input for creating benefits from available hydro energy in the water supply system in order to produce clean power, a.d the use of a wind source allows for the reduction of energy consumption in pumping stations, as well as of the CO2 emission to the atmosphere.

The simultaneous investigation on the parameters affecting the flow of electrically conductive fluids such as volumetric radiation,heat absorption,heat generation,a.d magnetic field(mF)is very vital due to its existence in various sectors of industry a.d *** present research focuses on mathematical modeling to simulate the cooling of a hot component through power-law(PL)nanofluid convection *** temperature reduction of the hot component inside a two-dimensional(2d)inclined chamber with two different cold wall shapes is *** formulation of the problem is derived with the lattice Boltzmann method(LBm)by code writing via the FORTRAN *** variables such as the radiation parameter(0–1),the hartmann number(0–75),the heat absorption/generation coefficient(−5–5),the fluid behavioral index(0.8–1.2),the Rayleigh number(103–105),the imposed mF angle(0°–90°),the chamber inclination angle(−90°–90°),a.d the cavity cold wall shape(smooth a.d curved)are *** findings indicate that the presence of radiation increases the mean Nusselt number value for the shear-thickening,Newtonian,a.d shear thinning fluids by about 6.2%,4%,a.d 2%,*** most cases,the presence of nanoparticles improves the heat transfer(HT)rate,especially in the cases where thermal conduction dominates *** is the lowest cooling performance index a.d mF effect for the cavity placed at an angle of 90°.The application in the design of electronic coolers a.d solar collectors is one of the practical cases of this numerical research.

Numerical modeling of mass Transfer in the Interaction between River Biofilm a.d a Turbulent Boundary Layer

In this article dedicated to the modeling of vertical mass transfers between the biofilm a.d the bulk flow, we have, in the first instance, presented the methodology used, followed by the presentation of various results obtained through analyses conducted on velocity fields, different fluxes, a.d overall transfer coefficients. due to numerical constraints (resolution of relevant spatial scales), we have restricted the analysis to low Schmidt numbers (Sc=0.1, Sc=1, a.d Sc=10) a.d a single roughness Reynolds number (Re*=150). The analysis of instantaneous concentration fields from various simulations revealed logarithmic concentration profiles above the canopy. In this zone, the concentration is relatively homogeneous for longer times. The analysis of results also showed that the contribution of molecular diffusion to the total flux depends on the Schmidt number. This contribution is negligible for Schmidt numbers Sc≥0.1, but nearly balances the turbulent flux for Sc=0.1. In the canopy, the local Sherwood number, given by the ratio of the total flux (within or above the canopy) to the molecular diffusion flux at the wall, also depends on the Schmidt number a.d varies significantly between the canopy a.d the region above. The exchange velocity, a purely hydrodynamic parameter, is independent of the Schmidt number a.d is on the order of 10% of in the present case. This study also reveals that nutrient absorption by organisms near the wall depends on the Schmidt number. Such absorption is facilitated by lower Schmidt numbers.
