Hospital outcomes and early readmission for the most common gastrointestinal and liver diseases in the United States:Implications for healthcare delivery

BACkGROUND Gastrointestinal(GI)and liver diseases contribute to substantial inpatient morbidity,mortality,and healthcare resource *** ways to reduce the economic burden of healthcare costs and the impact of these diseases is of crucial ***-day readmission rates and related hospital outcomes can serve as objective measures to assess the impact of and provide further insights into the most common GI *** To identify the thirty-day readmission rates with related predictors and outcomes of hospitalization of the most common GI and liver diseases in the United *** A cross-sectional analysis of the 2012 National Inpatient Sample was performed to identify the 13 most common GI *** 2013 Nationwide Readmission Database was then queried with specific International Classification of Diseases,Ninth Revision,Clinical Modification *** outcomes were mortality(index admission,calendar-year),hospitalization costs,and thirty-day readmission and secondary outcomes were predictors of thirty-day *** For the year 2013,the thirteen most common GI diseases contributed to 2.4 million index hospitalizations accounting for about$25 *** thirty-day readmission rates were highest for chronic liver disease(25.4%),Clostridium difficile(***)infection(23.6%),functional/motility disorders(18.5%),inflammatory bowel disease(16.3%),and GI bleeding(15.5%).The highest index and subsequent calendar-year hospitalization mortality rates were chronic liver disease(6.1%and 12.6%),*** infection(2.3%and 6.1%),and GI bleeding(2.2%and 5.0%),***-day readmission correlated with any subsequent admission mortality(r=0.798,P=0.001).Medicare/Medicaid insurances,≥3 Elixhauser comorbidities,and length of stay>3 d were significantly associated with thirty-day readmission for all the thirteen GI *** Preventable and non-chronic GI disease contributed to a significant economic and health

Objectives:The objectives of this study were to assess the knowledge and practice skills on home-based urinary catheter care among parents of under-five children with urinary *** and Methods:This cross-sectional study was conducted from June 1,2021,to September 11,2021,in a tertiary hospital in north *** sampling was used to select 50 *** instruments were employed for data collection after fulfilling sample criteria;for baseline information demographic tool,knowledge questionnaires,and a practice *** were analyzed using descriptive and inferential ***:On assessment of 50 participants,the majority of parents aged above 30 years(74%).Most of the participants were male(82%),graduated(38%),and working in the private sector(58%).Similarly,two-thirds of participants were residing in a nuclear family(64%)with a single child 32(64%)and family incomeknowledge was 1.94±0.81 and that of practice skills was 1.98±0.85 on home-based *** analysis showed that knowledge of parents was significantly associated with qualification(β:1.821,P=0.002).Similarly,association of practice skills of parents with gender(β:1.235,P=0.050)and qualification(β:1.889,P=0.00)was ***:The general findings of our study showed that parents’education and occupation played a significant role in a child’s *** education and catheter care skills positively affect the child and reduce readmission rates.

The concept of a fuzzy topology on a fuzzy set has been introduced in [1]. The aim of this work is to introduce fuzzy δ*-continuity and fuzzy δ**-continuity in this in new situation and to show the relationships between fuzzy continuous functions where we confine our study to some of their types such as, fuzzy δ-continuity, fuzzy continuity, after presenting the definition of a fuzzy topology on a fuzzy set and giving some properties related to it.

Polygonum minus ethanolic extracts attenuate cisplatin-induced oxidative stress in the cerebral cortex of rats via its antioxidant properties

Objective: To explore the protective effect of Polygonum minus ethanolic extract on cisplatininduced ***: In vitro test, total phenolic content assay and DPPH assay were performed to determine the antioxidant activity of Polygonum minus. For in vivo test, 30 male SpragueDawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: the control group, cisplatin 10 mg/kg, Polygonum minus 100 mg/kg, Polygonum minus 200 mg/kg and Polygonum minus 400 mg/kg. The control group and the cisplatin group were given distilled water whereas Polygonum minus groups received the respective dose of Polygonum minus extract orally for 14 d. On day 15, a single intraperitoneal administration of normal saline was given to the control group; while 10 mg/kg of cisplatin was given to the cisplatin group and Polygonum minus groups. Body weight, signs of illness, daily activity and mortality were observed at least once daily throughout the experimental period. On day 18, the anterior part of the brain was collected and processed for histological and ultrastructural analyses(right hemisphere). The remaining part(left hemisphere) of the brain was assayed to determine malondialdehyde and catalase levels for oxidative stress ***: Polygonum minus ethanolic extract possessed high phenolic content(977.6 mg GAE/g) and 95.9% DPPH radical scavenging activities. No mortality was observed in all groups. Rats in the cisplatin group were weak and less active compared to Polygonum minus treated rats. In the cisplatin group, disorganised cellular layers of the cerebral cortex were observed whereas rats treated with low and mid doses of Polygonum minus extract had normal cerebral cortex as in the control group. Mild ultrastructural changes were observed in rats treated with low and mid doses of Polygonum minus extract. Meanwhile, low and mid doses of Polygonum minus extract significantly reduced malondialdehyde level whereas low and mid doses of Polygonum minus extracts groups significantly

Use of sewage in split doses to enhance water productivity for fish culture

The problem of sewage disposal has received great attention *** raw sewage contains a variety of high inorganic and organic matters that affect natural water *** mitigate such problem,sewage may be recycled through aquaculture *** recycling in aquaculture enhances water productivity through nutrients *** loading of sewage ensures viable aquaculture;otherwise,fish mortality occurs due to poor water *** optimize sewage application,two different experiments were conducted,each with four *** both experiments,three fish species namely rohu(Labeo rohita Hamilton,1822),mrigal(Cirrhinus mrigala Hamilton,1822),and bata(Labeo bata Hamilton,1822)were tested in triplicate in FRP(Fibre-Reinforced Plastic)*** sewage concentrations(0,25%,50%and 75%)used in first experiment were prepared by mixing freshwater,showing Biochemical Oxygen Demand(BOD)2.0±0.4 mg/L,10.8±1.4 mg/L,19.6±1.5 mg/L and 41.6±2.58 mg/L,*** 30 days rearing,results showed≥75%fish survival in sewage concentrations up to 50%with BOD level 19.6±1.5 mg/*** than 50%fish survived in 75%sewage concentration,with BOD level as 41.6±2.58 mg/*** second experiment was conducted for 90 days considering 50%sewage concentration as basal dose with BOD level as 19.6 mg/L as an acceptable limit for fish *** doses of sewage were applied in T_(1),T_(2) and T_(3) treatments fortnightly,weekly and semi-weekly intervals,while single dose was used in C(control)*** of split doses resulted better hydro-biological changes,including nutrients recovery,in T_(1),T_(2) and T_(3) than that of single dose in *** growth plotted with net primary productivity(NPP),phytoplankton and zooplankton densities exhibited positive correlations in T_(2)(12 doses)and T_(3)(24 doses),considered as optimal doses to ensure better water productivity for desirable fish production than sewage with single dose or limited doses(6 doses).

BACkGROUND Accurate detection of gastric antral vascular ectasia(GAVE)is critical for proper management of cirrhosis-related gastrointestinal ***,endoscopic diagnosis of GAVE can be challenging when GAVE overlaps with severe portal hypertensive gastropathy(PHG).AIM To determine the added diagnostic value of virtual chromoendoscopy to high definition white light for real-time endoscopic diagnosis of GAVE and *** We developed an I-scan virtual chromoendoscopy criteria for diagnosis of GAVE and *** tested our criteria in a cross-sectional cohort of cirrhotic adults with GAVE and PHG when high-definition white light endoscopy(HDWLE)diagnosis was in *** then compared the accuracy of I-scan vs HDWLE alone to *** Twenty-three patients were included in this study(65.2%Caucasians and 60.9%males).Chronic hepatitis C was the predominant cause of cirrhosis(43.5%)and seven adults(30.4%)had confirmed GAVE on histology.I-scan had higher sensitivity(100%vs 85.7%)and specificity(75%vs 62.5%)in diagnosing GAVE compared to *** translates into a higher,albeit not statistically significant,accuracy of I-scan in detecting GAVE compared to HDWLE alone(82%vs 70%).I-scan was less likely to lead to an accurate diagnosis of GAVE in patients on dialysis(Pk supports that virtual chromoendoscopy may obviate the need for biopsies when the presence of GAVE is in *** studies are needed to assess the impact of virtual chromoendoscopy on success of endoscopic therapy for GAVE.

Plantago major treatment enhanced innate antioxidant activity in experimental acetaminophen toxicity

Objective: To determine the ef ect of Plantago major(P. major) extract on the liver injury following acetaminophen(APAP) toxicity. Methods: The male Sprague Dawley rats(n = 38) were randomly divided into normal control(n = 6) and experiment(n = 32) groups. The latter was subdivided into four groups and induced with APAP(1 000 mg/kg) per oral, followed by P. major extract and N-acetylcysteine orally to the respective groups for six days. Results: On the seventh day, the serum bilirubin, liver enzymes and tissue malondialdehyde were increased in APAP groups whereas the total protein in serum, tissue superoxide dismutase and glutathione levels were reduced. The plant extract treatment reduced the histological deteriorations such as aggregation of hepatocellular cords, formation of binucleated cells and vacuolisation of the cells with scanty cytoplasm. It also revealed signii cant reduction of malondialdehyde and increased level of superoxide dismutase and glutathione. The i ndings in the extract treated groups were comparable to the group treated with N-acetylcysteine. Conclusions: In conclusion, P. major can enhance innate antioxidant activity and ameliorate the APAP-induced liver injury.

Graphene derivatives as efficient hole transport materials for lead-free double perovskite（Cs2SnI6） solar cells: a numerical study

The double perovskite Cs2SnI6has notable optical and electrical characteristics, rendering it a highly prospective candidate for deployment as the absorber layer in perovskite solar cells （PSCs）. We simulated the performance of PSCs using lead-free Cs2SnI6double perovskite absorber layer and graphene derivatives, namely graphene oxide （GO） and reduced graphene oxide （rGO）, as hole transport layers （HTLs）. Our findings show that r GO offers an excellent hole extraction property with minimal interfacial recombination compared to GO.

In this paper, a presented definition of type-2 fuzzy sets and type-2 fuzzy set operation on it was given. The aim of this work was to introduce the concept of general topological spaces were extended in type-2 fuzzy sets with the structural properties such as open sets, closed sets, interior, closure and neighborhoods in topological spaces were extended to general type-2 fuzzy topological spaces and many related theorems are proved.
