Our initial single port robotic cholecystectomy experience:A feasible and safe option for benign gallbladder diseases

BACKGROUND Although single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been performed for over 25 years, it is still not popular. The narrow working space used in this surgery limits the movement of instruments and causes ergonomic challenges. Robotic surgery not only resolves the ergonomic challenges of single-port laparoscopic surgery but is also considered a good option with its additional technical advantages, like a three-dimensional display and not being affected by ***, the extent to which these technical and ergonomic advantages positively affect the surgical outcomes and how safe the single-port robotic surgeries need to be assessed for each particular *** To evaluate the feasibility and safety of single-port robotic cholecystectomy for patients with *** The electronic records of the first 40 consecutive patients with gallbladder lithiasis who underwent single-port robotic cholecystectomy from 2013 to 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. The Massive Sulfide Deposit of Siirt Madenkoy,South-Eastern Turkey--Geology,Geochemistry and Mineral Raw Material Potential

The Siirt Madenköy massive sulfide ore deposit has been in operation since 2005. With its approx. 39 Mt reserves (2.40% Cu), it represents the largest Cu deposit and the largest mining operation in the country (1.5 Mt ore/year). The thickness of the adjacent rocks is composed of olivine-pyroxenite basalts pillow lava, which is spilite, interchangeable ore lenses of chalcopyrite and pyrite is about 170 m and reaches a depth of 350 m. The mid-Eocene aged porphyritic, strongly altered spilites are locally interspersed with diabase and covered by conglomerates. The ores appear massive, stock work and disseminated. Main ore minerals are idiomorphic pyrite, cataclastic chalcopyrite and fine-grained magnetite. The geochemical composition of the Cu ores of the Siirt-Madenköy deposit shows in places high levels of Cu, Fe and S, as important trace elements, As, Ba, Co and Ti are listed. In relation to Clarke values, Se, Bi, Cu, Mo and Co are strongly enriched, while Na, K and Ca as well as their coherent trace elements Rb, Sr and Cd are depleted due to hydrothermal alteration. The elemental distribution is characterized by log-normal distribution, proportionality effect, high Cu/Ni ratio and significantly positive correlation between the element pairs MgO-Ni, Cr-Ni and Co/FeO-Co. The dependence of Cu and SO3 contents and Cu/FeO, SO3/FeO ratios are to be interpreted as an indication of the common origin of Cu, Fe and S. In general, Cu, Zn, Pb and S content decrease with depth, whereas those of Fe3O4 increase. The variograms of the ore distributions are characterized by hole effect, trend and zonal anisotropy, which reflect alternation of ores with host rocks and changes in elemental contents. The Siirt Madenköy deposit is attributable to Cu and Zn ratios of the Cu class of ophiolitic massive sulfide deposits. Interaction of L-Arginine-methyl ester and Sonic hedgehog in liver ischemia-reperfusion injury in the rats

AIM： To investigate the role of Sonic hedgehog （Shh） on the course of liver ischemia and reperfusion （I/R） in rats, and the interaction between treatment with nitric oxide donor L-Arginine-methyl ester （L-Arg） and up-regulation of Shh expression.METHODS： A total of 30 male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 220-240 g were used in this study. Shamcontrol group （G1, n = 10）： a sham operation was performed （except for liver I/R）. I/R-untreated group （G2, n = 10）： rats underwent liver ischemia for 1 h followed by reperfusion for 45 min. I/R-L-Arg group （G3, n = 10）： after performing the same surgical procedure as in group 2, animals were treated with L-Arg. Liver tissues were taken for determination of malondialdehyde （MDA） levels, and biochemical and histological evaluations were made.RESULTS： Plasma alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, aspartate aminotransferase （AS-T）, lactate dehydrogenase （LDH） and T-glutamyltranspeptidase （GGT） activities were higher in group 2 than in group 3. MDA values and the hepatic injury score decreased in the L-Arg treated group compared to the I/R-untreated group. In group 2, the hepatoo/tes were swollen with marked vacuolization. Group 3 rats showed well-preserved liver parenchyma, with hepatocytes extending from the central vein. The morphology of the hepatocytes and the sinusoidal structures was normal, without any signs of congestion. Mild Shh positive immunostaining was detected in group 2 animals. The expression of immunoreactive cells was increased markedly in liver tissue from I/R-L-Arg rats.CONCLUSION： Our findings suggest that Shh molecules are critical factors in the pathophysiology of inflammatory liver injury induced by I/R. In addition, NO plays an important role in the immunohistochemical expression of these molecules.

Effect of transcatheter aortic valve replacement on P-wave duration, P-wave dispersion and left atrial size

Background P-wave dispersion （PWD）, a measure of heterogeneity of atrial refractoriness, is defined as the difference between the maximum and minimum P-wave duration. In patients with severe aortic stenosis （AS）, P-wave duration and PWD were shown to be increased, indicating atrial electrical remodeling. However, the effect of transcatheter aortic valve replacement （TAVR） on P-wave morphology has not been established yet. The aim of this study is to assess the short and long-term effects of TAVR with two types of bioprosthetic valves on P-wave duration and PWD in association with left atrial （LA） size. Methods Fifty-two （36 female） eligible patients in sinus rhythm who underwent transfemoral TAVR between June 01, 2012 and July 31, 2014 with either a Medtronic CoreValve （MCV）（n = 32） or an Edwards SAPIEN XT Valve （n = 20） were enrolled. Standard 12-lead electrocardiogram and echocardiographic evaluations were per- formed pre-procedurally, post-TAVR day one and 6 months post-TAVR. P-wave duration and PWD were measured and correlation analyses with echocardiographic variables were performed. Results P-wave duration and PWD were significantly decreased on post-TAVR day one （P 〈 0.05）. They continued to decrease during the six month follow-up period, but were not significantly different from short-term values （P 〉 0.05）. The decrease of LA diameter was found significant at the sixth-months of follow-up （P 〈 0.05）. These changes were independent from the types of bioprosthetic valves implanted （P 〉 0.05）. A positive correlation was detected between minimum P-wave duration and maximum aortic valve gradients at post-TAVR day one （r = 0.297, P = 0.032）. Conclusions P-wave duration and PWD were significantly reduced early after TAVR indicating early reverse atrial electrical remodeling. Moreover, structural reverse remodeling of atrium was detected at the 6-months of follow-up. The effects of two types of bioprosthetic valves on atrial remodeling were similar.

Total oxidative stress, paraoxonase and arylesterase levels at patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma

AIMTo investigate the oxidative stress status of the aqueous humor and serum of patients with pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (PEG) and to measure paraoxonase (PON) and arylesterase (ARE) *** total of 78 patients were enrolled in the study, with 26 patients in each separate group. The patients were divided into three groups: the first group entailed PEX syndrome patients, while the second group consisted of patients with PEG and the third group involved patients with no additional systemic diseases, other than the diagnosis of cataract as control. Total oxidative stress (TOS), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), PON, and ARE levels in aqueous humor and serum were ***, PON and arylesterase levels in aqueous humor and serum of the PEX syndrome and PEG patients were significantly decreased compared with control group (P<0.05). TOS values were higher in patients with PEX syndrome and PEG than controls (P<0.05). TAC, PON and ARE levels of aqueous humor did not differ significantly between the PEX syndrome and PEG groupsCONCLUSIONThese findings are potentially of significance and add to the growing body of evidence for oxidative stress in PEX syndrome and PEG. Decreased antioxidant defense and increased oxidative stress system may play an important role in the pathogenesis of PEX syndrome and PEG.

Determination of the Effects of Safflower Biodiesel and Its Blends with Diesel Fuel on Lubricating Oil in a Single Cylinder Diesel Engine

In the present study, safflower biodiesel （safflower oil methyl ester） was produced through transesterification. Biodiesel fuel obtained from safflower was blended with diesel fuel in ratios of 2% （B2） and 20% （B20）. Kinematic viscosity, density, water content, heating value, flash point, clouding point, pour point, ash content, copper strip corrosion and CFPP （cold filter plug point） tests were performed on B2, B20, B100 fuel blends and diesel fuel. A four stroke, single cylinder, water cooled diesel engine with a direct injection fuel system was operated with B2, B20, B100 and diesel fuels at partial load for 100 hours and samples were taken from the engine lubricating oil at certain hours. The wear elements iron, aluminum, lead, copper and chromium contents of the samples taken from the engine lubricating oil were examined.

In this work,the thermal sterilization process in food cans has been analyzed using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD).STAR CCM+software has been used in order to develop a numerical model to study the heating process of standard and the recently proposed toroidal shaped *** model has been validated comparing the results with the ones obtained experimentally and numerically that can be found in the literature.A good agreement between the obtained numerical results and the experimental ones has been *** results also agree with other numerical models previously developed in the *** the model has been validated,taking advance of the possibility to easily introduce movement in the simulations,new variables have been analyzed in the system using this model,such as rotational movement of the *** model developed has been used to study the efficiency of the sterilization process with the two types of cans by means of calculating the temperature inside the systems and calculating the F0 *** can be seen that the efficiency of the sterilization process is better in the toroidal *** has been also checked that CFD models can be very helpful in analyzing the temperature profiles inside the cans and making sure that the correct temperature has been obtained inside the can and the sterilization process has been correctly carried out.

Influence of Sn addition on microstructure and corrosion resistance of AS21 magnesium alloy

This study aims to investigate the influence of Sn addition on microstructure and corrosion properties of AS21 magnesium alloys. The AS21 alloys with 0, 0.5, 1 and 2 wt.% Sn additions were produced by low pressure die casting method. Microstructure characterizations were performed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Corrosion properties of the alloys were examined by immersion and electrochemical corrosion tests in 3.5% NaCl solution. The microscopic results showed that AS21 alloy consisted of α-Mg, isolated β-Mg17Al12 and Chinese script type Mg2Si intermetallic phases. With increasing amount of Sn, the distribution of Mg2Si phase became more discrete and denser. After 2 wt.% Sn addition, a Sn-rich network structure formed throughout the microstructure and islands of Chinese script shape were made of shorter rods of Mg2Si phase. The constant immersion corrosion tests revealed that increasing Sn addition led to a continual decrease in the degradation of AS21 alloys, in which the corrosion rate of AS21 alloy was decreased by approximately 65% with 2 wt.% Sn addition. The electrochemical corrosion tests also showed that the corrosion resistance of AS21 alloy was gradually improved with increasing Sn content.

Nonlinear and saturable absorption properties of PbS nanocrystalline thin films

The structural, morphological, optical, and nonlinear optical properties of a lead sulfide （PbS） thin film grown by chemical bath deposition （CBD） are investigated by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, ultraviolet-visible （UV-Vis）, and open aperture Z-scan experiments. The band gap energy of the PbS nanocrystalline film is 1.82 eV~ higher than that of bulk PbS at 300 K. The nonlinear absorption properties of the film are investigated using the open aperture Z-scan technique at 1064 nm and pulse durations of 4 ns and 65 ps. Intensity-dependent switching of the film from nonlinear absorption to saturable absorption is observed. The nonlinear absorption coefficient increases monotonically with increasing pulse duration from 65 ps to 4 ns.
