In the summers of 2006 and 2007, the atmospheric CO2 concentration and the wind speed in the Rongbuk Valley on the northern slope of Mr. Everest were measured by an ultrasonic anemometer with an Li-7500 CO2/H2O gas analyzer. The average CO2 concentration was 370.23±0.59 and 367.45±1.91 ppm in June of 2006 and 2007, respectively. The values are much lower than those at sites with similar latitudes and altitudes worldwide. The observed atmospheric CO2 concentration in Rongbuk Valley can be affected by the transportation of prevailing down-valley winds from the up-valley direction to the observation site. Our results suggest that the Mt. Everest region could be ideal for background atmospheric and environmental studies.

For a better understanding of the air mass exchange processes between the surface and free atmos-phere in the Himalayas,a Himalayan exchange between the surface and troposphere 2007 (HEST2007) campaign was carried out in the Rongbuk Valley,on the northern slope of ***,in June *** wind,tem-perature and radiation conditions were measured during the *** these observation data,together with the National Centers for Environmental Prediction/the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR) reanalysis data,the air mass exchange between the inside of the valley and the outside of the valley is quantitatively estimated,based on a closed-valley *** air mass is strongly injected into the Rongbuk Valley in the after-noon,which dominates the diurnal cycle,by a strong downward along-valley wind,with a maximum down-ward transfer rate of 9.4 cm s?*** total air volume flux injected into the valley was 2.6×1011 m3 d?1 in 24 hours in June 2007,which is 15 times the total volume of the *** air mass transfer into the valley also exhibited a clear daily variation during the HEST2007 campaign,which can be affected by the synoptic situations through the adjustment of local radiation conditions.

Using 9943 OB-type stars from LAMOST DR7 in the solar neighborhood,we fit the vertical stellar density profile with the model including a single exponential distribution at different positions(R,Φ).The distributions of the scale heights and scale length show that the young disk traced by the OB-type stars is not *** scale length decreases versus the azimuthal angleΦ,i.e.,from.■kpc withΦ=-3°to■kpc withΦ=9°.Meanwhile we find signal of non-symmetry in the distribution of the scale height of the north and south of the disk *** scale height in the north side shows signal of flaring of the disk,while that of the south disk stays almost constant around h_(s)=130 *** distribution of the displaceeent of the disk plane Z_(0)also shows variance versus the azimuthal angleΦ,which displays significant differences with the warp model constrained by the Cepheid *** also test different values for the position of the Sun,and the distance between the Sun and the Galactic center affects the scale heights and the displacement of the disk significantly,but that does not change our conclusion that the disk is not axisymmetric.

The sloshing in a group of rigid cylindrical tanks with baffles and on soil foundation under horizontal excitation is studied *** solutions for the velocity potential are derived out by the liquid subdomain *** models with mass-spring oscillators are established to replace continuous *** with the least square technique,Chebyshev polynomials are employed to fit horizontal,rocking and horizontal-rocking coupling impedances of soil,respectively.A lumped parameter model for impedance is presented to describe the effects of soil on tank structures.A mechanical model for the soil-foundation-tank-liquid-baffle system with small amount of calculation and high accuracy is proposed using the substructure *** analytical solutions are in comparison with data from reported literature and numerical codes to validate the effectiveness and correctness of the *** dynamic properties and seismic responses of the soil-tank system are given for the baffle number,size and location as well as soil parameter.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) are highly promising porous materials known for their exceptional porosity, extensive surface area, and customizable pore structures, making them an ideal solution for hydrogen storage. However, most MOFs research remains confined to the laboratory, lacking practical applications. To address this, the author proposes a shift towards practical applications, the creation of a comprehensive MOFs database, alignment of synthesis with practical considerations, and diversification of MOFs applications. These steps are crucial for harnessing the full potential of MOFs in real-world energy challenges.

Experimental investigation on shear strength deterioration at the interface between different rock types under cyclic loading

The shear strength deterioration of bedding planes between different rock types induced by cyclic loading is vital to reasonably evaluate the stability of soft and hard interbedded bedding rock slopes under earthquake;however,rare work has been devoted to this subject due to lack of *** this study,experimental investigations on shear strength weakening of discontinuities with different joint wall material(DDJM)under cyclic loading were conducted by taking the interface between siltstone and mudstone in the Shaba slope of Yunnan Province,China as research objects.A total of 99 pairs of similar material samples of DDJM(81 pairs)and discontinuities with identical joint wall material(DIJM)(18 pairs)were fabricated by inserting plates,engraved with typical surface morphology obtained by performing three-dimensional laser scanning on natural DDJMs sampled from field,into mold *** shear tests were conducted on these samples to study their shear strength changes with the cyclic number considering the effects of normal stress,joint surface morphology,shear displacement amplitude and shear *** results indicate that the shear stress *** displacement curves under each shear cycle and the peak shear strength *** number curves of the studied DDJMs are between those of DIJMs with siltstone and mudstone,while closer to those of DIJMs with *** peak shear strengths of DDJMs exhibit an initial rapid decline followed by a gradual decrease with the cyclic number and the decrease rate varies from 6%to 55.9%for samples with varied surface morphology under different testing *** normal stress,joint surface morphology,shear displacement amplitude and shear rate collectively influence the shear strength deterioration of DDJM under cyclic shear loading,with the degree of influence being greater for larger normal stress,rougher surface morphology,larger shear displacement amplitude and faster shear rate.

Hydrogenated metal borides have attracted much attention due to their potential high-temperature superconductivity. Here, we propose a new strategy for hydrogen intercalation tuning the stability and superconductivity of the boron honeycomb sublattice,and predict an unprecedented layered compound Na2B2H, which hosts excellent superconductivity. Strikingly, the superconducting transition temperature（Tc） of Na2B2H reaches 42 K at ambient pressure. The Tcvalue can be further increase to 63 K under 5% biaxial tensile strain. The excellent superconductivity originates from the strong electron-phonon coupling between theσ-bonding bands near the Fermi level and the B-B stretching optical E modes. The interstitial electron localization and crystal orbitals of the H-intercalated Na ion layer well match the boron honeycomb lattice and act as a chemical template to stabilize the B layer. Furthermore, the introduction of hydrogen tuned the Fermi level, and the coupling vibration of Na and H ions effectively enhanced the dynamic stability of the structure. Na2B2H represents a new family of layered high-temperature superconductors,and the strategy of stabilizing the honeycomb boron sublattice via chemical template hosts great potential for application to more layered compounds.

The current study focuses on the motion-pressure coupled control for a multicapsule stratospheric airship and transforms the path-tracking and heading-hold control of airships into guidance tracking with a time-varying weighted sum of longitudinal and lateral velocities by the definition of compound ***,an improved nonlinear predictive control method is provided to reduce the control energy consumption by the rolling optimization of controller parameters based on finite time intervals,ensuring infinite-time path-tracking ***,combined with the proposed cyclic regulation process of safe pressure between internal and external capsules,this study can fully reflect the force-thermal coupled rule of airships under the actions of atmospheric environment and maneuvering force,while evaluating the long-endurance capability of airships under the conditions of safe superheating and *** effectiveness of the motionpressure coupled controller was verified through numerical simulations,which can overcome the influence of environmental wind and achieve a tracking effect for the desired cruise path and compound *** airspeed provided during the cyclic circadian time caused the maximum superheating of the helium controlled within 30*** helium in the internal and external capsules achieved circadian *** equivalent micropore diameter of the capsule of 5 mm can achieve 55 days of long-endurance *** controller satisfies the requirements of cruise-flight application modes for multicapsule stratospheric airships with important engineering value.
