Factors influencing clinical outcomes of acute ischemic stroke treated with intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator

Background Thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator （rt-PA） has gained international recognition, clinical outcomes following this thrombolytic therapy varied from patient to patient. Factors affecting clinical outcomes have not been well understood yet, so this retrospective case-control study aimed to investigate factors that may influence clinical outcomes of acute ischemic stroke treated with intravenous rt-PA. Methods One hundred and one patients with acute ischemic stroke who received intravenous rt-PA thrombolysis within 4.5 hours from disease onset were included. Patients were divided into good or poor outcome group according to modified Rankin Scale （mRS） score, good outcome group： mRS score of 0-1; poor outcome group： mRS of 2-6. Stroke characteristics were compared between the two groups. Factors for stroke outcomes were analyzed via univariate analysis and Logistic regression. Results Of the 101 patients studied, patients in good outcome group （n=55） were significantly younger than patients in poor outcome group （n=46, （62.82±14.25） vs. （68.81±9.85） years, P=0.029）. Good outcome group had fewer patients with diabetic history （9.09% vs. 28.26%, P=0.012）, fewer patients with leukoaraiosis （7.27% vs. 28.26%, P=-0.005） and presented with lower blood glucose level （（5.72±1.76） vs. （6.72±1.32） mmol/L, P=0.012）, lower systolic blood pressure level （（135.45±19.36） vs. （148.78±19.39） mmHg, P=0.003）, lower baseline NIHSS score （12.02±5.26 vs. 15.78±4.98, P=0.002） and shorter onset-to-treatment time （OTT）（（2.38±1.21） vs. （2.57±1.03） hours, P=0.044） than poor outcome group. Logistic regression analysis showed that absence of diabetic history （odds ratio （OR） 0.968 （95% CI 0.941-0.996））, absence of leukoaraiosis （OR 0.835 （95% C/0.712-0.980））, lower baseline NIHSS score （OR 0.885 （95% Cl 0.793- 0.989））, lower pre-thrombolysis systolic blood pressure （OR 0.962 （95% CI 0.929-0.997））, and lower blood glucose level （OR 0.699 （95% Cl 0.491-0.994）） befor

Tuning the membrane rejection behavior by surface wettability engineering for an effective water-in-oil emulsion separation

Membrane-based separation is a promising technology to eliminate water impurities from the oil ***,it remains a great challenge to separate water from highly emulsified viscous oil owing to the high stability of the water droplets in *** we report a surface wettability engineering on an alumina ceramic membrane to achieve an efficient separation of a water-in-oil(W/O)*** with different carbon chain lengths and fluorinated status were introduced to endow the alumina membrane with different surface *** all the modified membranes exhibited excellent separation of the W/O without Span 80(surfactant),the one with amphiphobic wettability and lowest surface energy failed to separate the Span 80 stabilized W/*** presence of Span 80 reduced the interfacial tension of water droplets,making them easier to deform and penetrate the modified membrane with the lowest surface *** reveals that engineering proper surface wettability is the key to separating the oil and water ***,the modified membranes maintained decent separation performance and stability under long-term run separation of the emulsified W/O.

Clinical relevance of distolingual roots and periodontal status in mandibular first molars: a cross-sectional study employing CBCT analysis

Objectives:Distolingual root of the permanent mandibular first molar(PMFM-DLR)has been frequently reported,which may complicate the treatment of *** study aimed to assess the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and investigate the correlation between the morphological features of PMFM-DLR and periodontal status in patients with Eastern Chinese ethnic *** and methods:A total of 836 cone beam computed tomography(CBCT)images with 1497 mandibular first molars were analyzed to observe the prevalence of PMFM-DLR at the patients and tooth levels in Eastern *** them,complete periodontal charts were available for 69 Chinese patients with 103 *** and regression analyses were used to evaluate the correlation between the morphological features of DLR,bone loss,and periodontal clinical parameters,including clinical attachment loss(CAL),probing pocket depth(PPD),gingival recession(GR),and furcation involvement(FI).Results:The patient-level prevalence and tooth-level prevalence of DLR in mandibular first molars were 29.4%and 26.3%,*** linear regression analysis suggested that bone loss at the lingual site and CAL were negatively affected by the angle of separation between distolingual and mesial roots in the transverse section,while they were significantly influenced by age and the angle of separation between distobuccal and mesial roots in the coronal ***:The prevalence of PMFM-DLR in Eastern China was relatively high in our *** morphological features of DLR were correlated with the periodontal status of mandibular first *** study provides critical information on the morphological features of DLR for improved diagnosis and treatment options of mandibular molars with DLR.

Analytic optimal pose tracking control in close-range proximity operations with a non-cooperative target

This paper investigates an analytical optimal pose tracking control problem for chaser spacecraft during the close-range proximity operations with a non-cooperative space target subject to attitude tumbling and unknown orbital ***,the relative translational motion between the orbital target and the chaser spacecraft is described in the Line-of-Sight(LOS)coordinate frame along with attitude quaternion ***,based on the coupled 6-Degree of Freedom(DOF)pose dynamic model,an analytical optimal control action consisting of constrained optimal control value,application time and its duration are proposed via exploring the iterative sequential action control ***,the global closed-loop asymptotic stability of the proposed predictive control action is presented and *** with traditional proximity control schemes,the highlighting advantages are that the application time and duration of the devised controller is applied discretely in light of the influence of the instantaneous pose configuration on the pose tracking performance with less energy consumptions rather than at each sample ***,three groups of illustrative examples are organized to validate the effectiveness of the proposed analytical optimal pose tracking control scheme.

A multiscale differential-algebraic neural network-based method for learning dynamical systems

The objective of dynamical system learning tasks is to forecast the future behavior of a system by leveraging observed ***,such systems can sometimes exhibit rigidity due to significant variations in component parameters or the presence of slow and fast variables,leading to challenges in *** overcome this limitation,we propose a multiscale differential-algebraic neural network(MDANN)method that utilizes Lagrangian mechanics and incorporates multiscale information for dynamical system *** MDANN method consists of two main components:the Lagrangian mechanics module and the multiscale *** Lagrangian mechanics module embeds the system in Cartesian coordinates,adopts a differential-algebraic equation format,and uses Lagrange multipliers to impose constraints explicitly,simplifying the learning *** multiscale module converts high-frequency components into low-frequency components using radial scaling to learn subprocesses with large differences in *** results demonstrate that the proposed MDANN method effectively improves the learning of dynamical systems under rigid conditions.

Numerical Simulation of Droplet Generation in Coaxial Microchannels

In this study,numerical simulations of the pinching-off phenomena displayed by the dispersed phase in a continuous phase have been conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics(level-set method).Four flow patterns,namely“drop flow”,“jet flow”,“squeeze flow”,and“co-flow”,have been obtained for different flow velocity ratios,channel diameter ratios,density ratios,viscosity ratios,and surface *** flow pattern map of two-phase flow in coaxial microchannels has been obtained accordingly,and the associated droplet generation process has been critically discussed considering the related frequency,diameter,and pinch-off *** particular,it is shown that the larger the flow velocity ratio,the smaller the diameter of generated droplets and the shorter the pinch-off *** pinch-off length of a droplet is influenced by the channel diameter ratio and density *** changes in viscosity ratio have a negligible influence on the droplet generation pinching *** an increase in surface tension,the frequency of generation and pinch-off length of droplets decrease,but for small surface tension the generation diameter of droplet increases.

Noninvasive beam diagnosis based on the TM_(010)mode

A resonant cavity based on the TM_(010)mode is an effective tool for noninvasive beam characterization. This technique has the advantages of a high signal-to-noise ratio, compact structure, and is related to multiple parameters compared with other beam monitors. In this study, high-precision measurements of the bunch charge, arrival time, bunch length, and energy parameters based on the TM_(010)mode are discussed. A cavity beam arrival time monitor(BAM) utilizing a phase cavity has been widely used in many facilities. Regarding bunch-length measurements, the influence of the beam energy, beam offset,and longitudinal spectrum on the TM_(010)mode are carefully considered to reduce errors, and the theoretical resolution of two cavities with different frequencies is analyzed. Owing to the dependence of the beam velocity of the beam loss factor, this method can also be used for the detection low beam energy using two cavities with the same frequency but different cavity lengths. A set of three cavities with different lengths and frequencies of 1.902 and 11.424 GHz is presented for measuring the four aforementioned parameters.

Prediction of peritoneal free cancer cells in gastric cancer patients by golden-angle radial sampling dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging

Objectiveperitoneal free cancer cells can negatively impact disease progression and patient outcomes in gastric cancer. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of using golden-angle radial sampling dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (GRASP DCE-MRI) to predict the presence of peritoneal free cancer cells in gastric cancer *** enrolled patients were consecutively divided into analysis and validation groups. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and perfusion were performed in patients with gastric cancer undergoing surgery, and peritoneal lavage specimens were collected for examination. Based on the peritoneal lavage cytology (PLC) results, patients were divided into negative and positive lavage fluid groups. The data collected included clinical and MR information. A nomogram prediction model was constructed to predict the positive rate of peritoneal lavage fluid, and the validity of the model was verified based on data from the verification *** was no statistical difference between the proportion of PLC-positive cases predicted by GRASP DCE-MR and the actual PLC test. MR tumor stage, tumor thickness, and perfusion parameter Tofts-Ketty model volume transfer constant (Ktrans) were independent predictors of positive peritoneal lavage fluid. The nomogram model featured a concordance index (C-index) of 0.785 and 0.742 for the modeling and validation groups, *** DCE-MR could effectively predict peritoneal free cancer cells in gastric cancer patients. The nomogram model constructed using these predictors may help clinicians to better predict the risk of peritoneal free cancer cells being present in gastric cancer patients.
