For over two decades,sulfate reduction with ammonium oxidation(SRAo)had been reported from laboratory *** was considered an autotrophic process mediated by anammox bacteria,in which ammonium as electron donor was oxidized by the electron acceptor *** process had been attributed to observed transformations of nitrogenous and sulfiirous compounds in natural *** obtained differed largely for the conversion mole ratios(ammonium/sulfate),and even the intermediate and final products of sulfate ***,the hypothesis of biological conversion pathways of ammonium and sulfate in anammox consortia is *** this study,continuous reactor experiments(with working volume of 3.8L)and batch tests were conducted under normal anaerobic(0.2oobic(Doonditions with different biomass proportions to verify the SRAo phenomena and identify possible pathways behind substrate *** findings were that SRAo occurred only in cases of high amounts of inoculant biomass under normal anaerobic condition,while absent under strict anaerobic conditions for same anammox *** balance and stoichiometry were checked based on experimental results and the thermodynamics proposed by previous studies were critically *** anammox bacteria do not possess the ability to oxidize ammonium with sulfate as electron acceptor and the assumed SRAo could,in fact,be a combination of aerobic ammonium oxidation,anammox and heterotrophic sulfate reduction processes.

A new unsteady three-dimensional convective-diffusive mathematical model for the transportation of macromolecules and water across the arterial wall was proposed . After the formation of leaky junctions due to the mitosis of endothelial cell of the arterial wall, the macromolecular transport happens surrounding the leaky cells. The arterial wall was divided into four layers: the endothelial layer, the subendothelial intima, the internal elastic lamina and the media for the convenience of research. The time-dependent concentration growth,the effect of the shape of endothelial cell and the effect of physiological parameters were analyzed. The analytical solution of velocity field and pressure field of water flow across the arterial wall were obtained; and concentration distribution of three macromolecules ; LDL,HRP and Albumin, were calculated with numerical simulation method. The new theory predicts, the maximum and distribution areas of time dependent concentration with round shape endothelial cell are both larger than that with ellipse-shape endothelial cell. The model also predicts the concentration growth is much alike that of a two-dimensional model and it shows that the concentration reaches its peak at the leaky junction where atherosclerotic formation frequently occurs and falls down rapidly in a limited area beginning from its earlier time growth to the state when macromolecular transfer approaches steadily. These predictions of the new model are in agreement with the experimental observation for the growth and concentration distribution of LDL and Albumin.

A row-type mutant of barley named poly-row-and-branched spike （prbs） was previously obtained from a two-rowed cultivar Pudamai-2 after treated by inflorescence soaking in maize total DNA solution. The mutant produces branched spikes with irregular multiple rows. Genetic analysis indicated that the mutant phenotype was caused by a recessive gene prbs, and the PRBS locus had a recessive epistatic effect on an independent locus （denoted as Vrsx） conferring the variation of two-rowed spike vs. six-rowed spike. This study aimed to map PRBS as well as Vrsx using simple sequence repeats （SSR） markers. We developed an F2 population from a cross between the prbs mutant and a six-rowed cultivar Putianwudu for the gene mapping. As the two target loci interacted to result in a segregation ratio of two-rowed type：six-rowed type：prbs=9：3：4 in the population, we adopted a special strategy to map the two loci. PRBS was mapped between SSR markers HvLTPPB and Bmag0508A on the short arm of chromosome 3H, with distances of 24.7 and 14.3 cM to the two markers, respectively. Vrsx was mapped between SSR markers Bmag0125 and Bmag0378 on chromosome 2H, with distances of 6.9 and 15.3 cM to the two markers, respectively. This suggests that Vrsx should be the known locus Vrs1, which predominantly controls row-type variation in barley cultivars, and PRBS is a new locus related to the row type of spikes in barley.

Precision diagnosis of leaf nitrogen(N)content in arbuscular mycorrhizal inoculated crops under drought stress,using hyperspectral remote sensing technology,would be significant to evaluate the mycorrhizal effect on crop growth condition in the arid and semi-arid *** this study,soybean plants with inoculation and non-inoculation treatments were grown under severe drought,moderate drought and normal irrigation *** spectral reflectance and several biochemical parameters were measured at 30 d,45 d and 64 d after *** analyses were conducted between leaf N content and the original and first derivative spectral reflectance.A series of first-order differential area indices and differential area ratio indices were proposed and *** indicated that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi improved leaf N content under drought stresses,the spectral reflectance in visible to red edge regions of inoculated plants was lower than that of non-inoculated *** first-order differential area index at bands of 638-648 nm achieved the best estimation and prediction accuracies in leaf N content inversion,with the determination coefficient of calibration of 0.72,root mean square error of prediction and relative error of prediction of 0.46 and 11.60%,*** study provides a new insight for the evaluation of mycorrhizal effect under drought stress and opens up a new field of application for hyperspectral remote sensing.

A general, fast and robust B-spline fitting scheme for micro-line tool path under chord error constraint

The discontinuity of linear tool path(or G01 blocks) brings about unnecessary feedrate deceleration and fluctuation during machining. To improve the continuity, the linear tool path is usually smoothed by the local transition method or the global fitting method. For micro-line tool path, the transition method will significantly decrease the machining efficiency and introduce feedrate fluctuation. The global fitting method cannot be directly used in the NC interpolation because the indispensable chord error checking and iterative fitting processes are computation-intensive. This paper presents a general, fast and robust B-spline fitting scheme under chord error constraint for high speed interpolation of micro-line tool path. The proposed fitting method guarantees the chord error by utilizing the strong convex hull property of B-spline curves. The knot vector and control points are initially generated by a progressive iterative approximation method and locally refined to conform to the chord error constraint by using an analytical method. The analytical approximation and refining methods avoid solving a linear system of equations that is necessary in the standard B-spline fitting method. The feasibility and efficiency of the proposed scheme has been verified via simulations and experiments. Compared with the traditional fitting method, the proposed scheme can strictly constrain the chord error and can significantly decrease the computational load. Compared with the transition scheme, the proposed scheme can significantly increase the machining efficiency for the same micro-line tool path under the same chord error tolerance.

Spectroscopic studies of dye-surfactant interactions with the co-existence of heavy metal ions for foam fractionation

The interaction between a cationic dye Methylene Blue （MB） and an anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate （SDS） with the presence of Cd2＋ was investigated spectrophotometrically in a certain concentration range. The spectrophotometric measurements of dye-metal ion-surfactant system were carried out. The results indicated that the SDS concentration had a significant influence on the dye spectrum, while the addition of Cd2~ hardly caused change of the maximum value of absorbance. According to this observation, we concluded that electrostatic and hydrophobic interaction between dye and surfactant occurred up to a certain level, and the homo-ions Cd2＋ almost exerted no effect on the dye-surfactant complexation, establishing a theoretical foundation for simultaneous removal of organic dye and heavy metal using foam fractionation. Meanwhile, the effects of their interaction on foam performance were investigated. The results showed that the addition of Cd2＋ favored the tendency to ameliorate foam properties just contrary to MB. The feasibility of foam separation for dye and heavy metal removal from simulated wastewater was also confirmed using a continuous foam fractionator. In the simultaneous removal process, with the initial SDS concentration ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 retool/L, the maximum removal efticiencies of MB and Cd2＋ were obtained as 99.69% and 99.61%, respectively. The enrichment ratios were reduced from 24.34 to 7.65 for MB and from 22.01 to 3.35 for Cd2＋.

Epidemic transition of environmental health risk during China's urbanization

China has experienced rapid urbanization in recent decades along with dramatic economic growth. Previous studies have shown that urbanization has both positive and negative effects on health. However, there is a lack of research on the overall effects of urbanization on the epidemic transition of environmental health risks considering various pathways in China. In the present study, we studied the contributions of different aspects of urbanization in China to epidemic transitions using provincial and multi-year （1995, 2000, 2005, and 2010） panel data. Statistical models with fixed and random effects were developed to explore the impacts of different urbanization indicators on the overall epidemic tran- sition of environmental health （general model） and the changes in cause-specific mortality rates of typ- ical diseases （cause-specific models）. The results show that the impacts of non-communicable diseases continue to grow during the urbanization process in China. The ratio of communicable disease-related mortality to non-communicable disease-related mortality continues to decrease over time. The general model shows that the improved medical conditions （coefficient =-0.0011, P= 0.037）, the improved urban infrastructure （e.g., tap water supply）（coefficient = -0.00065, P 〈 0,001）, and the rise in income （coefficient = -0.00027, P = 0.047） during the urbanization process are important factors that promote this overall epidemic transition. The cause-specific models show that the mechanisms behind the general model are complicated. More attention should be paid to non-communicable diseases in urban health management. Specific health policies for different diseases should incorporate the considerations of dif- ferent impact pathwavs of urbanization,
