Longitudinal dispersion coefficients of pollutants in compound channels with vegetated floodplains

The characteristics of the longitudinal dispersion of pollutants in compound channels remain unclear. This study examines the relationships among the vegetation density, the width of the floodplain, the water depth ratio, the cross-sectional mean velocity, and the longitudinal dispersion coefficient of a symmetrical compound channel with a rigid non-submerged vegetated floodplain. The longitudinal dispersion coefficient is found to increase significantly with the presence of vegetation on floodplains, and is positively correlated with the plant density. When the density of the vegetation on the floodplains exceeds a certain value, the dispersion coefficient no longer changes with the vegetation density. The longitudinal dispersion coefficient is found to increase with the increase of the width of the floodplain. Moreover, the combined effects of the mean velocity and the water depth ratio have a positive correlation with the dispersion coefficient. The effects of the vegetation on the longitudinal dispersion coefficient in the channels with various cross-sections are also compared. The compound channels with a vegetated floodplain are found to differ significantly from the channels with a rectangular cross-section.

We investigate the microscopic optical force density distributions respectively inside a subwavelength-diameter（SD）fiber with flat endface and inside one with oblique endface by using a finite-difference time-domain（FDTD） *** force density distributions at the fiber endfaces can now be readily available. The complete knowledge of optical force density distributions not only reveal features regarding the microscopic near-field optomechanical interaction, but also provide straightforward explanations for the sideway deflections and other mechanical motions. Our results can provide a useful reference for better understanding the mechanical influence when light transports in a microscale or nanoscale structure and for developing future highly-sensitive optomechanical devices.

Unambiguous and rapid sarcosaphagous insect species identification is an essential requirement for forensic investigations. Although some insect species are difficult to classify morphologically, they can be effectively identified using molecular methods based on similarity with abundant authenticated reference DNA sequences in local databases. However, local databases are still relatively incomplete in China because of the large land area with distinct regional conditions. In this study, 75 forensically important blow flies were collected from 23 locations in 16 Chinese provinces, and a 278-bp segment of the cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene of all specimens was successfully sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis of the sequenced segments showed that all Calliphorid specimens were properly assigned into nine species with relatively strong supporting values, thus indicating that the 278-bp cytochrome oxidase subunit one region is suitable for identification of Calliphorid species. The clear difference between intraspecific threshold and interspecific divergence confirmed the potential of this region for Calliphorid species identification, especially for distinguishing between morphologically similar species. Intraspecific geographic variations were observed in Lucilia sericata （Meigen, 1826） and Lucilia caesar （linnaeus, 1758）.

Objective: To analyze the acupoints selection rules in the treatment of functional dyspepsia using complex network technology. Method: This paper uses "functional dyspepsia" and "acupuncture" as searching terms, searches the Chinese and English literature included in the five major databases of Pubmed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Sino Med, VIP and Wanfang databases until August 2021, and performs data mining and visualization of prescriptions so as to analyze the pattern of acupoints. Results: 128 papers involving 40 acupoints were selected. The top three acupoints in terms of frequency of acupuncture are zusanli (ST 36), Neiguan (PC 6) and Zhongwan (RN 12);these three acupuncture points have the highest support for alliance. The core prescriptions for acupuncture in the treatment of functional dyspepsia can be divided into four following categories. The first category is ST 36, PC 6, Gongsun (SP 4), Neiting (ST 44), and Yinlingquan (SP 9);the second category is RN 12, Tianshu (ST 25), guangyuan (RN 4), Qihai (RN 6), and Xiawan (RN 10);the third category is Zhangmen (IR 10), liangmen (ST 21), Qimen (IR 14), Taichong (IR 3), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6);and the fourth category includes Weishu (BL 21), Pishu (BL 20), and Ganshu (BL18). Conclusion: The top three meridians with the highest frequency of acupuncture for functional dyspepsia are the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming, the Conception Vessel and the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang. This paper analyses the prescription of acupuncture for functional dyspepsia through a complex network, which can more effectively summarize the pattern of acupuncture point selection from various aspects.
