The treatment of refractory schizophrenia has been a clinical challenge for most psychiatrists; the possible reasons include diagnostic errors, medical conditions and brain dysgenesis. Here, we described a patient with childhood-onset schizophrenia who had severe psychiatric symptoms such as auditory hallucinations and persecutory delusions, and etc. We reexamined all his possible medical conditions and found that the patient had an abnormally enlarged cavus septum pellucidum （CSP） combined with cavum vergae （CV）（maximum length 〉30 mm）. Some reports suggested that abnormal CSP （length 〉6 mm） has a significant association with schizophrenia. However, abnormally large CSP or CSP/CV and related prognosis were reported rarely. This case suggested that abnormally enlarged CSP or CSP/CV may worsen the prognosis.

Objective:Osteoarthritis(OA)is a degenerative joint disorder characterized by the gradual degradation of joint cartilage and local inflammation.This study aimed to investigate the anti-OA effect of scutellarein(SCU),a single-unit flavonoid compound obtained from Scutellaria barbata D.Don,in rats.Methods:The extracted rat chondrocytes were treated with SCU and IL-1β.The chondrocytes were divided into control group,IL-1β group,IL-1β+SCU 50 μmol/L group,and IL-1β+SCU 100 pmol/L group.Morphology of rat chondrocytes was observed by toluidine blue and safranin O staining.CCK-8 method was used to detect the cytotoxicity of SCU.ELISA,qRT-PCR,Western blotting,immunofluorescence,SAβ-gal staining,flow cytometry,and bioinformatics analysis were applied to evaluate the effect of SCU on rat chondrocytes under IL-1β intervention.Additionally,anterior cruciate ligament transection(ACL-T)was used to establish a rat OA model.Histological changes were detected by safranin O/fast green,hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,and immunohistochemistry.Results:SCU protected cartilage and exhibited anti-inflammatory effects via multiple mechanisms.Specifically,it could enhance the synthesis of extracellular matrix in cartilage cells and inhibit its degradation.In addition,SCU partially inhibited the nuclear factor kappa-B/mitogen-activated protein kinase(NF-κB/MAPK)pathway,thereby reducing inflammatory cytokine production in the joint cartilage.Furthermore,SCU significantly reduced IL-1β-induced apoptosis and senescence in rat chondrocytes,further highlighting its potential role in OA treatment.In vivo experiments revealed that SCU(at a dose of 50 mg/kg)administered for 2 months could significantly delay the progression of cartilage damage,which was reflected in a lower Osteoarthritis Research Society International(OARSI)score,and reduced expression of matrix metalloproteinase 13(MMP13)in cartilage.Conclusion:SCU is effective in the therapeutic management of OA and could serve as a potential candidate for future clinical drug therapy for OA.

The vibration of a plate resting on elastic foundations under a moving load is of great significance in the design of many engineering fields,such as the vehicle-pavement system and the aircraft-runway system.Pavements or runways are always laminated structures.The Galerkin truncation method is widely used in the research of vibration.The number of truncation terms directly affects the convergence and accuracy of the response results.However,the selection of the number of truncation terms has not been clearly stated.A nonlinear viscoelastic foundation model under a moving load is established.Based on the natural frequency of linear undisturbed derivative systems,the truncation terms are used to determine the convergence of vibration response.The criterion for the convergence of the Galerkin truncation term is presented.The scheme is related to the natural frequency with high efficiency and practicability.Through the dynamic response of the sandwich beam under a moving load,the feasibility of the scheme is verified.The effects of different system parameters on the scheme and the truncation convergence of dynamic response are presented.The research in this paper can be used as a reference for the study of the vibration of elastic foundation plates.Especially,the model established and the truncation analysis method proposed are helpful for studying the vibration of vehicle-pavement system and related systems.

It well known that vehicle detection is an important component of the field of object detection.However,the environment of vehicle detection is particularly sophisticated in practical processes.It is comparatively difficult to detect vehicles of various scales in traffic scene images,because the vehicles partially obscured by green belts,roadblocks or other vehicles,as well as influence of some low illumination weather.In this paper,we present a model based on Faster R-CNN with NAS optimization and feature enrichment to realize the effective detection of multi-scale vehicle targets in traffic scenes.First,we proposed a Retinex-based image adaptive correction algorithm(RIAC) to enhance the traffic images in the dataset to reduce the influence of shadow and illumination,and improve the image quality.Second,in order to improve the feature expression of the backbone network,we conducted Neural Architecture Search(NAS) on the backbone network used for feature extraction of Faster R-CNN to generate the optimal cross-layer connection to extract multi-layer features more effectively.Third,we used the object Feature Enrichment that combines the multi-layer feature information and the context information of the last layer after cross-layer connection to enrich the information of vehicle targets,and improve the robustness of the model for challenging targets such as small scale and severe occlusion.In the implementation of the model,K-means clustering algorithm was used to select the suitable anchor size for our dataset to improve the convergence speed of the model.Our model has been trained and tested on the UN-DETRAC dataset,and the obtained results indicate that our method has art-of-state detection performance.

To the Editor:Identifying the increase in intracranial pressure(ICP)is very important in the management of neurosurgical and neurological disorders,because raised ICP is associated with poor outcomes such as brain herniation and death.Although the intraparenchymal or intraventricular invasive methods remain the gold standard for ICP measurement,they cannot be routinely employed because of the lack of an adequate number of neurosurgeons.In addition,because of contraindications(eg,blood coagulation disorders and severe platelet disorders)and complications(eg,infection and hemorrhage),the invasive approach is not always possible.[1]Therefore,accurate non-invasive methods are needed to estimate ICP in clinical practice.A large number of studies have shown that the optic nerve sheath diameter(ONSD)is an indirect marker of ICP,and that there is a linear relationship between the two parameters.[1,2]Therefore,ONSD and its accurate measurement methods are getting more and more attention from scholars.

Recent studies have characterized the genomic structures of many eukaryotic cells,often focusing on their relation to gene expression.However,these studies have largely investigated cells grown in 2D cultures,although the transcriptomes of 3D-cultured cells are generally closer to their in vivo phenotypes.To examine the effects of spatial constraints on chromosome conformation,we investigated the genomic architecture of mouse hepatocytes grown in 2D and 3D cultures using in situ Hi-C.Our results reveal significant differences in higher-order genomic interactions,notably in compartment identity and strength as well as in topologically associating domain(TAD)-TAD interactions,but only minor differences are found at the TAD level.Our RNA-seq analysis reveals up-regulated expression of genes involved in physiological hepatocyte functions in the 3D-cultured cells.These genes are associated with a subset of structural changes,suggesting that differences in genomic structure are critically important for transcriptional regulation.However,there are also many structural differences that are not directly associated with changes in gene expression,whose cause remains to be determined.Overall,our results indicate that growth in 3D significantly alters higher-order genomic interactions,which may be consequential for a subset of genes that are important for the physiological functioning of the cell.

Real-time Microwave Exposure Induces Calcium Efflux in Primary Hippocampal Neurons and Primary Cardiomyocytes

Objective To detect the effects of microwave on calcium levels in primary hippocampal neurons and primary cardiomyocytes by the real-time microwave exposure combined with laser scanning confocal microscopy. Methods The primary hippocampal neurons and primary cardiomyocytes were cultured and labeled with probes, including Fluo-4 AM, Mag-Fluo-AM, and Rhod-2, to reflect the levels of whole calcium [Ca], endoplasmic reticulum calcium [Ca]ER, and mitochondrial calcium [Ca]MIT, respectively. Then, the cells were exposed to a pulsed microwave of 2.856 GHz with specific absorption rate(SAR) values of 0, 4, and 40 W/kg for 6 min to observe the changes in calcium levels. Results The results showed that the 4 and 40 W/kg microwave radiation caused a significant decrease in the levels of [Ca], [Ca]ER, and [Ca]MIT in primary hippocampal neurons. In the primary cardiomyocytes, only the 40 W/kg microwave radiation caused the decrease in the levels of [Ca], [Ca]ER, and [Ca]MIT. Primary hippocampal neurons were more sensitive to microwave exposure than primary cardiomyocytes. The mitochondria were more sensitive to microwave exposure than the endoplasmic reticulum. Conclusion The calcium efflux was occurred during microwave exposure in primary hippocampal neurons and primary cardiomyocytes. Additionally, neurons and mitochondria were sensitive cells and organelle respectively.

Effect of Ce on microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-Zn-Ce magnesium alloys

The Mg-6Zn alloy with different contents of Ce was prepared by the gravity casting method,and then the Mg-6Zn-xCe(x=0,0.5,1.0,1.5,wt.%)alloys were extruded at 300℃and 350℃ after solution treatment.The phase constitution and microstructure evolution of Mg-Zn-xCe alloys were analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)and electron backscattering diffraction(EBSD).Meanwhile,the mechanical properties of the alloy were tested at room temperature.For as-cast alloys,the results show that the main compound in Mg-6Zn alloy is Mg4Zn7 phase,and the main compound is T-(MgZn)12Ce phase after the addition of different amounts of Ce.The microstructure and distribution of second phases are greatly improved after extrusion at 300℃and 350℃.Compared with initial mechanical properties,the strength and elongation increase obviously by means of extrusion at different temperatures.In addition,the microstructure after extrusion at 350℃is further analyzed according to EBSD data.The results show that rare earth element Ce probably promotes the activation of non-basal slip during the deformation process with the increase of Ce,which reduces the strength of basal texture and thus improves the plasticity of the alloy.Meanwhile,the increase of grain boundary migration ability leads to the gradual increase of recrystallization grain size and decreases the strength.
