Lightweight,Strong and High Heat-Resistant Poly(lactide acid)Foams via Microcellular Injection Molding with Self-Assembly Nucleating Agent

Poly(lactide acid)(PLA)foams have shown considerable promise as eco-friendly alternatives to nondegradable plastic foams,such as polystyrene(PS)***,PLA foam typically suffers from low heat-resistance and poor cellular structure stemming from its inherent slow crystallization rate and low melt *** this study,a high-performance PLA foam with well-defined cell morphology,exceptional strength and enhanced heat-resistance was successfully fabricated via a core-back microcellular injection molding(MIM)*** scanning calorimetry(DSC)results revealed that the added hydrazine-based nucleating agent(HNA)significantly increased the crystallization temperature and accelerated the crystallization process of ***,the addition of a 1.5 wt%of HNA led to a significant reduction in PLA’s cell size,from 43.5µm to 2.87µm,and a remarkable increase in cell density,from 1.08×10^(7)cells/cm^(3)to 2.15×10^(10)cells/cm^(3).This enhancement resulted in a final crystallinity of approximately 55.7%for the PLA blend foam,a marked improvement compared to the pure PLA ***,at 1.5 wt%HNA concentration,the tensile strength and tensile toughness of PLA blend foams demonstrated remarkable improvements of 136%and 463%,***,the Vicat softening temperature of PLA blend foam increased significantly to 134.8°C,whereas the pure PLA foam exhibited only about 59.7℃.These findings underscore the potential for the preparation of lightweight injection-molded PLA foam with enhanced toughness and heat-resistance,which offers a viable approach for the production of high-performance PLA foams suitable for large-scale applications.

Flotation separation of feldspar from quartz using sodium fluosilicate as a selective depressant

The physical and chemical properties of feldspar and quartz are highly similar,thus they cannot be easily separated *** this work,the flotation separation of feldspar from quartz using sodium fluosilicate(Na_(2)SiF_(6);SF)as a selective depressant was ***,the influence mechanism of SF on the selective flotation separation of feldspar and quartz was investigated via flotation tests,chemical analysis of flotation solution,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and contact angle *** results of the flotation tests show that feld spar and quartz without SF treatment have good *** SF treatment,feldspar still has good floatability,whereas quartz has significantly reduced *** solution chemical analysis shows that the functional group plays an important role in depressing the quartz is[SiF_(6)]^(2-).FTIR,XPS and contact angle analysis results show that[SiF_(6)]^(2-)is adsorbed only on the surface of ***,a thin hydrophilic SiOF layer is generated on the surface,which interferes with the adsorption of the collector on the surface of the *** phenomenon leads to a significant reduction in quartz's ***,SF has a good ability to separate feldspar from quartz by flotation.

Local scour around offshore wind turbine foundations presents a considerable challenge due to its potential influence on structural stability, driven by hydrodynamic forces. While research has made strides in comprehending scouring mechanisms, notable complexities persist, specifically with newer foundation types. Addressing these limitations is vital for advancing our understanding of scour mechanisms and for improving mitigation strategies in offshore wind energy development. This review synthesizes current findings on local scour across various offshore foundations, encompassing field observations, data-driven approaches, turbulence-sediment interactions, scour evolution processes, influencing factors, and numerical model advancements. The objective is to enrich our understanding of local scour mechanisms. In addition, future research directions are outlined, including the development of robust artificial intelligence models for accurate predictions, the exploration of vortex structure characteristics, and the refinement of numerical models to strengthen prediction capabilities while minimizing computational efforts.

This work explores a family of two-block nonconvex optimization problems subject to linear *** first introduce a simple but universal Bregman-style improved alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)based on the iteration framework of ADMM and the Bregman ***,we utilize the smooth performance of one of the components to develop a linearized version of *** to the traditional ADMM,both proposed methods integrate a convex combination strategy into the multiplier update *** each proposed method,we demonstrate the convergence of the entire iteration sequence to a unique critical point of the augmented Lagrangian function utilizing the powerful Kurdyka–Łojasiewicz property,and we also derive convergence rates for both the sequence of merit function values and the iteration ***,some numerical results show that the proposed methods are effective and encouraging for the Lasso model.

To the Editor:Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFpEF)is a clinical entity characterized by impaired diastolic *** recently,there have been few studies directly evaluating how volume status impacts future cardiac events for patients with *** supporting the application of spironolactone in HFpEF is mainly derived from the Treatment of Preserved Cardiac Function Heart Failure with an Aldosterone Antagonist(TOPCAT)*** though primary analysis of the trial reached a neutral result,subgroup and subsequent post hoc analyses have confirmed its efficacy in selected groups of patients,suggesting that identifying the potential subgroups of patients who would benefit from spironolactone treatment is important.[1]Data regarding the impact of congestion status on the efficacy of spironolactone in HFpEF are lacking.

Sheep have been one of the most important groups of animals since ancient ***,the knowledge of their migration routes and genetic relationships is still poorly *** investigate sheep maternal migration histories alongside Eurasian communications routes,in this study,we obtain mitochondrial genomes(mitogenomes)from 17 sheep remains in 6 Chinese sites and 1 Uzbekistan site dated 4429–3100 years before present(BP).By obtaining the mitogenomes from the sheep(4429–3556 BP)found in the Tongtian Cave site in Xinjiang,Altai region of northwest China,our results support the emergence of haplogroup C sheep in Xinjiang as early as 4429–3556 *** combined phylogenetic analyses with extant ancient and modern sheep mitogenomes suggest that the Uzbekistan-Altai region may have been a migration hub for early sheep in eastern *** least two migration events have taken place for sheep crossing Eurasia to China,one passing by Uzbekistan and Northwest China to the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River at approximately 4000 BP and another following the Altai region to middle Inner Mongolia from 4429 BP to 2500 ***,this study provides further evidence for early sheep utilization and migration patterns in Eastern Asia.

Casual associations between blood metabolites and colon cancer

BACKGROUND Limited knowledge exists regarding the casual associations linking blood metabolites and the risk of developing colorectal *** To investigate causal associations between blood metabolites and colon *** The study utilized a two-sample Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis to investigate the causal impact of 486 blood metabolites on colorectal *** primary method of analysis used was the inverse variance weighted *** further validate the results several sensitivity analyses were performed,including Cochran's Q test,MR-Egger intercept test,and MR robust adjusted profile *** additional analyses were conducted to ensure the reliability and robustness of the *** After rigorous selection for genetic variation,486 blood metabolites were included in the MR *** found Mannose[odds ratio(OR)=2.09(1.10-3.97),P=0.024],N-acetylglycine[OR=3.14(1.78-5.53),P=7.54×10^(-8)],X-11593-O-methylascorbate[OR=1.68(1.04-2.72),P=0.034],1-arachidonoylglycerophosphocholine[OR=4.23(2.51-7.12),P=6.35×10^(-8)]and 1-arachidonoylglycerophosphoethanolamine 4[OR=3.99(1.17-13.54),P=0.027]were positively causally associated with colorectal cancer,and we also found a negative causal relationship between Tyrosine[OR=0.08(0.01-0.63),P=0.014],Urate[OR=0.25(0.10-0.62),P=0.003],N-acetylglycine[0.73(0.54-0.98),P=0.033],X-12092[OR=0.89(0.81-0.99),P=0.028],Succinylcarnitine[OR=0.48(0.27-0.84),P=0.09]with colorectal cancer.A series of sensitivity analyses were performed to confirm the rigidity of the *** This study showed a causal relationship between 10 blood metabolites and colorectal cancer,of which 5 blood metabolites were found to be causal for the development of colorectal cancer and were confirmed as risk *** other five blood metabolites are protective factors.

Controlling the Si/C ratio in SiC matrix based on the modified polymethysilane for C/C-SiC composites with enhanced mechanical properties

Fabricating SiC matrix with controllable Si/C ratio for C/C-SiC composites via precursor infiltration and pyrolysis is difficult to realize due to the absence of suitable ***,SiC precursors with Si-rich(Si/C=1.23),nearstoichiometric(Si/C=1.01),and C-rich(Si/C=0.88)pyrolyzed ceramics at 1200℃ were successfully synthesized by the novel modification of *** structure and ceramization of synthesized SiC precursors were studied,and C/C-SiC composites with similar Si/C ratio in SiC matrix were also *** results revealed that the defects and Young’s modulus of SiC matrix and the thermal residual stress on pyrolytic carbon coated carbon fiber were determined by the Si/C *** a result,the Si/C ratio exerted significant effects on the crack deflection behavior and the mechanical properties of the *** composites with near-stoichiometric SiC matrix showed excellent mechanical properties because of the effective crack deflection and the moderate Young’s modulus of their SiC *** flexural strength,flexural modulus,and compressive strength were 423±27 MPa,33.41±4.52 GPa,and 393±8 MPa,***,after a heat treatment at 1600℃,the role of carbon fiber toughening was improved and accompanied by a decrease in mechanical properties for all composites,which was attributed to the increased defects in SiC matrix and the damaged interfaces by the thermal residual stress.

Pd single atoms cooperate with S vacancies in ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets for photocatalytic pure-water splitting

Photocatalytic water splitting has emerged as a new frontier for converting solar energy to green H_(2) and value-added ***,great challenges still remain for developing efficient photocatalysts for pure water splitting without sacrificial *** this work,we demonstrate that doping hexagonal ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS) with Pd single atoms(Pd_(0.03)/ZIS) can serve as a highly efficient photocatalyst for pure water splitting to simultaneously produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) without any sacrificial *** from aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy,X-ray fine spectroscopy,insitu electron paramagnetic resonance and diffuse Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveal that doping ZIS with Pd single atoms facilitates the formation of S vacancies(S_(v)),where the photogenerated electrons can transfer to Pd single atoms,as a result of enhanced separation of electron-hole pairs and improved photocatalytic ***,Pd_(0.03)/ZIS displays a stoichiometric ratio of H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) with the productivity of 1,037.9 and 1,021.4μmol g^(-1)h^(-1),respectively,which has largely outperformed pure ZIS and other reported catalysts for pure water *** work provides an efficient photocatalyst for water splitting to produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2),which may attract rapid interest in materials science,chemistry,and heterogeneous catalysis.
