In this study, the characteristics of the long term discharge of a Terraced Paddy Field Catchment are studied. 2.Kind of Tank Models are proposed and used to simulate the discharge of the catchment. The characteristics of the model simulations of the discharge of the catchment are analyzed and compared with those of a forest catchment.

Activities of the naturally occurring radionuclides, ^(2.0)Pb and ^(2.0)Po,were measured in both dissolved ( < 0.45 μm) and particulate ( > 0.45 μm) phases from surfacewaters of the southern South China Sea. The average activity of particulate ^(2.0)Pb, 0.2. Bq/m^3.(n= 2.), accounted for about 12. of the total ^(2.0)Pb, which corresponds with values of open *** ^(2.0)Po, with an average activity of 0.43.Bq/m^3. accounted for about 40% of the total^(2.0)Po, which was much higher than those of open and eutrophic oceans. The residence times oftotal ^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb in surface waters estimated from an irreversible steady-state model were0.82.a and 1.16 a, respectively. The consistently high fractionation factor calculated either byscavenging rate constants (5.42. or K_d values (6.69) suggested that a significant fractionationoccurred between ^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb during their removal from solution to particles and that thetwo radionuclides had different biogeochemical cycling pathways in the oligotrophic South China ***, our results indicated that there exist different fractionation mechanisms between^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb in different marine environments: in eutrophic ocean, plankton detritus andfecal pellets are the main carrier of ^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb, by which ^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb havebeen scavenged and removed; while in oligotrophic ocean, microbes could become the main carrier of^(2.0)Po and fractionate ^(2.0)Po and ^(2.0)Pb significantly as a result of scarce plankton detritusand fecal pellets. These results suggest the use of ^(2.0)Po to trace marine biogeochemicalprocesses relating to microbial activities and the cycling of sulfur group elements (S, Se, Te andPo).

Micrometer-sized Fe3.4 particles and nano-sized gold particles were first synthesized by methods of self-aggregation of surface-chemically modified Fe3.4 nanoparticles and citrate reduction of the Au3. to Au0, respectively. Interaction between these two types of particles resulted in the assembly of nano-sized gold particles on the surface of the micrometer-sized Fe3.4 particles, forming an assembled structure with the Fe3.4 core particles around which are attached nano-sized gold parti- cles. The Fe3.4/Au structure is named GoldMag particles with assembled structure. The synthetic process, structure, and magnetic property of the GoldMag particles were analyzed. GoldMag particles with assembled structure have an irregular shape, rough surface with a diameter of 2.3.μm. These particles exhibit the superparamagnetic property with saturated magnetization of 41 A·m2.kg. In a single step, antibodies could be readily immobilized onto the surface of the particles with a high binding capacity. The GoldMag particles can be used as a novel carrier in immunoassays. The maximum quantity of human IgG immobilized onto GoldMag particles was 3.0 μg/mg. In order to validate the quality of the GoldMag particles as immunoassay carriers, an immunoassay system was used. The relative amount of immobilized human IgG was measured by HRP-labeled anti human IgG. The coefficient of variation within parallel samples of each group was below 6% and the coefficient of variation of means between five groups carried out separately was below 7%. Based on the sandwich method, the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and interleukin-8 (Il-8) were also analyzed by qualitative and quantitative detection, respectively. The result indicated that the GoldMag particles with assembled structure were an ideal carrier in immunoassay.

Effect of an impurity on 3.electron quantum dots in magnetic fields

The ground-state property of a 2.dimensional 3.electron quantum dot (QD) subjected to an external magnetic fieldB and affected by an impurity is studied. The impurity is located at thez-axis by a distanced from the plane of the dot. The evolution of the angular momentuml o and the spinS o of the ground state in accordance withB andd has been calculated, and the results are summarized and plotted in a (l o,S o) diagram. The spatial distribution of the electrons (the size and the geometric features) and the optical absorption have also been investigated. The (l o S o) diagram indicates thatl o andS o may jump whend and/orB vary. It was found that, due to the constraints arising from symmetry, each symmetric geometry is accessible only to a specific group of states having specificl o andS o.

By means of survey of literature through compilations of sedimentological, biogeological and geomorphologic data, the inland lake level changes in arid or semi arid mainland Asia at 6 and 18 ka B.P. have been reconstructed. The results showed that the lakes from western and northwestern Asia were characterized by very high water levels at 18 ka B.P., but low or intermediate water stands at 6 ka B.P. The high lake level in this region was associated with the southward displacement of westerlies, therefore, the extent of the high lake stand indicated the southern flank of westerlies during the glaciation. Conversely, the lakes from the eastern and southern Asia registered comparative low levels at 18 ka B.P. and significantly high one at 6 ka B.P. The lowering of lake level at 18 ka B.P. was caused by the weakened summer monsoon and the high lake level at 6 ka B.P. by the enhanced summer monsoon induced by the enlarged thermal contrast between land and ocean. The extent of high lake levels indicated the northern boundary of monsoon expansion. Between the above two regions, there is a climatic transitional zone in the Central Asia where the lake behavior was close to that in southeastern Asia at 6 ka B.P. but became similar to that in northwestern Asia at 18 ka B.P. Thus this zone became a transitional sector from the monsoon to the westerlies.

Early Hydration of Composite Cement with Thermal Activated Coal Gangue

Composite cement samples were prepared by mixing clinker, gypsum with burnt coal gangues which was calcined at various temperatures. The mechanical strength and Ca（OH）2.content in the cement paste were tested, and the paste composition and microstructure were analyzed by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis （TG-DSC）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） and pore structure analysis. Results demonstrate that the thermal activated coal gangue could accelerate the early hydration of cement clinker obviously, which promotes the gangue hydration itself. The early hydrated products of the cement are C-S-H gel, Ca（OH）2.and AFt. The cement with 3.% （in mass） the gangue exhibits higher mechanical strength, and among all the cement samples the one with the gangue burnt at 700 ℃ displays the highest hydration rate, mechanical strength, the most gel pores and the lowest total porosity.

The newly developed full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (lAPW) and local orbitals (lo) based on standard APW methods are briefly introduced, and the structure and magnetic properties of R(Fe, Si)12.compounds (R = Y, Nd) are calculated using the method. The distribution of Si at different sites is analyzed based on total energy of one crystal unit with structure having been optimized. The characters of magnetic mo-ments, total density of states (TDOS) and partial density of states (PDOS) for different crystal sites Si occupies are obtained and analyzed. The results show that the total mag-netic moments of RFe10Si2.(R = Y, Nd) are larger than those of RFe10M2.(M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Mo and W) and the hybridization mechanism is seen as follows. Si(8j) reduce the mag-netic moments of Fe at three sites, however, Si(8f) mainly reduce the magnetic moments of Fe(8i) and Fe(8j) atoms. The Curie temperature is markedly enhanced by the introduc-tion of Si atoms according to spin fluctuation of DOS at Fermi level.

A class of multivariate filter banks with a matrix factorization has been developed by Chen et al. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss some further properties of this kind of filter bank, such as the completeness, accuracy of the corresponding scaling functions and the relationships with Daubechies' wavelets and the multi-wavelets provided by Chui and lian. Moreover, some examples are given to show that this kind of filter bank has a higher accuracy for the scaling functions.
