In this talk,we report on our advances in research development of high-quality graphene sheets,graphene-based transistors,and photodetectors. We will elaborate on growth mechanisms of graphene and scattering mechanisms of electronic transport on supported graphene. We will present several interface engineering strategies in fabricating high-quality graphene sheets,and devising high-performance graphene-based transistors and photodetectors by reducing the electrically detrimental species at the active interface via highly-ordered self-assembled monolayers(SAMs),as well as by promoting photon-graphene interaction via hybrid graphene/photonic waveguide and heterostructure configurations. We envisage that both ultrasmooth SAM platform and optically-active structures will be generically appropriate for other 2D materials for attaining high device performance.
