In this paper a dynamical model of a two degree of freedom,tendon based,parallel manipulator (TBPM) system is proposed. The motion control methods of the TBPM system were designed. Using MATLAB,the motion control simulation of this model TBPM system was implemented in preparation for actual experiments. The results of the simulation demonstrated that the response time of the system was in a reasonable range,the motion behavior of the platform was stable and the tension forces acting on the tendons were in a safe range and acceptable. Furthermore,the parameters of the controllers were optimized using MATLAB and better results for the time response were obtained.

Freeze-thaw damage is one of the main threats to the long time performance of the concrete pavement in the cold regions. This project aims to evaluate the influence of the freeze-thaw damages on pavement distresses under different climate conditions. Based on the Long-Term Pavement Performance （LTPP） data base, the freeze-thaw damage generated by four different kinds of climate conditions are considered in this project： wet-freeze, wet-non freeze, dry- freeze and dry-non freeze. The amount of the transverse crack and the joint spalling, along with the International Roughness Index （IR/） are compared among the test sections located in these four different climate conditions. The back calculation with the Falling Weight Deflectometer （FWD） test results based on the ERES and the Estimation of Concrete Pavement Parameters （ECOPP） methods are conducted to obtain concrete slab elastic modulus and the subgrade k-value. These two parameters both decrease with service time under freeze condition. Finally, MEPDG simulation is conducted to simulate the IR/development with service year. These results showed the reasonable freeze-thaw damage development with pavement service life and under different climate conditions.

The relationship between pain and associated characteristics of chronic ankle instability:A retrospective study

Background'. Up to 74% of people with a history of ankle sprain develop chronic ankle instability (CAI). One commonly reported residualimpairment is ankle pain;however, it has not been included in models or inclusion criteria for CAL We investigated the prevalence of pain inpeople with CAI and the association between presence of pain and other CAI ***'. Retrospective data from 1147 participants with CAI (age 26.6 ± 10.7 years, 59% female) were collated from previous studies that usedthe Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool as an assessment tool. Pain was assessed from Item 1 of the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool, whichasks participants about ankle pain. Responses were divided into 3 categories: pain during daily activities, pain during moderate/vigorous physicalactivities, and no pain. The presence of pain was analyzed with descriptive statistics, the correlation between pain category and CAI characteris・tics was analyzed by /2 tests and factors associated with each pain category were analyzed by logistic ***'. Among the participants, 60.1% (n = 689) reported ankle pain. Of all participants, 12.4% (n = 142) reported pain during daily activities,47.7% (n = 547) reported pain during moderate/vigorous physical activities, and 39.9% (n = 458) reported no pain. There was a strong associationbetween ankle instability and ankle pain (/2 = 122.2, p < 0.001, OR = 53& 95% confidence interval (CI): 3.84—7.53). Perceived ankle instability,age and unilateral ankle sprains were independently associated with pain (ankle instability: /2 = 43.29, p < 0.001;age: /2 = 30.37,p < 0.001;unilateral ankle sprains: /2 = 6.25, p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the presence of pain between ***-. The prevalence of pain in people with CAI was high and was related to perceived ankle instability. A recent study demonstrated that in small-scale prepolarized surface nuclear magnetic resonance(SNMR-PP)measurements with a footprint of a few square meters,customized PP switch-off ramps can serve as an efficient excitation mechanism,eliminating the requirement for a conventional oscillating excitation *** approach enables the detection of short relaxation signals from the unsaturated soil zone and can,therefore,be used to directly provide soil moisture and pore geometry *** ultimately such small-scale SNMR-PP setups are intended for a mobile application,it is necessary to develop strategies that allow for speedy measurement progress and do not require noise cancellation protocols based on reference ***,we developed a new concentric figure-of-eight(cFOE)loop layout that combines the direction independence of a circular loop with the intrinsic noise cancellation properties of a classical *** approach significantly decreases the measurement time because suitable signal-to-noise ratios are reached much faster compared to a classical circular loop and will bring us one step further toward fast and non-invasive soil moisture mapping applications.

Muscle formation is a coordinated process driven by extensive gene expression changes where single cells fuse together to form multinucleated muscle fibers. Newly synthesized m RNAs are then regulated by RNA binding proteins(RBPs), affecting post-transcriptional transcript metabolism. Here, we determined how large-scale gene expression changes affect the catalog of RBPs by studying proliferating and differentiated muscle cells in healthy and dystrophic conditions. Transcriptomic analysis showed that the expression of more than 7000 genes was affected during myogenesis. We identified 769 RBPs, of which 294 were muscle-specific and 49 were uniquely shared with cardiomyocytes. A subset of 32 RBPs(half of which were muscle-specific) was found to be preferentially associated with target mRNAs in either myoblasts(MBs) or myotubes(MTs). A large proportion of catalytic proteins were bound to mRNAs even though they lack classical RNA binding domains. Finally, we showed how the identification of cell-specific RBPs enabled the identification of biomarkers that can separate healthy individuals from dystrophic patients. Our data show how interactome data can shed light on new basic RNA biology as well as provide cell-specific data that can be used for diagnostic purposes.

The Selenge River Basin occupies a total area of 447,000 km^2, of which 343,000 km^2 is located within Mongolia(the remainder is in Russia). The basin is characterized by an extreme continental climate, consisting of harsh, cold, dry winters and short, hot summers. Annual average temperatures are approximately-4℃ and annual rainfall ranges from 220 mm to 450 *** Selenge River Basin is a critical groundwater resource for Mongolia. Greater than 55%(~1.5 million) of Mongolia’s population resides within the basin and, during 2003, an estimated average of 700,000 m^3/day of water was abstracted from the basin’s groundwater system. The basin services Mongolia’s largest cities and industries(including the rapidly expanding mining sector) as well as important traditional pastoral ranges. However, due to the great spatial extent and irregularity of groundwater resources in the basin, coupled with the equally heterogeneous concentration of evolving landuses, some local aquifers near major centres are likely being overexploited, hence it is important to manage each sub-catchment individually within a greater overall management plan. Sustainable yields need to be determined to ensure maintenance of current groundwater levels and environmental flows for rivers, as well as providing a sustainable resource for continued utilisation. These need to be incorporated into management strategies at the international, regional and local level to ensure ongoing conservation of the resource and fair access for all stakeholders.

In order to study the physiological or pathophysiological responsiveness, airway smooth muscle cells were isolated from the rat trachea and cultured. The tracheas of adult rats were obtained by autopsy within 30 minutes after death and placed into a modified Hank’s solution. The experiments were performed on the large branches of the rat bronchi following entry into the lung. At the terminal level of the airway, no cartilage segments were seen. The muscle layer was prepared by careful removal of the connective tissue, cut into small pieces (1 mm3), and dispersed enzymatically (collagenase, elastase) into single cells. Freshly isolated cells could be used the same day. The small muscle pieces and isolated cells were cultured in the modified Hank’s or modified Eagle’s medium with 5% CO2 at 37℃ .
