Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)has aggressive characteristics as exemplified by the high risk of recurrence,metastasis,and patient mortality.1 Cytotoxic chemotherapy may reduce tumor burden initially,but leave behind chemo-resistant breast cancer stem cells(BCSCs)that lead to tumor recurrence and metastasis.2 Chemotherapy induces BCsC enrichment through the activation of glutathione biosynthesis pathways,which increases intracellular glutathione levels and specifies the BCSC phenotype through complicated downstream signaling pathways.3 Glutathione S-transferases(GSTs),a superfamily(which contains seven cytosolic classes:Alpha,Kappa,Mu,Omega,Pi,Theta,and Zeta,and one microsomal class MGSTs)of phase Il enzymes that catalyze the conjugation of glutathione with electrophilic compounds,play a critical role in detoxification and chemotherapy resistance of cancer cells.However,the role of GSTs in the regulation of BCSCs is largely elusive.

Background:The accuracy of using total keratometry(TK)value in recent IOL power calculation formulas in highly myopic eyes remained unknown.Methods:Highly myopic patients who underwent uneventful cataract surgery were prospectively enrolled in this prospective comparative study.At one month postoperatively,standard deviation(SD)of the prediction errors(PEs),mean and median absolute error(MedAE)of 103 highly myopic eyes were back-calculated and compared among ten formulas,including XGboost,RBF 3.0,Kane,Barrett Universal II,Emmetropia Verifying Optical 2.0,Cooke K6,Haigis,SRK/T,and Wang-Koch modifications of Haigis and SRK/T formulas,using either TK or standard keratometry(K)value.Results:In highly myopic eyes,despite good agreement between TK and K(P>0.05),larger differences between the two were associated with smaller central corneal thickness(Phe refractive errors,TK method showed no differences compared to K method.The XGBoost,RBF 3.0 and Kane ranked top three when considering SDs of PEs.Using TK value,the XGboost calculator was comparable with the RBF 3.0 formula(P>0.05),which both presented smaller MedAEs than others(all Phe percentage of eyes within±0.50 D or±0.75 D of PE,the XGBoost TK showed comparable percentages with the RBF 3.0 TK formula(74.76%vs.66.99%,or 90.29%vs.87.38%,P>0.05),and statistically larger percentages than the other eight formulas(Plusions:Highly myopic eyes with thinner corneas tend to have larger differences between TK and K.The XGboost enhancement calculator and RBF 3.0 formula using TK showed the most promising outcomes in highly myopic eyes.

Adsorption is one of the most feasible and effective methods to alleviate the volatile organic compounds(VOCs)pollution.However,the mixture effect and mechanism for competitive adsorption of VOCs on zeolites are barely addressed.In this study,toluene,acetone,and ethyl acetate as prevalent VOCs species were removed by four potential zeolites(13X,USY,Beta,ZSM-5)in both single-and multi-component systems.The structure-property relationship between adsorbate-adsorbent pairs was revealed by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectrometer,X-ray fluorescence,N_(2) adsorption and density function theory calculation.The molecular polarity and volatility of VOCs species played key roles in adsorption and the dynamic uptakes were generally listed as follows:ethyl acetate>toluene>acetone.As for the above VOCs mixtures,13X zeolite selectively adsorbed oxygenated VOCs rather than toluene.In contrast,USY exhibited a preference to trap toluene.Ethyl acetate could be readily enriched by ZSM-5 and Beta selectively.The possible explanations and implications are discussed based on the subtle change in electron density.The results obtained are vital for understanding the mixture effect of VOCs adsorption and may guide the selection of proper adsorbent for real applications.

The significant increase in the demand for biomass waste treatment after garbage classification has led to housefly larvae treatment becoming an attractive treatment option.It can provide a source of protein while treating biomass waste,which means that nutrients can be returned to the natural food chain.However,the performance of this technology in terms of its environmental impacts is still unclear,particularly with regards to global warming potential(GWP).This study used a life cycle assessment(LCA)approach to assess a housefly larvae treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 50 tons of biomass waste per day.The LCA results showed that the 95% confidence intervals for the GWP in summer and winter were determined to be 24.46-32.81 kg CO_(2) equivalent(CO_(2)-eq)/ton biomass waste and5.37-10.08 kg CO_(2)-eq/ton biomass waste,respectively.The greater GWP value in summer is due to the longer ventilation time and higher ventilation intensity in summer,which consumes more power.The main GWP contributions are from(1)electricity needs(accounting for 78.6% of emissions in summer and 70.2%in winter)and(2)product substitution by mature housefly larvae and compost(both summer and winter accounting for 96.8% of carbon reduction).

Environmental DNA(eDNA)monitoring,a rapidly advancing technique for assessing biodiversity and ecosystem health,offers a noninvasive approach for detecting and quantifying species from various environmental samples.In this review,a comprehensive overview of current eDNA collection and detection technologies is provided,emphasizing the necessity for standardization and automation in aquatic ecological monitoring.Furthermore,the intricacies of water bodies,from streams to the deep sea,and the associated challenges they pose for eDNA capture and analysis are explored.The paper delineates three primary eDNA survey methods,namely,bringing back water,bringing back filters,and bringing back data,each with specific advantages and constraints in terms of labor,transport,and data acquisition.Additionally,innovations in eDNA sampling equipment,including autonomous drones,subsurface samplers,and in-situ filtration devices,and their applications in monitoring diverse taxa are discussed.Moreover,recent advancements in species-specific detection and eDNA metabarcoding are addressed,highlighting the integration of novel techniques such as CRISPR-Cas and nanopore sequencing that enable precise and rapid detection of biodiversity.The implications of environmental RNA and epigenetic modifications are considered for future applications in providing nuanced ecological data.Lastly,the review stresses the critical role of standardization and automation in enhancing data consistency and comparability for robust long-term biomonitoring.We propose that the amalgamation of these technologies represents a paradigm shift in ecological monitoring,aligning with the urgent call for biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems.

Electrocatalytic depolymerization of lignin into value-added chemicals offers a promising technique to make biorefining sustainable.herein,we report a robust trimetallic PdNiBi electrocatalyst for reductive C–O bond cleavage of different lignin model dimers and oxidized lignin under mild conditions.The reduction reaction proceeds with complete substrate conversion and excellent yields toward monomers of phenols(80%–99%)and acetophenones(75%–96%)in the presence of an ionic liquid electrolyte with operational stability.Systematic experimental investigations together with density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal that the outstanding performance of the catalyst results from the synergistic effect of the metal elements,which facilitates the easier formation of a key Cαradical intermediate and the facile desorption of the as-formed products at the electrode.The results open up new opportunities for lignin valorization through the green electrocatalytic approach.

Capacitor Voltage Imbalance Mechanism and Balancing Control of MMC When Riding Through PTG Fault

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) based fault ride through (FRT) control is a promising solution to deal with the pole-to-ground (PTG) fault in high voltage direct current (HVDC) system. However, when MMC switches to the FRT control, capacitor voltage imbalance between upper and lower arms will occur, resulting in the deterioration of FRT performance. This letter provides a comprehensive analysis for the imbalance issue from the perspective of fundamental frequency circulating current (FFCC). It is found the imbalance during FRT stage will not expand continuously, but converge to a certain value gradually. The specific imbalance degree is closely associated with the amplitude of FFCC. In order to solve the imbalance issue, an open-loop balancing control is proposed. By introducing a fundamental frequency feedforward item to the inherent circulating current control, the proposed method can not only balance the capacitor voltages, but also minimize the amplitude of FFCC, and consequently the power loss of MMC during FRT process can be reduced. Finally, simulation results of PSCAD/ EMTDC verify the validity of theoretical analysis.

To evaluate the safety of the bulb tubular turbine,the dynamic hydraulic characteristics of a hydropower station system during the load rejection process are studied through numerical simulations and a prototype test.In the developed model,a dynamic grid technology(DGT)controls the closure of the guide vane and the blade,whilst the moment balance equation and the user-defined function(UDF)provide the runner’s rotation speed.The 3-D transient simulation method can well predict the rotation speed and mass flow curves in the state of load rejection.The simulation outcomes of the system performance are basically consistent with the measurement data of the prototype.As observed,the runner is subjected to the reversely increased torque and axial force,the system is in a braking phase,and the maximum speed peaks at 144.6%of the rated speed.Moreover,the internal flow of the runner is greatly affected by the closure of the guide vane,and the draft tube forms an eccentric spiral vortex rope.It breaks downstream,aggravating the instability of the draft tube.Overall,the transient characteristics span for the first five seconds,demonstrating the importance of establishing an efficient governing controller.The obtained results are useful for designing the turbine’s flow channel with a double regulating function and comprehending the turbine’s transient characteristics.

Porous carbon materials(PCMs)play a pivotal role in diverse applications,such as energy storage,adsorption,catalysis,environmental remediation,and microwave adsorption.The selection of carbon precursors,in particular,is crucial for tailoring porous structures with specific functionalities.Biomass,with its rich carbon feedstock,abundant availability,renewability,and versatile structures,has emerged as a promising precursor for porous carbon material synthesis.This review comprehensively summarizes the recent advances in biomass-derived porous carbon materials(BPCMs)encompassing synthetic strategy,morphology,structural composition,and multiple applications.We first review synthetic approaches aiming at regulating porosity,followed by morphological and composition features of BPCMs,with a special emphasis on elucidating the dimensional clarification and heteroatom doping effects.The discussion then extends to the wide-ranging applications of BPCMs,covering energy-related applications and CO_(2) adsorption to environmental remediation.Finally,the review outlines the existing challenges and prospects in the field.In summary,this review systematically describes BPCMs and provides valuable guidance for researchers to select and synthesize BPCMs that meet specific functional requirements.
