To investigate the effect of fluorination on surface electrical performance of ethylene propylene rubber(EPR),four pieces of EPR specimens are prepared and fluorinated for different duration ranging from 120 min to 480 *** surface morphology and element compositions of experimental specimens are *** surface potential decay and complex permittivity are *** tracking discharge property and the erosion properties after tracking test are *** surface charge transport and electrical property tailoring mechanism are *** results show that when the fluorination duration is from 120 min to 360 min,the surface morphology gradually becomes flat and compact with time,and the surface resistance to electrical tracking is *** an excessive fluorination with the duration of 480 min leads to a significant increase in surface conductivity and a weakening in the resistance to electrical tracking,which is mainly due to a change in surface *** recommended fluorination duration for an optimised surface property is between 240 and 360 min for EPR specimen.

The phenomenon of multiphase flow in porous media is confronted in various fields of science and industrial applications. Owing to the complicated porous structure, the flow mechanisms are still not completely resolved. A critical and fundamental question is the variation of pore structure and REV sizes among different types of porous media. In this study, a total of 22 porous samples were employed to systematically evaluate the pore-based architecture and REV sizes based on X-ray CT image analysis and pore network modelling. It is found that the irregular grain shapes give rise to large specific areas,narrow and thin throats in identical sand packs. The packs with more types of sands, or composited by the sands with larger difference in diameter, have larger specific area, smaller tortuosity and pore *** on the REV measurement through porosity solely, the REV sizes of sand packs are generally in the order of magnitude of 10^(-2) m L, while it is at least one order of magnitude smaller in rock cores. Our result indicates that the combination of porosity and Euler number is an effective indicator to get the REV sizes of porous samples.

Brassinosteroids fine-tune secondary and primary sulfur metabolism through BZR1-mediated transcriptional regulation

For adaptation to ever-changing environments,plants have evolved elaborate metabolic systems coupled to a regulatory network for optimal growth and defense. Regulation of plant secondary metabolic pathways such as glucosinolates(GSLs) by defense phytohormones in response to different stresses and nutrient deficiency has been intensively investigated, while how growth-promoting hormone balances plant secondary and primary metabolism has been largely unexplored. Here, we found that growth-promoting hormone brassinosteroid(BR) inhibits GSLs accumulation while enhancing biosynthesis of primary sulfur metabolites, including cysteine(Cys) and glutathione(GSH) both in Arabidopsis and Brassica crops, fine-tuning secondary and primary sulfur metabolism to promote plant growth. Furthermore, we demonstrate that of BRASSINAZOLE RESISTANT 1(BZR1), the central component of BR signaling, exerts distinct transcriptional inhibition regulation on indolic and aliphatic GSL via direct MYB51 dependent repression of indolic GSL biosynthesis, while exerting partial MYB29 dependent repression of aliphatic GSL biosynthesis. Additionally, BZR1 directly activates the transcription of APR1 and APR2 which encodes rate-limiting enzyme adenosine 5′-phosphosulfate reductases in the primary sulfur metabolic *** summary, our findings indicate that BR inhibits the biosynthesis of GSLs to prioritize sulfur usage for primary metabolites under normal growth *** findings expand our understanding of BR promoting plant growth from a metabolism perspective.

Background and Aims:Recent accumulating evidence indicates the biological actions of autotaxin(ATX)in liver ***,the relationship between ATX and liver failure has not been *** present study aimed to examine alterations of serum ATX in acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)and evaluate whether serum ATX could be useful as an early warning biomarker of ***:Serum ATX was measured in 50 patients with hepatitis B-related ACLF,14 patients with alcohol-related ACLF,11 patients with hepatitis B-related pre-ACLF,11 patients with alcohol-related Child-Pugh A cirrhosis,39 patients with hepatitis B-related Child-Pugh A cirrhosis,26 patients with chronic hepatitis B,and 38 healthy volunteers by enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***:Serum ATX level was significantly higher in the pre-ACLF group than in the Child-Pugh A cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B groups but lower than in the ACLF group;furthermore,patients with pre-ACLF deteriorated to ACLF had significantly higher serum ATX levels than pre-ACLF patients that did not progress to *** ATX levels were significantly higher among male ACLF patients with preclinical infection,spontaneous bacterial peritonitis or pneumonia,as compared to patients with ACLF but no spontaneous bacterial peritonitis or *** ATX levels were well correlated with serum biochemical parameters of liver function and model for end-stage liver disease *** ATX≥584.1 ng/mL was a poor prognostic factor for ACLF(hazard ratio of 4.750,95%confidence interval of 1.106-20.392,p=0.036).Conclusions:Serum ATX level may be a useful early warning biomarker for ACLF.

Secure beamforming and deployment design for rate-splitting multiple access-based UAV communications

Rate-splitting multiple access(RSMA) has recently gained attention as a potential robust multiple access(MA)scheme for upcoming wireless networks. Given its ability to efficiently utilize wireless resources and design interference management strategies, it can be applied to unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) networks to provide convenient services for large-scale access ground users. However, due to the line-of-sight(LoS) broadcast nature of UAV transmission, information is susceptible to eavesdropping in RSMA-based UAV networks. Moreover, the superposition of signals at the receiver in such networks becomes complicated. To cope with the challenge, we propose a two-user multi-input single-output(MISO) RSMA-based UAV secure transmission framework in downlink communication networks. In a passive eavesdropping scenario, our goal is to maximize the sum secrecy rate by optimizing the transmit beamforming and deployment location of the UAV-base station(UAV-BS),while considering quality-of-service(QoS) constraints, maximum transmit power, and flight space limitations. To address the non-convexity of the proposed problem, the optimization problem is first decoupled into two subproblems. Then, the successive convex approximation(SCA) method is employed to solve each subproblem using different propositions. In addition, an alternating optimization(AO)-based location RSMA(L-RSMA) beamforming algorithm is developed to implement joint optimization to obtain the suboptimal solution. Numerical results demonstrate that(1) the proposed L-RSMA scheme yields a28.97% higher sum secrecy rate than the baseline L-space division multiple access(SDMA) scheme;(2) the proposed L-RSMA scheme improves the security performance by 42.61% compared to the L-non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) scheme.

Simulation of hard–soft material interaction under impact loading employing the material point method

Understanding the mechanisms of hard–soft material interaction under impact loading is important not only in the defense industry but also in daily ***,traditional mesh-based spatial discretization methods that are time consuming owing to the need for frequent re-meshing,such as the finite element method and finite difference method,can hardly handle large deformation involving failure evolution in a multi-phase interaction *** objective of this research is to develop a quasi-meshless particle method based on the material point method for the model-based simulation of the hard–soft material interaction *** demonstrate the proposed procedure,scenarios of a hard–soft material impact test are considered,where a force is applied to layers of materials and a hard bar with an initial velocity impacts a target with layers of different *** stress wave propagation and resulting failure evolution are simulated and compared with available *** research tasks are then discussed on the basis of the preliminary results.
