BACKGROUND; Polymorphisms of urokinase-type plasminogen activator gene （PLAU） have recently been reported to be associated with sporadic Alzheimer＇ disease （SAD）. However, most studies have focused on the exon region of this gene, and there is no report on the association between promoter polymorphisms of the PLAU and SAD. OBJECTIVE： To determine whether SAD is associated with promoter polymorphisms of PLAU in Northem han Chinese. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A case-control study was performed at Neurology Laboratory of Xuanwu Hospital of the Capital Medical University from September 2006 to July 2008. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 397 participants living in Beijing were assigned to SAD [n = 196, including 103 males and 93 females, mean age of （64 ± 7） years] and control [n = 201, including 108 males and 93 females, mean age of （68 ± 6） years] groups. The patients were diagnosed and met the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke-Alzheimer＇s Disease and Related Disorder Association criteria for possible Alzheimer＇s disease. Controls received clinical, mental, and neurological examinations to rule out cognitive deficiencies. All controls had Mini-Mental Status Examination scores 〉 27. METHODS： Genotypes of PLAU and apolipoprotein-E were examined in 196 patients with SAD and 201 age- and sex-matched controls from the same community using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. SPSS 11.5 software was used for data analysis, distribution of allele and genotypic frequency were calculated, and Hardy-Weinberg was also performed in this study. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： The main outcome measures were allele and genotype frequency differences in the promoter region of the PLAU gene between SAD and control subjects. Early-and late-onset narcolepsy constitutes two distinct diagnostic ***,it is not clear whether symptomology and genetic risk factors differ between early-and late-onset *** study compared clinical data and single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)between early-and late-onset patients in a large cohort of 899 han Chinese narcolepsy ***,cerebrospinal fluid,and clinical data were prospectively collected from patients,and patients were genotyped for 40 previously reported narcolepsy risk-conferring *** risk scores(GRSs),associations of five different sets of SNPs(GRS1–GRS5)with early-and late-onset narcolepsy,were evaluated using logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic *** sleep latency was significantly shorter in early-onset cases than in late-onset *** severity was greater among late-onset patients,with higher rates of sleep paralysis,hypnagogic hallucinations,health-related quality of life impairment,and concurrent presentation with four or more *** levels did not differ significantly between early-and late-onset *** rs3181077(CCR1/CCR3)and rs9274477(HLA-DQB1)were more prevalent among early-onset *** GRS1(26 SNPs;OR=1.513,95%CI:0.893–2.585;P<0.05)and GRS5(6 SNPs;OR=1.893,95%CI:1.204–2.993;P<0.05)were associated with early-onset narcolepsy,with areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves of 0.731 and 0.732,*** GRS1 nor GRS5 included SNPs in HLA *** results indicate that symptomology and genetic risk factors differ between early-and late-onset *** protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board(IRB)Panels on Medical Human Subjects at Peking University People’s Hospital,China(approval *** 86)in October 2011.

为了探究黏结剂聚乙烯醇(PVA)聚合度、交联剂硼酸(HB)含量、添加剂聚苯胺(PANI)以及壳聚糖(CTS)对硝酸羟胺基电控固体推进剂(han-ECSP)力学性能和燃烧启停性能的影响,采用溶胀法制备试样,通过拉伸测试、燃烧启停性能测试、X射线衍射(XRD)、傅里叶变换红外衰减全反射(FTIR-ATR)、光学电子显微镜对力学性能及燃烧启停性能进行研究。结果表明,不同聚合度PVA结晶度差别不大,PVA聚合度为(2400±50)时,─OH含量相对较多力学性能更好。HB含量影响PVA的交联密度,PVA_(2499)-20%HB致密性相对较差,表面凹陷不平整。PVA_(2499)-18%HB抗拉强度为2.36 MPa,抗拉伸长率为482.92%,力学性能最好,但对铜电极具有较强的腐蚀性。以8%的HB与PVA交联形成第一网络,加入PANI或CTS与PVA形成半互穿聚合物网络,PVA_(2499)-8%HB-2%PANI推进剂抗拉强度为1.03 MPa,抗拉伸长率为432.85%。PVA_(2499)-8%HB-1%CTS推进剂抗拉强度为0.87 MPa,抗拉伸长率为302.28%。添加PANI或CTS的ECSP均可以实现启停,且最高燃烧温度均可以达到800℃。

Background and Aims:Recent genome-wide association studies have shown that low-density lipoprotein receptor(LDLR)rs1433099 polymorphism is associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD)risk in many ***,the association of LDLR rs1433099 with CVD in China has not been reported *** are no studies on LDLR rs1433099 and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)as *** purpose of this study was to investigate whether LDLR rs1433099 is related to CVD or NAFLD in the Chinese ***:LDLR rs1433099 polymorphism was genotyped in 507 individuals,including 140 healthy controls,79 NAFLD patients,185 CVD patients,and 103 patients with NAFLD combined with *** expression of LDLR was tested by the sequence detection system,and clinical parameters were assessed by biochemical tests and physical ***:The genotype distribution of LDLR rs1433099 was not statistically different among the NAFLD group,the CVD group,the combined group,and the healthy control group(p>0.05).There was no significant correlation of LDLR rs1433099 genotypic distribution or allele frequency and the risk of NAFLD,CVD or NAFLD combined with CVD(p>0.05).In the CVD group,T allele carriers had higher alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase than non-carriers(phanism involving alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase.

Differences in Heart Stroke Volume between han and Korean-Chinese Nationalities and Correlative Factors

Objective To compare the differences in stroke volume （SV） and stroke volume index （Sl） between han and Korean-Chinese and to investigate the correlated risk factors. Methods A total of 1 647 han and 876 Korean-Chinese aged 10-80 years were investigated. SV, SI, cardiac output, cardiac output index, heart rate （HR）, systemic vascular resistance （SVR）, systemic vascular resistance index （SVRI）, and blood pressure were measured. Results SV/SI values in Korean-Chinese were lower than those in the han of the same sex and age. Covariance analysis showed that, apart from the effect of sex, age and body mass index （BMI）, the differences in SV and SI between the two cohorts were still significant （P〈O.O01）. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the SV difference between the two ethnicities was affected （in descending order from a strong to weak correlation） by SVR, SVRI, HR, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, BMI, and systolic blood pressure, while the SI difference was affected by SVR, SVRI, HR, mean arterial pressure, diastolic and systolic blood pressure, and BMI. Conclusion The Fact that SV and SI in Korean-Chinese are lower than those in han is related with higher SVR, HR and blood pressure in the Korean-Chinese.

Association and differences in genetic polymorphisms in PCSK9 gene in subjects with lacunar infarction in the han and Uygur populations of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China

Polymorphisms in the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9（PCSK9） gene are associated with severe hypercholesterolemia and stroke. Here, we investigated the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms in PCSK9 and stroke in 237 patients with lacunar infarction in the Uygur and han populations in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. Using the SNa Pshot single-base terminal extension method, four PCSK9 gene polymorphisms were analyzed. We found a significantly strong relationship between the PCSK9 rs17111503（G 〉 A） polymorphism and increased susceptibility to lacunar infarction by variant homozygote comparison, and using the dominant and recessive models in the han population but not in the Uygur population. Low triglyceride levels were found in AA carriers（rs17111503, G 〉 A） in the han population but not in the Uygur population. Association analysis revealed that the rs17111503（G 〉 A） polymorphism was not significantly associated with smoking, alcohol drinking, history of hypertension or diabetes in the han or Uygur lacunar infarction patients. rs11583680, rs483462 and rs505151 were not associated with risk of lacunar infarction in the han or Uygur populations. Our findings suggest that the PCSK9 rs17111503（G 〉 A） polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to lacunar infarction in the han population but not in the Uygur population.

Cerebrovascular disease has been the leading cause of mortality in the world1[]. In China alone,1.5–2 million new patients are diagnosed with cerebrovascular disease ever year, and 80%–85% of them suffer from acute cerebral ischemia[2]. The acute cerebral ischemia can lead to anoxia and ischemia of brain tissue and subsequent necrosis or encephalomalacia, resulting in focal or global cerebral injury. At present, the treatment differs by patients and mortality remains to be high. Hence,further study on the molecular mechanism of the disease is essential to further improve the prognosis of the patients.

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus(KSHV) is the infectious etiologic agent associated with Kaposi's sarcoma(KS), primary effusion lymphoma, and multicentric Castleman disease. It has been shown that high KSHV prevalence and high incidence of both classic KS and AIDSassociated KS are found mostly among people of Uygur ethnicity in Xinjiang, while people of han ethnicity in Xinjiang have a higher KSHV seroprevalence than those of other han populations in China's Mainland. However, it is still unclear why there is such geographical and population variation in KSHV distribution in China. In this work, we focused on the populations in the Kashgar region and Urumqi area, where a total of 1294 research subjects were randomly selected to investigate the potential correlation between KSHV prevalence and different ethnicities in endemic areas of Xinjiang, and to determine risk factors that may affect KSHV infection rates or KS incidence. We identified a high seroprevalence of KSHV and high peripheral blood DNA infection in the general Uygur and han populations in both Urumqi and Kashgar regions of Xinjiang, and determined that advancing age, low education level, and stationary population status affect KSHV infection rates. Further, KSHV-positive Uygur participants were shown to have higher prevalence of neutralizing antibodies and neutralizing antibody titers than KSHV-positive han participants.
