Plant-substrate biochar properties critical for mediating reductive debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane

Dibromoethane is a widespread,persistent organic *** are known mediators of reductive dehalogenation by layered Fe^(Ⅱ)-Fe^(Ⅲ)hydroxides(green rust),which can reduce 1,2-dibromoethane to innocuous bromide and ***,the critical characteristics that determine mediator functionality are lesser *** biochar substrates were pyrolyzed at 600℃and 800℃,characterized by elemental analysis,X-ray photo spectrometry C and N surface speciation,X-ray powder diffraction,specific surface area analysis,and tested for mediation of reductive debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane by a green rust reductant under anoxic conditions.A statistical analysis was performed to determine the biochar properties,critical for debromination kinetics and total debromination *** was shown that selected plant based biochars can mediate debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane,that the highest first order rate constant was 0.082/hr,and the highest debromination extent was 27%in reactivity experiments with 0.1μmol(20μmol/L)1,2-dibromoethane,≈22 mmol/L Fe^(Ⅱ)GR,and 0.12 g/L soybean meal biochar(7 days).Contents of Ni,Zn,N,and P,and the relative contribution of quinone surface functional groups were significantly(ptively correlated with 1,2-dibromoethane debromination,while adsorption,specific surface area,and the relative contribution of pyridinic N oxide surface groups were significantly negatively correlated with debromination.

there are limited biosecurity measures directed at preventing airborne transmission of viruses in *** effectiveness of dust mitigation strategies such as oil sprinkling,to decrease risk of airborne virus transmission are *** and qPCR for common fecal viruses were used to hunt for a ubiquitous virus to serve as a proxy when evaluating the efficiency of mitigation strategies against airborne viral infectious *** particles were collected from swine buildings using high-volume air *** DNA and RNA were used to perform specific Rt-qPCR and qPCR and analyzed by highthroughput *** astroviruses group 2 were common(from 102 to 105 genomic copies per cubic meter of air or gc/m^(3),93%positivity)while no norovirus genogroup II was recovered from air *** torque teno sus virus were detected by qPCR in low concentrations(from 101 to 102 gc/m^(3),47%positivity).Among the identified viral families by metagenomics analysis,Herelleviridae,Microviridae,Myoviridae,Podoviridae,and Siphoviridae were *** phage vB_AviM_AVP of Aerococcus was present in all air samples and a newly designed qPCR revealed between 101 and 105 gc/m^(3) among the samples taken for the present study(97%positivity)and banked samples from5-and 15-year old studies(89%positivity).According to the present study,both the porcine astrovirus group 2 and the phage vB_AviM_AVP of Aerococcus could be proxy for airborne viruses of swine buildings.

Free vibration and transient response of double curved beams connected by intermediate straight beams

this paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. the strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. the curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. the accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

evaluation of Crash Contributing Factors

Understanding crash contributing factors is essential in safety management and improvement. these factors drive investment decisions, policies, regulations, and other safety-related initiatives. this paper analyzes factors that contribute to crash occurrence based on two national datasets in the United States (CISS and NASS-CDS) for the years 2017-2022 and 2010-2015, respectively. three taxonomies were applied to enhance understanding of the various crash contributing factors. these taxonomies were developed based on previous research and practice and involved different groupings of human factors, vehicle factors, and roadway and environmental factors. Statistics for grouping the different types of factors and statistics for specific factors are provided. the results indicate that human factors are present in over 95% of crashes, roadway and environmental factors are present in over 45% of crashes, and vehicle factors are present in less than 2% of crashes. Regarding factors related to human error and vehicle maintenance, speeding is involved in over 25% of crashes, distraction is involved in over 20% of crashes, alcohol and drugs are involved in over 9% of crashes, and vehicle maintenance is involved in approximately 0.45% of crashes. Approximately 4.4% of crashes involve a driver who “looked but did not see.” Weather is involved in over 13% of crashes. Conclusions: the findings indicate that, consistent with previous research, human factors or human error are present in around 95% of crashes. Infrastructure and environmental factors contribute to about 45% of crashes. Vehicle factors contribute to only 1.67% - 1.71% of crashes. the results from this study could potentially be used to inform future safety management and improvement activities, including policy-making, regulation development, safe systems and systemic safety approaches to safety management, and other engineering, education, emergency response, enforcement, evaluation, and encouragement activities. t

the interest in using the Datura stramonium plant is due to its natural products,which are used in many pharmaceutical *** objective of the current study was to assess the therapeutic and cytotoxic effects of the *** plant on two types of human cancer cell models(MCF7 and Ht29)in vitro.A soxhlet apparatus was used to obtain methanolic extract from dried plant *** recovered crude,after the solvent had evaporated,was then dispersed at varied concentrations of extract 100,50,20,and 0.0µg/mL and tested to see how the cells ***,the cancer-testis antigen(CtA)gene transcription in the two cell types exposed to the plant extract was examined using a semi-quantitative real-time polymerase chain *** chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC-MS)results produced the significant main metabolites Nonanoic acid,tropine N-Oxide,3,6-Ditigloyloxy-7-hydroxytropane,Hexadecanoic acid,2-Pentadecanone,6,10,14-trimethyl-,Carvenone,methyl ester,Phytol,Aposcopolamine,Hyoscyamine,4,8,12,16-tetramethylheptadecan-4-olide,Scopolamine,Alpha.-tocospiro A,1,2-Cycloheptanedione,3,3,7,7-tetramethyl-,dihydrazone,Campesterol,Stigmasterol,Gamma-Sitosterol and dl-.alpha.-*** results showed that the two types of cell lines impacted by *** extract,through untreated type 1 cells(MCF7)gave a highly significant transcription according to all applicable *** implemented analyses cleared the strong genetic impacts of Datura extract on cancer cells’***2LY and C2orf63 transcript accumulation were also significantly elevated when exposed to plant extract at a level of 50µg/mL in cell line type 2(Ht29),but tGIF2LY and P53 had the lowest relative expression at a level of 100µg/mL when treated the same cell line type.

Formation of efficient dye-sensitized solar cells by introducing an interfacial layer of hierarchically ordered macro-mesoporous tiO_2 film

Hierarchically ordered macro-mesoporous tiO2 films (ti-Ma-Me) were fabricated on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FtO) substrates through the confinement self-assembly method. the prepared ti-Ma-Me possesses periodically ordered structure and a large specific surface area, which was applied as an interfacial layer between the nanocrystalline tiO2 film (P25-tiO2) and FtO electrode in the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). the introduction of a ti-Ma-Me interfacial layer increased the shortcircuit current density (Jsc) from 7.49 to 10.65 mA/cm2 and the open-circuit voltage (Voc) from 0.65 to 0.70 V as the result of its improved light harvesting efficiency by allowing for the high roughness factor and enhanced multiple internal reflection or scattering as well as reducing the back-transport reaction by blocking direct contact between the electrolyte and FtO electrode. therefore, the photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η) was improved by 83% from 3.04% to 5.55%, as compared to a device using a bare P25 tiO2 photoanode.

enhanced silicate weathering(eSW)is a geoengineering method aimed at accelerating carbon dioxide(CO_(2))removal(CDR)from atmosphere by increasing the weathering flux of silicate rocks and *** has emerged as a promising strategy for *** studies underscore eSW’s substantial potential for CDR and its diverse benefits for crops when applied to ***,the well-known significant discrepancies in silicate weathering rates between laboratory and field conditions introduce uncertainty in CDR through *** compiling data from recent literature,we calculated and compared CDR efficiency(t CO_(2)t^(-1)_(silicate)ha^(-1)y^(-1))observed in mesocosm experiments and field *** findings indicate that CDR efficiencies in field trials are comparable to or exceeding that observed in mesocosm experiments by 1-3 orders of magnitude,particularly evident with wollastonite *** hierarchy of CDR efficiency among silicates suitable for eSW is ranked as follows:olivine≥wollastonite>basalt>albite≥*** suggest the potential role of biota,especially fungi,in contributing to higher CDR efficiencies observed in field trials compared to mesocosm *** further emphasize introducing fungi known for their effectiveness in silicate weathering could potentially enhance CDR efficiency through eSW in *** before implementing fungal-facilitated eSW,three key questions need addressing:(i)How does the community of introduced fungi evolve over time?(ii)What is the long-term trajectory of CDR efficiency following fungal introduction?and(iii)Could fungal introduction lead to organic matter oxidation,resulting in elevated CO_(2)emissions?these investigations are crucial for optimizing the efficiency and sustainability of fungal-facilitated eSW strategy.
