Systematic review of anorectal leiomyosarcoma: Current challenges and recent advances

BACKGROUND The anorectal leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is an aggressive malignant neoplasm. Owing to the rarity of LMSs, an optimal treatment modality has yet to be determined. AIM To collect all published data on anorectal LMS characteristics, explore current treatment options, and review recent cases of postradiation LMS. METhODS A literature search of the PubMed electronic database was conducted using the MeSh terms "rectal neoplasms","anus neoplasms" and "gastrointestinal neoplasms" combined with "leiomyosarcoma". The search was limited to English language and human studies. All available case reports and case series of anal or rectal LMSs that were published from the beginning of January 1996 to May 2017 were included if the diagnosis of LMS had been confirmed by histopathologic examination. Data were analyzed using simple statistics (mean, median, and standard deviation). Independent sample t-test was used to compare means for continuous variables. RESULTS A total of 27 articles reporting on 51 cases of anorectal LMS were identified. Among these cases, 11.7% had undergone previous pelvic radiotherapy (developing LMS at 13-35 years afterwards). Anorectal LMS affected the rectum in 92.2% of the cases, and no sex-based predominance was observed. Surgical resection with negative margins remains the mainstay of treatment, which can be accomplished with wide local excision or radical resection. The local recurrence rate was higher among cases who received wide local excision (30%), as compared to radical resection (20%);however, the overall rate of metastasis was 51.61% regardless of the treatment approach. The use of neoadjuvant radiation lowers the risk of local recurrence compared to adjuvant radiotherapy, and facilitates R0 resection of the tumor. Cases treated with adjuvant chemotherapy showed better rates of distant recurrence and overall survival. Rehabilitation of vulnerable groups in emergencies and disasters： A systematic review

BACKGROUND: Natural and man-made disasters, especially those occurring in large scales not only result in human mortality, but also cause physical, psychological, and social disabilities. Providing effective rehabilitation services in time can decrease the frequency of such disabilities. The aim of the current study was to perform a systematic review related to rehabilitation of vulnerable groups in emergencies and ***: The systematic review was conducted according to the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses(PRISMA) guidelines. The key words "recovery", "rehabilitation", "reconstruction", "transformation", "transition", "emergency", "disaster", "crisis", "hazard", "catastrophe", "tragedy", "mass casualty incident", "women", "female", "children", "pediatric", "disable", "handicap", "elder", "old" and "vulnerable" were used in combination with Boolean operators OR and AND. ISI Web of Science, PubM ed, Scopus, Science Direct, Ovid, ProQ uest, Wiley, Google Scholar were ***: In this study a total of 11 928 articles were considered and 25 articles were selected for f inal review of rehabilitation of vulnerable groups based on the objective of this study. Twenty-f ive studies including six qualitative, sixteen cross-sectional and three randomized controlled trials were reviewed for rehabilitation of vulnerable groups in emergencies and disasters. Out of the selected papers, 23 were studied based on rehabilitation after natural disasters and the remaining were man-made disasters. Most types of rehabilitation were physical, social, psychological and ***: The review of the papers showed different programs of physical, physiological, economic and social rehabilitations for vulnerable groups after emergencies and disasters. It may help health field managers better implement standard rehabilitation activities for vulnerable groups.

Chemometric Amylose Modeling and Sample Selection for Global Calibration Using Artificial Neural Networks

Chemometric amylose modeling for global calibration,using whole grain near infrared transmittance spectra and sample selection,was used in an artificial neural network(ANN) ,to assess the global and local models generated,based on samples of newly bred Indica,Japonica and rice. Global sample sets had a wide range of sample variation for amylose content(0 to 25.9%) . The local sample set,Japonica sample,had relatively low amylose content and a narrow sample variation(amylose;12.3% to 21.0%) . For sample selection the CENTER algorithm was applied to generate calibration,validation and stop sample sets. Spectral preprocessing was found to reduce the optimum number of partial least squares(PLS) components for amylose content and thus enhance the robustness of the local calibration. The best model was found to be an ANN global calibration with spectral preprocessing;the next was a PLS global calibration using standard spectra. These results pose the question whether an ANN algorithm with spectral preprocessing could be developed for global and local calibration models or whether PLS without spectral preprocessing should be developed for global calibration models. We suggest that global calibration models incorporating an ANN may be used as a universal calibration model.

Painlevé Integrability of Nonlinear Schrdinger Equations with both Space-and Time-Dependent Coefficients

We investigate the Painleve integrabiiity of nonautonomous nonlinear Schr6dinger （NLS） equations with both space-and time-dependent dispersion, nonlinearity, and external potentials. The Painleve analysis is carried out without using the Kruskal＇s simplification, which results in more generalized form of inhomogeneous equations. The obtained equations are shown to be reducible to the standard NLS equation by using a point transformation. We also construct the corresponding Lax pair and carry out its Kundu-type reduction to the standard Lax pair. Special cases of equations from choosing limited form of coefficients coincide with the equations from the previous Painleve analyses and/or become unknown new equations.

Effects of generally anisotropic crustal rocks on fault-induced displacement and strain fields

We present a new solution for the elastic displacement and strain fields on or near Earth’s surface due to rectangular faults in an anisotropic half-space,expressed as a summation of(A)the solution in an infinite space which is singular,and(B)the complementary part which is regular and *** two solutions are expressed in terms of the mathematically elegant and computationally powerful Stroh formalism and can be applied to the generally anisotropic rock half-space or a transversely isotropic rock mass with any oriented plane of *** any flat fault of polygonal shape,one needs only to carry out a simple line integral from 0 to 7 r in order to express the fault-induced *** examples are presented to demonstrate the significant effect of the rock anisotropy and layer orientation on the fault-induced displacement and strain fields in anisotropic *** applications are wide ranging,from faults in sedimentary strata to strongly deformed metamorphic rocks with steeply dipping foliation.

The safety and toxicity of chemicals given first to animals and finally to humans are generally estimated with a method of safe coefficient, which is scientifically a way lack of grounds. To make a change of the old method, we designed a Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetics Medel for the estimate of safety and toxicity of chemicais. As an example,p-nitrophenol sodium (PNP-Na) is used in the research work. Studies of the PNP-Na pharmacokinetics in bodies of rat as well as humans are made, and possibilities of making use of the Model in the estimate of safety and toxicity of chemicals are discussed.

Linear Algebra Provides a Basis for Elasticity without Stress or Strain

Linear algebra provides insights into the description of elasticity without stress or strain. Classical descriptions of elasticity usually begin with defining stress and strain and the constitutive equations of the material that relate these to each other. Elasticity without stress or strain begins with the positions of the points and the energy of deformation. The energy of deformation as a function of the positions of the points within the material provides the material properties for the model. A discrete or continuous model of the deformation can be constructed by minimizing the total energy of deformation. As presented, this approach is limited to hyper-elastic materials, but is appropriate for infinitesimal and finite deformations, isotropic and anisotropic materials, as well as quasi-static and dynamic responses.

PMMA-based Gel Polymer Electrolytes with Crosslinking Network

The lithium-ion battery has a good rate capability and low-temperature performance, but its safety is relatively low due to the possibility of leakage of liquid electrolyte. The use of a solid or gel type electrolyte can lower the probability of leakage liquid electrolyte, and the electrochemical performance of gel electrolyte doesn't decrease so markedly as the solid electrolyte. Now, new types of advanced lithium-ion battery with gel polymer electrolytes are under developing which can be used in the future.
