the variation of the temperature of the solar cell subjected to the incident global solar radiation along the local daytime in relation to its efficiency is studied. the heat balance equation is solved. the solution revealed that the cell temperature is a function of the maximum value of the daily incident global solar radiation qmax, the convection heat transfer coefficient (h), the optical, physical and the geometrical parameters of the cell. the temperature dependence of the short circuit current Isc, the dark saturation current Io, the open circuit voltage Voc, and the energy band gap Eg characterizing a Silicon solar cell is considered in evaluating the cell efficiency. Computations of the efficiency concerning operating conditions and astronomical locations (Egypt) as illustrative examples are given.

We investigate a new numerical procedure based on a bubble-enriched finite element formulation in combination with the implicit backward Euler scheme for nonlinear analysis of strip footings and stability of *** soil body is modeled as a perfect plastic Mohr-Coulomb *** displacement field is approximated by a 4-node quadrilateral element discretization enhanced with bubble *** loads and failure mechanisms in cohesive frictional soil are determined by solving a few Newton-Raphson *** results of the present approach are verified by both analytical solutions and other numerical solutions available in the literature.

(FePt/Ag)n nano-multilayers were deposited on MgO (100) single crystal with laser ablation and then subjected to annealing. FePt L1o grains with (001) texture and thus a large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant Ku of the order of 106 J/m3 were formed. A thick Ag layer is found to be favorable for decreasing the dispersion of the easy axis for magnetization. the measurement of time decay of magnetization gave rise to a small activation volume of the order of 10-25m3, showing the promising of being the recording medium for future high density perpendicular recording.

the analysis of dynamic responses of cable-stayed bridges subjected to wind and earthquake loads generally considers only the motions of the bridge deck and *** influence of the stay cable vibration on the responses of the bridge is either ignored or considered by approximate *** transverse vibration of the stay cables,which can be significant in some cases,are usually neglected in previous *** the present study,a new three-node cable element has been developed to model the transverse motions of the *** interactions between the cable behavior and the other parts of the bridge superstructure are considered by the concept of dynamic *** nonlinear effect of the cable caused by its self-weight is included in the *** examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed model. the impact of cable vibration behavior on the dynamic characteristics of cable-stayed bridges is discussed.

the flotation tests and XPS analyses on galena,sphalerite and pyrite have been carried out in a collecting-depressing-reactivating system(hereafter referred as the CDR system).In this system,sulfide minerals were first collected and activated by the collector,and then depressed strongly by Ca(Oh)2 in the strong alkaline solution,and finally reactivated by *** flotation tests of pure minerals show that in this system the flotation behaviors of sphalerite and pyrite present irreversible characteristics along with the change of pulp ***,through the CDR system,considerable differences in the flotabilities between galena and sphalerite/pyrite are also *** XPS analysis results for galena,sphalerite and pyrite in a CDR system show that in the strong alkaline solution,some of the collectors,that have been already adsorbed on the mineral surface in the collecting process,are desorbed by Ca(Oh)*** XPS analysis results also show that in h2SO4 reactivating process,the surface hydroxides of galena are desorbed again by h2SO4 and replaced by diethyl dithiocarbamate,but those of sphalerite and pyrite are not *** flotation system may be applied to the bulk-differential flotation process of sulfur-bearing low-grade lead-zinc ores.

the Effect of Reflector with Sound-Absorbing Material on Supersonic Jet Noise

this paper describes an experimental work to investigate the effect of a reflector on supersonic jet noise radiated from a convergent-divergent nozzle with a design Mach number *** the present study,a metal reflector and reflectors made of three different sound-absorbing materials(grass wool and polyurethane foam)were employed,and the reflector size was *** measurement is carried out to obtain the acoustic characteristics such as frequency,amplitude of screech tone and overall sound pressure level(OASPL).A high-quality schlieren optical system is used to visualize the detailed structure of supersonic *** results obtained show that the acoustic characteristics of supersonic jet noise are strongly dependent upon the jet pressure ratio and the reflector *** is also found that the reflector with sound-absorbing material reduces the screech tone amplitude by about 5-13dB and the overall sound pressure levels by about 2-5dB,compared with those of the metal reflector.

A size-dependent computational approach for bending,free vibration and buckling analyses of isotropic and sandwich functionally graded(FG)microplates is in this study *** consider both shear deformation and small scale effects through the generalized higher order shear deformation theory and modified couple stress theory(MCSt).the present model only retains a single material length scale parameter for capturing properly size effects.A rule of mixture is used to model material properties varying through the thickness of *** principle of virtual work is used to derive the discrete system equations which are approximated by moving Kriging interpolation(MKI)meshfree *** examples consider the inclusions of geometrical parameters,volume fraction,boundary conditions and material length scale *** and effectiveness of the present method are confirmed through numerical results.

A reliable analytical expression for the potential of plasma waves with phase velocities near the speed of light is *** presented spheroid cavity model is more consistent than the previous spherical and ellipsoidal models and it explains the mono-energetic electron trajectory more accurately,especially at the relativistic *** maximum energy of electrons is calculated and it is shown that the maximum energy of the spheroid model is less than that of the spherical *** electron energy spectrum is also calculated and it is found that the energy distribution ratio of electrons △E/E for the spheroid model under the conditions reported here is half that of the spherical model and it is in good agreement with the experimental value in the same *** a result,the quasi-mono-energetic electron output beam interacting with the laser plasma can be more appropriately described with this model.
