Masseter Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials: A new tool to assess the vestibulomasseteric reflex pathway

Purpose: This review article provides the readers with an in-depth insight in understanding and interpreting various research literatures on the masseter vestibular evoked myogenic potentials(mVEMP). The article also reviews the contemporary researches involving the clinical applications of the mVEMP. Conclusions: Masseter VEMP is an evolving yet clinically promising neuro-otology test tool that has recently gained more research interest and is considered an additional tool to diagnose various vestibular disorders. Masseter VEMP assesses the functional integrity of the acoustic-masseteric and vestibulo-masseteric reflex pathways. The mVEMP could be used as a complementary test to evaluate the same peripheral generator as the cervical VEMP but a different central pathway i.e., vestibulo-trigeminal pathway. Various research studies that have experimented on parameters such as the effect of different electrode montages(zygomatic vs mandibular configurations), stimulation rates, filter settings and stimuli used to evoke mVEMP have been discussed in this article that could assist in the optimization of a comprehensive clinical protocol. The latency and the amplitude of mVEMP waveforms serve as significant parameters in differentiating normals from those of the clinical populations. Along with the cVEMPs and oVEMPs, mVEMP might help diagnose brainstem lesions in REM sleep behaviour disorders, Multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. however, further studies are required to probe in this area of research.

An improved reverse time migration for subsurface imaging over complex geological structures:A numerical study

In seismic exploration,it is a critical task to image and interpret different seismic signatures over complex geology due to strong lateral velocity contrast,steep reflectors,overburden strata and dipping *** understand the behavior of these seismic signatures,nowadays Reverse Time Migration(RTM)technique is used extensively by the oil&gas *** the extrapolation phase of RTM,the source wavefield needs to be saved,which needs high storage memory and large computing *** two are the main obstacles of RTM for production *** order to overcome these disadvantages,in this study,a second-generation improved RTM technique is *** this improved form,a shift operator is introduced at the time of imaging condition of RTM algorithm which is performed automatically both in space and time *** effort is made to produce a better-quality image by minimizing the computational time as well as numerical *** proposed method is applied over various benchmark models and validated by implementing over one field data set from the Jaisalmer Basin,*** the analysis,it is observed that the method consumes a minimum of 45%less storage space and reduce the execution time by 20%,as compared to conventional *** proposed RTM is found to work efficiently in comparison to the conventional RTM both in terms of imaging quality and minimization of numerical artefacts for all the benchmark models as well as field data.

simultaneous inversion of permeability,skin and boundary from pressure transient test data in three-dimensional single well reservoir model

This study presents a novel approach for simultaneous inversion of the key reservoir parameters like horizontal permeability,vertical permeability,skin,and boundary distances for spatial distribution across the grid cells in a 3D single well reservoir model(sWRM).These parameters are first estimated from the standard pressure transient analysis of well test pressure and rate data,which also act as a priori for the inverse problem.A field-worthy layer cake geological model is prepared based on the prior information obtained from pressure transient analysis,followed by a sequential flow simulation of field well test *** simulation results provide the model pressure versus rate data as the synthetic data for this study.A cost function is defined incorporating the well test pressure data and model pressure data,which would determine the *** inversion process is to optimize the spatial distribution of reservoir parameters to minimize the difference between the measured pressure transient data and the modelled one,which is obtained from the multiphase fluid flow simulator that solves the implicit black-oil fluid-flow diffusivity equations at every step.A Gauss-Newton(GN)inversion scheme is used for the *** reliability of inversion results depends on the accuracy of priori reservoir parameters fed to the solver,which can be refined if required through uncertainty parameter optimization(UPO).This approach helps to obtain a faster and reliable update of reservoir parameters in a layer cake homogeneous geomodel,hereby introducing the required *** increases the confidence and reliability of a geomodel,which is further used for various production prediction strategies.

Massless Dirac perturbations of black holes in f(Q) gravity: quasinormal modes and a weak deflection angle

This article considers a static and spherical black hole（Bh） in f（Q） gravity. f（Q） gravity is the extension of symmetric teleparallel general relativity, where both curvature and torsion are vanishing and gravity is described by nonmetricity. In this study, we investigate the possible implications of quasinormal mode（QNM） modified hawking spectra and deflection angles generated by the model. The Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin method is used to solve the equations of motion for massless Dirac perturbation fields and explore the impact of the nonmetricity parameter（Q0）. Based on the QNM computation, we can ensure that the Bh is stable against massless Dirac perturbations and as Q0increases the oscillatory frequency of the mode decreases. We then discuss the weak deflection angle in the weak field limit approximation. We compute the deflection angle up to the fourth order of approximation and show how the nonmetricity parameter affects it. We find that the Q0parameter reduces the deflection angle.

Optimizing Average Electric Power During the Charging of Lithium-Ion Batteries Through the Taguchi Method

In recent times, lithium-ion batteries have been widely used owing to their high energy density, extended cycle lifespan, and minimal self-discharge rate. The design of high-speed rechargeable lithium-ion batteries faces a significant challenge owing to the need to increase average electric power during charging. This challenge results from the direct influence of the power level on the rate of chemical reactions occurring in the battery electrodes. In this study, the Taguchi optimization method was used to enhance the average electric power during the charging process of lithium-ion batteries. The Taguchi technique is a statistical strategy that facilitates the systematic and efficient evaluation of numerous experimental variables. The proposed method involved varying seven input factors, including positive electrode thickness, positive electrode material, positive electrode active material volume fraction, negative electrode active material volume fraction, separator thickness, positive current collector thickness, and negative current collector thickness. Three levels were assigned to each control factor to identify the optimal conditions and maximize the average electric power during charging. Moreover, a variance assessment analysis was conducted to validate the results obtained from the Taguchi analysis. The results revealed that the Taguchi method was an eff ective approach for optimizing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries. This indicates that the positive electrode material, followed by the separator thickness and the negative electrode active material volume fraction, was key factors significantly infl uencing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries response. The identification of optimal conditions resulted in the improved performance of lithium-ion batteries, extending their potential in various applications.
