Combined cold,heat and power(CChP)systems and fuel cells for CChP applications:a topological review

As the basis for the study,this manuscript was written at a time when the energy crisis is affecting most parts of the world and most es-pecially the prevailing and rampant electricity crisis in most developing *** a result,50 combined cooling,heating and power(CChP)systems studies were reviewed,which included the internal combustion engine(ICE),Stirling engine,biomass,micro turbine,solar and biogas,photovoltaic(PV)and gas turbine,wind turbine,PV and micro-turbine,solid-oxide and phosphoric-acid fuel cells(FCs),ICE and thermoelectric generator,low-temperature(LT)polymer electrolyte membrane(PEM),inlet air throttling gas turbine,ground source heat pump(GShP)micro gas turbine and PV,ICE and GShP,ICE with dehumidification and refrigeration,5-kW PEM FC,thermoelectric cooler and LT-PEM FC,Stirling engine and molten carbonate FC,thermo-acoustic organic Rankine cycle,solar-thermal,geothermal,integrated energy systems,power-and heat-storage systems,energy-conversion systems,thermodynamic and thermo-economic optimization strategies,working fluids based on hydrogen,helium as well as ammonia,h_(2)O,CO_(2) *** these reviewed CChP systems,FC-based CChP systems were of the greatest interest,particularly the PEM ***,FCs were further investigated,whereby the seven popular types of FCs identified and classified were summarily compared with each other,from which the PEM FC was preferred due to its practical ***,PEM FCs,like all FCs,are susceptible to the fuel-starvation phenomenon;therefore,six FC-assisted schemes were examined,from which the FC assisted with the supercapacitor and battery technique was the most widely *** sum,the significance of the study entails assorted CChP systems,FCs,their highlights,their applications and their pros and cons in a single reference document that anyone can easily use to holistically understand the characteristics of the CChP *** study concludes with our perspective,by which we formulate and p

Dietary experience alters predatory behavior of two ladybird species on tomato potato psyllid

Review of salt consumption and stomach cancer risk:Epidemiological and biological evidence

Stomach cancer is still the fourth most common cancer;thus,it remains an important public health burden worldwide,especially in developing *** remarkable geographic variations in the rates of stomach cancer indicate that dietary factors,including a range of food groups to which salt and/or nitrates have been added,may affect stomach cancer *** this paper,we review the results from ecologic,case-control and cohort studies on the relationship between salt or salted foods and stomach cancer *** majority of ecological studies indicated that the average salt intake in each population was closely correlated with gastric cancer *** case-control studies showed similar results,indicating a moderate to high increase in risk for the highest level of salt or salted food *** overall results from cohort studies are not totally consistent,but are suggestive of a moderate direct *** salt intake has been correlated with helicobacter pylori(h pylori) infection,it is possible that these two factors may synergize to promote the development of stomach ***,salt may also cause stomach cancer through directly damaging gastric mucus,improving temporary epithelial proliferation and the incidence of endogenous mutations,and inducing hypergastrinemia that leads to eventual parietal cell loss and progression to gastric *** on the considerable evidence from ecological,case-control and cohort studies worldwide and the mechanistic plausibility,limitation on salt and salted food consumption is a practical strategy for preventing gastric cancer.

Simulation of spray coating in a spouted bed using recurrence CFD

Although numerical models such as the computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method (CFD–DEM) have enabled the accurate simulation of laboratory-scale apparatuses, the application of these methods to large-scale apparatuses with many particles and time scales ranging from minutes to hours remains a challenge. The recently developed recurrence CFD (rCFD) method seeks to overcome these issues in pseudo-periodic processes by extrapolating globally recurring patterns in a physically meaningful way and describing the transport and interaction of passive scalars using Lagrangian tracers. Spouted beds represent an interesting target because of the associated variety of flow regimes. They can be effectively described by CFD–DEM on the time scale of tens of seconds, whereas industrially relevant processes typically take hours. In this contribution, we established the validity of applying the Lagrangian rCFD method to spouted beds by demonstrating the accurate reproduction of the particle residence time distribution in a fictitious spray zone. The deposition of spray droplets onto tracer particles was simulated for 1 h, and the particle surface coverage distribution was estimated using a statistical approach for both an unstabilized prismatic spouted bed and one stabilized by draft plates.

Adsorption of Cationic Laser Dye onto Polymer/Surfactant Complex Film

Fabrication of complex molecular films of organic materials is one of the most important issues in modern nanoscience and nanotechnology. Soft materials with flexible properties have been given much attention and can be obtained through bottom up processing from functional molecules, where self-assembly based on supramolecular chemistry and designed assembly have become crucial processes and technologies. In this work, we report the successful incorporation of cationic laser dye rhodamine 6G abbreviated as R6G into the pre-assembled polyelectrolyte/surfactant complex film onto quartz substrate by electrostatic adsorption technique. Poly（allylamine hydrochloride）（PAh） was used as polycation and sodium dodecyl sulphate （SDS） was used as anionic surfactant. UV-Vis absorption spectroscopic characterization reveals the formation of only h-type aggregates of R6G in their aqueous solution and both h- and J-type aggregates in PAh/SDS/R6G complex layer-bylayber films as well as the adsorption kinetics of R6G onto the complex films. The ratio of the absorbance intensity of two aggregated bands in PAh/SDS/R6G complex fihns is merely independent of the concentration range of the SDS solution used to fabricate PAh/SDS complex self-assembled films. Atomic force microscopy reveals the formation of R6G aggregates in PAh/SDS/R6G complex films.

Some refractory and volatile element chemistry of CaS in enstatite chondrites

INAA data for REE, Sc, Se, Br and Zn in CaS extracted from 5 enstatite chondrites (Qingzhen Eh3, St. Marks Eh5, Atlanta EL6, hvittis EL6 and Pillistfer EL6) are reported. The results indicate that the REE abundances in CaS from unequilibrated enstatite chondrite, Qingzhen, are much higher than that from equilibrated ones. Similarly, the abundances of Sc, Se, Br and Zn in CaS from Qingzhen are higher than that in CaS grains from equilibrated chondrites, revealing that CaS is a previous condensate and is not simple residues of an evaporative process. Secondly, metamorphism has caused the redistribution of the trace elements among the minerals in enstatite chondrites, and this metamorphic fractionation reflects the differences from element volatilities and chemical properties. The REE patterns of CaS of enstatite chondrites and aubrites could not explain that aubrites were derived from known enstatite chondrites by igneous processing. And depleted europium in metamorphism and igneous process may be carried by Cr-bearing sulfides (minerals A and B).

Porous solid inspired hyper-crosslinked polymer liquids with highly efficient regeneration for gas purification

Separation media that combine the desired material properties within a single material for a given process remain an ongoing challenge for the gas separations in *** integration of porous solid adsorbents is difficult due to their limited volumetric capacity,whereas issues of volatility and high regeneration temperatures exist for liquid amines and physical ***,we report a family of polymer liquids inspired by hyper-crosslinked polymers(hCPs),a class of highly swellable network *** with a chemically similar porous solid,the hCP-liquids demonstrate good volumetric capacity and improved selectivity of carbon dioxide over *** appears to be enhanced by intramolecular swelling of the hCP-liquids at elevated pressures,while guests are strongly rejected from the hCP-liquids at slightly elevated temperatures,leading to highly efficient *** of adsorption and specific heat capacity of the hCP-liquids are also low,further suggesting favourable process *** being easily prepared at scale,the presented hCP-liquids represent a promising step towards a material with the requisite properties to replace conventional scrubbing solvents to drastically reduce the footprint and energy needs of gas separations.

To detect anaerobic bacteria Clostridium sp . and Bacteroides fragilis in intrahepatic stones by molecular genetic method Methods DNA was extracted from 59 stone samples and subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification targeting the 16S rRNA gene of Clostridium sp . and the glutamine synthetase gene of Bacteroides fragilis Single-strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) analysis was performed to identify the Clostridium sp Results 16S rRNA gene sequences for Clostridium sp. were identified in 49 stones (83%, 49/59) The two most common groups were detected in 19 (41%) and 17 (37%) of the 46 samples using SSPC analysis, and 25/59 (42%) stones were tested positive for Bacteroides fragilis Conclusions Anaerobes such as Clostridium sp and Bacteroides fragilis present in intrahepatic stones and may play a role in stone formation PCR is a useful technique to detect fastidious pathogens, which are difficult to culture SSCP of PCR products is a rapid method in differentiating bacterial species

Seasonal changes on two different spatial scales： response of aquatic invertebrates to water body and microhabitat

Knowledge about the spatial and temporal scales of both habitat use and the functional significance of different adaptations is essential for an understanding of the population dynamics of invertebrate assemblages. This fundamental knowledge is not only interesting from an academic point of view, but is sorely lacking and needed in the field of restoration ecology. Many species are threatened due to degradation. Knowing what environmental conditions are needed dtLring the life cycle of these species is important in the design of restoration measures which aim to lift existing bottlenecks for threatened species. To assess the relative importance of water type and microhabitat in structuring the invertebrate assemblage during different seasons, invertebrates were sampled in three water bodies differing in trophic level and acidity. Different parts within a water body （microhabitats） were sampled separately and each water body was sampled in all four seasons. Results show that water body is an important factor structuring the invertebrate assemblage early in the season, whereas microhabitat became more important later in the season. Structural complexity of microhabitats was related to the type of locomotion employed by invertebrates. Seasonal differences could be related to population dynamics （reproduction, mortality）. Moreover, fluctuations in resource availability were expected to differ between the water bodies, with highest fluctuations in the eutrophic water body and with fluctuations becoming less predictable later in the season. This was confirmed by the data： species synchronization to pulses in food availability was strongest in the eutrophic water body. Moreover, synchronization was strongest in summer, while in autumn waters were invaded by dispersive species. Based on these results a synthesis is presented on the functioning of the different waters during the different seasons.

BACKGROUND Rapid molecular testing has revolutionized the management of suspected viral meningitis and encephalitis by providing an etiological diagnosis inh potential to improve outcomes and shorten inpatient ***,use of molecular assays can vary *** To evaluate current practice for molecular testing of pediatric cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)samples across the United Kingdom using a structured *** A structured telephone questionnaire survey was conducted between July and August *** was collected on the availability of viral CSF nucleic acid amplification testing(NAAT),criteria used for testing and turnaround times including the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 *** Of 196/212(92%)microbiology laboratories responded;63/196(32%)were excluded from final analysis as they had no on-site microbiology laboratory and outsourced their *** 133 Laboratories included in the study,47/133(35%)had onsite facilities for viral CSF *** currently undertaking onsite NAAT(n=47)had much faster turnaround times with 39 centers(83%)providing results in≤24 h as compared to those referring samples to neighboring laboratories(5/86;6%).CONCLUSION Onsite/near-patient rapid NAAT(including polymerase chain reaction)is recommended wherever possible to optimize patient management in the acute setting.
