Endoscopic foregut surgery and interventions:The future is *** state-of-the-art and my personal journey

In this paper, I reviewed the emerging field of endoscopic surgery and present data supporting the contention that endoscopy can now be used to treat many foregut diseases that have been traditionally treated surgically. Within each topic,the content will progress as follows: "lessons learned", "technical considerations"and "future opportunities". Lessons learned will provide a brief background and update on the most current literature. Technical considerations will include my personal experience, including tips and tricks that I have learned over the ***, future opportunities will address current unmet needs and potential new areas of development. The foregut is defined as "the upper part of the embryonic alimentary canal from which the pharynx, esophagus, lung, stomach, liver,pancreas, and part of the duodenum develop". Foregut surgery is well established in treating conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD), achalasia, esophageal diverticula, Barrett's esophagus(BE) and esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, gastric-outlet obstruction, and obesity. Over the past decade, remarkable progress in interventional endoscopy has culminated in the conceptualization and practice of endoscopic foregut surgery for various clinical conditions summarized in this paper. Regarding GERD, there are now several technologies available to effectively treat it and potentially eliminate symptoms, and the need for long-term treatment with proton pump *** the first time, fundoplication can be performed without the need for open or laparoscopic surgery. Long-term data going out 5-10 years are now emerging showing extended durability. In respect to achalasia, per-oral endoscopic myotomy(POEM) which was developed in japan, has become an alternative to the traditional heller's myotomy. Regarding the stage progress on the relativistic hartree-Fock(RhF)model achieved recently,we review the extensive developments of the model itself,including the descriptions of axially deformed unstable nuclei and nuclear spin-isospin excitations,which shows that a complete RhF framework is now available for exploring the tensor force effects in both ground state and excited states of unstable ***,the recent RhF descriptions of the pseudo-spin symmetry restoration and the new magicity are also *** shows that the Fock terms,particularly theρ-tensor coupling and naturally introduced tensor force components,bring about significant improvements in maintaining the delicate in-medium balance of nuclear attractions and repulsions,and uniformly interpreting the emergence of new magicity *** revealed microscopic mechanisms not only deepen our understanding on the properties of nuclear structure,but also help to guide the further development of the effective nuclear force.

Mg-based amorphous alloys are one of the potential hydrogen storage materials but suffer from sluggish dehydrogenation/hydrogenation(de/hydrogenation)*** this work,as a new strategy,a hydrogen pump is built on the surface of amorphous alloys to solve this *** milling crystalline YFe_(2-x)Al_(x) hydrogen storage alloy with Mg_(60)La_(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous alloy,fine crystalline particles were seeded on amorphous alloy powder to form a“strawberry”*** to the TEM observation,a metallurgical bonding boundary formed between the Mg-based amorphous matrix and the Y-Fe-Al crystalline *** microstructure and de/hydrogenation kinetics investigation,the“hydrogen pump”effect of the seeded crystalline alloy was confirmed,which makes it much easier for the hydrogen to dissociate on and diffuse through the surface of the Mg-based amorphous *** such effect,the h absorption rate of Mg_(60)La_(10)Ni_(20)Cu_(10) amorphous alloy became almost eight times faster and it absorbs ~2.8 wt.% in 1 h at 130℃ under 4.5 MPa-h_(2).Further,fast hydrogenation can even achieve at 70℃ and the low-temperature dehydrogenation kinetics of the amorphous hydride can be also greatly *** present work proves that surface modification is of great importance for obtaining Mg-based amorphous alloy with ideal hydrogen storage performance.

Segregation of particulate solids: Experiments and DEM simulations

Segregation of granular materials is a complex phenomenon, difficult to measure quantitatively and to predict. Discrete element method （DEM） can be a useful tool to predict segregation effects and to support the industrial design. In this context, a very challenging idea is the characterization of the granular solids to provide the key parameters needed for a successful DEM simulation of segregation processes. Rolling friction, sliding friction and the coefficient of restitution are the critical parameters to be studied. These microscopic simulation parameters are calibrated by comparing the macroscopic behavior of granular matter in standard bulk experiments, which have the advantage of being highly repeatable and reliable. An experimental method is presented to characterize free surface segregation. The effects of different particle properties, particularly, shape and size, on segregation of cohesionless materials were investi- gated. From the experiments, particle size demonstrated a stronger effect on segregation than particle shape. Finally, the corresponding DEM simulations of the segregation experiments were presented. The parameters obtained by calibration were validated by the comparison of the modeled segregation behav- ior with the experimental results. Thus, calibrated DEM simulations are capable of predicting segregation effects.

Glass forming ability (GFA) and structural characterization of a new amorphous Al-Ni-Sr alloy melt spun were investigated on the theory of the factors for the glass formation. The GFA was varied with the ratio of Ni to Sr in detail and successful amorphous phase dispersed with 2 ～ 5 nm precipitates was prepared from Al-Ni5-Sr3. Thermal stability and crystallization behavior of the amorphous phase were determined by continuous and isothermal heating technique on DCS, resulting that the crystallization occurs by the growth of fcc Al nanocrystals on the preexistent nuclei.

Photo-induced Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(methyl methacrylate) Grafted Sodium Salt of Partially Carboxymethylated Guar Gum

Photo-induced graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate（MMA） onto sodium salt of partially carboxymethylated guar gum（Na-PCMGG, DS = 0.291） was carried out in an aqueous medium using ceric ammonium nitrate（CAN） as photoinitiator to synthesize a novel graft copolymer, Na-PCMGG-g-PMMA, which may find its potential application as a metal adsorbent. The influences of synthesis variables such as concentrations of photoinitiator（CAN）, nitric acid and monomer（MMA） as well as reaction time, temperature and amount of substrate on the grafting yields were studied and the reaction conditions for optimum photo-grafting were evaluated. At optimum concentration, the maximum values of the grafting yields achieved were G = 271.61% and GE = 63.89%. The experimental results were found to be in very good agreement with the proposed kinetic scheme. The photo-graft copolymerization of MMA onto Na-PCMGG（ DS = 0.291） was also carried out in the presence and absence of ultraviolet radiation for studying the efficiency of the photoinitiator. The influence of carboxymethyl groups introduced onto the guar gum molecules with regard to its behavior towards ultra-violet radiation induced grafting with MMA was also investigated. Photo-grafting process was confirmed and the products were characterized with the help of the spectroscopic（1h-NMR and FTIR） and SEM techniques.

Mg-Al Alloys Manufactured by Casting and hot Working Process

Mechanical properties of Mg-Al based alloys at different fabrication state,namely as-cast,hot rolled,and annealed,were investigated to develop the alloys that are suitable for the casting/hot working ***- imental results indicated that the castability such as hot cracking resistance tends to improve with increasing the aluminum ***,the elongation at elevated temperatures was observed to decrease as the AI content increases,implying difficulties in hot forming.A small amount of Zr additions could significantly enhance the room temperature mechanical properties of hot-rolled Mg-6%Al-1%Zn *** tendency of remarkable grain coarsening at high temperatures was effectively reduced by the Zr *** analyses suggested that very fine Al-3Zr precipitates formed in the Zr-added alloy are responsible for the obtained results.

CO_2 laser-micro plasma arc hybrid welding for galvanized steel sheets

A laser lap welding process for zinc-coated steel has a well-known unsolved problem-porosity formation. The boiling temperature of coated zinc is lower than the melting temperature of the base metal, which is steel. In the autogenous laser welding, the zinc vapor generates from the lapped surfaces expels the molten pool and the expulsion causes numerous weld defects, such as spatters and blow holes on the weld surface and porosity inside the welds. The laser-arc hybrid welding was suggested as an alternative method for the laser lap welding because the arc can preheat or post-beat the weldment according to the arrangement of the laser beam and the arc. CO2 laser-micro plasma hybrid welding was applied to the lap welding of zinc-coated steel with zero-gap. The relationships among the weld quality and process parameters of the laser-arc arrangement, and the laser-arc interspacing distance and arc current were investigated using a full-factorial experimental design. The effect of laser-arc arrangement is dominant because the leading plasma arc partially melts the upper steel sheets and vaporizes or oxidizes the coated zinc on the lapped surfaces. Compared with the result from the laser-TIG hybrid welding, the heat input from arc can be reduced by 40%.
