Multi-objective optimization and evaluation of supercritical CO_(2) Brayton cycle for nuclear power generation

the supercritical CO_(2) Brayton cycle is considered a promising energy conversion system for generation IV reactors for its simple layout,compact structure,and high cycle *** models of four Brayton cycle layouts are developed in this study for different reactors to reduce the cost and increase the thermohydraulic performance of nuclear power generation to promote the commercialization of nuclear *** analysis,multi-objective optimizations,and four decision-making methods are applied to obtain each Brayton scheme’s optimal thermohydraulic and economic *** show that for the same design thermal power scale of reactors,the higher the core’s exit temperature,the better the Brayton cycle’s thermo-economic *** the four-cycle layouts,the recompression cycle(RC)has the best overall performance,followed by the simple recuperation cycle(sR)and the intercooling cycle(IC),and the worst is the reheating cycle(Rh).however,Rh has the lowest total cost of investment(C_(tot))of$1619.85 million,and IC has the lowest levelized cost of energy(LCOE)of 0.012$/(kWh).the nuclear Brayton cycle system’s overall performance has been improved due to *** performance of the molten salt reactor combined with the intercooling cycle(MsR-IC)scheme has the greatest improvement,with the net output power(W_(net)),thermal efficiencyη_(t),and exergy efficiency(η_(e))improved by 8.58%,8.58%,and 11.21%,*** performance of the lead-cooled fast reactor combined with the simple recuperation cycle scheme was optimized to increase C_(tot) by 27.78%.In comparison,the internal rate of return(IRR)increased by only 7.8%,which is not friendly to investors with limited *** the nuclear Brayton cycle,the molten salt reactor combined with the recompression cycle scheme should receive priority,and the gas-cooled fast reactor combined with the reheating cycle scheme should be considered carefully.

Constructing three dimensional(3D)covalent organic frameworks(COFs)through the entanglement of two dimensional(2D)nets is a promising but underdeveloped ***,we report the design and synthesis of a fluorine functionalized 3DCOF(3D-An-COF-F)formed by entangled 2D sql *** structure of 3D-An-COF-F was determined by the combination of continuous rotation electron diffraction technique and modelling based on the chemical information from real ***,compared to the isostructural 3D-An-COF without F atom s,3DAn-COF-F showed an improved CO_(2)sorption ability and higher CO_(2)/N_(2)*** study not only demonstrated the generality of constructing 3D COFs with entangled 2D nets by introducing bulky groups vertically in planar building blocks,but also will expand the diversity of 3D COFs for various applications.

structured-light(sL)based 3D sensors have been widely used in many *** sL is the most widely deployed among all sL sensors due to its light weight,compact size,fast video rate,and low *** transmitter(known as the dot projector)consists of a randomly patterned vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser(VCsEL)array multiplicated by a diffractive optical element(DOE)with a fixed repeated *** that the separation of any two speckles is only one known and fixed number(albeit random),there are no other known scales to cal-ibrate or ***,typical sL sensors require extensive in-factory calibrations,and the depth resolution is limited to 1 mm at-60 cm *** this paper,to the best of our knowledge,we propose a novel dot projector and a new addressable sL(AsL)3D sensor by using a regularly spaced,individually addressable VCsEL array,multiplicated by a metasurface-DOE(MDOE)into a random pattern of the *** turning on or off the VCsELs in the array provides multiple known distances between neighboring speckles,which is used as a“built-in caliper”to achieve higher accuracy of *** as a precise“vernier caliper,”the addressable VCsEL array enables fine control over speckle positions and high detection *** experimentally dem-onstrated that the proposed method can result in sub-hundred-micron level *** new concept opens new possibilities for applications such as 3D computation,facial recognition,and wearable devices.

Lithium-sulfur(Li-s)batteries mainly rely on the reversible electrochemical reaction of between lithium ions(Li^(+))and sulfur species to achieve energy storage and conversion,therefore,increasing the number of free Li^(+)and improving the Li^(+)diffusion kinetics will effectively enhance the cell ***,Mo-based MXene heterostructure(Mos_(2)@Mo_(2)C)was developed by partial vulcanization of Mo_(2)C MXene,in which the introduction of similar valence s into Mo-based MXene(Mo_(2)C)can create an electron delocalization *** theoretical simulations and electrochemical characterisation,it is demonstrated that the Mos_(2)@Mo_(2)C heterojunction can effectively promote ion desolvation,increase the amount of free Li^(+),and accelerate Li^(+)transport for more efficient polysulfide *** addition,the Mos_(2)@Mo_(2)C material is also capable of accelerating the oxidation and reduction of polysulfides through its sufficient defects and vacancies to further enhance the catalytic ***,the Li-s battery with the designed Mos_(2)@Mo_(2)C electrocatalyst performed for 500 cycles at 1 C and still maintained the ideal capacity(664.7 mAh·g^(−1)),and excellent rate performance(567.6 mAh·g^(−1)at 5 C).Under the extreme conditions of high loading,the cell maintained an excellent capacity of 775.6 mAh·g^(−1)after 100 *** also retained 838.4 mAh·g^(−1)for 70 cycles at a low temperature of 0℃,and demonstrated a low decay rate(0.063%).these results indicate that the delocalized electrons effectively accelerate the catalytic conversion of lithium polysulfide,which is more practical for enhancing the behaviour of Li-s batteries.

the solid solution and aging treatment for conventional manufacturing processes might not be suitable for laser additive manufactured titanium alloys due to the different lamellar *** this study,the influence of aging temperatures(600,700 and 800°C)on microstructure and mechanical properties of titanium alloy ti-6Al-2V-1.5Mo-0.5Zr-0.3si was *** results indicate that after solid solution treatment at 970°C followed by water quenching,the alloy mainly consists of coarsening lamellar a phase in martensite α' *** at 600°C will not change the size of primary lamellar α phase but lead to huge amount of secondary a phases(α_(s))generating with very fine *** increasing the aging temperature,the number of α_(s) decreases but with coarsened *** aged at 800°C,the width of the asphase reaches 350 nm,almost 7 times wider than that aged at 600°*** changing size of α_(s) obviously influences the property of the *** fine α_(s) leads to high strength and microhardness but low plasticity,and specimen aged at 700°C with suitable assize has the best comprehensive properties.

Effects of gravel on the water absorption characteristics and hydraulic parameters of stony soil

the eastern foothills of the helan Mountains in China are a typical mountainous region of soil and gravel,where gravel could affect the water movement process in the *** study focused on the effects of different gravel contents on the water absorption characteristics and hydraulic parameters of stony *** stony soil samples were collected from the eastern foothills of the helan Mountains in April 2023 and used as the experimental materials to conduct a one-dimensional horizontal soil column absorption *** experimental groups with gravel contents of 0%,10%,20%,30%,40%,and 50%were established to determine the saturated hydraulic conductivity(K_(s)),saturated water content(θ_(s)),initial water content(θ_(i)),and retention water content(θ_(r)),and explore the changes in the wetting front depth and cumulative absorption volume during the absorption *** philip model was used to fit the soil absorption process and determine the soil water absorption *** the length of the characteristic wetting front depth,shape coefficient,empirical parameter,inverse intake suction and soil water suction were derived from the van genuchten ***,the hydraulic parameters mentioned above were used to fit the soil water characteristic curves,unsaturated hydraulic conductivity(K_(θ))and specific water capacity(C(h)).the results showed that the wetting front depth and cumulative absorption volume of each treatment gradually decreased with increasing gravel *** with control check treatment with gravel content of 0%,soil water absorption rates in the treatments with gravel contents of 10%,20%,30%,40%,and 50%decreased by 11.47%,17.97%,25.24%,29.83%,and 42.45%,*** the gravel content increased,inverse intake suction gradually increased,and shape coefficient,K_(s),θ_(s),andθ_(r)gradually *** the same soil water content,soil water suction and K_(θ)gradually decreased with increasing gravel *** the same soil water s
