We report the charge-changing cross sections(σ_(cc))of 24 p-shell nuclides on both hydrogen and carbon at about 900A MeV,of which^(8,9)Li,^(10–12)Be,^(10,14,15)B,^(14,15,17–22)N and^(16)O on hydrogen and^(8,9)Li on carbon are for the first *** from the data set,we found a new and robust relationship between the scaling factor of the Glauber model calculations and the separation energies of the nuclei of interest on both *** allows us to deduce proton radii(R_p)for the first time from the cross sections on *** identical R_p values are deduced from both target data for the neutron-rich carbon isotopes;however,the R_p from the hydrogen target is systematically smaller in the neutron-rich nitrogen *** calls for further experimental and theoretical investigations.

In an attempt to clarify issues related to the molecular weight dependence of the phase transition of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) in water,we prepared a library of PNIPAM samples of well-controlled molecular weight (7000 to 45000 g/mol) bearing identical groups on each chain *** polymers were synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) with a bifunctional chain tranfer agent and further end group *** effects of the end group chemical structure,hydroxyethyl (hE),propargyl (Pr),chloroethyl (CE),n-butyl (nBu),n-hexyl (nhe),and isobutylsulfanylthiosulfanyl (IBS) on the phase transition temperature of aqueous PNIPAM solutions were investigated by high-sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (hS-DSC),yielding the enthalpy Δh and the endotherm maximum temperature (T M),and turbidimetry,providing the cloud point (T CP) of each *** T CP and T M of the PNIPAM sample of lowest molar mass (M n 7,000 g/mol,0.5 g/L) ranged,respectively,from 38.8 to 22.5 °C and 42.2 to 26.0 °C,depending on the structure of the end-group,whereas h showed no strong end-group *** phase transition of all polymers,except,-di(n-butyl-PNIPAM),exhibited a marked dependence on the polymer molar mass.

为弄清光周期对一种亚热带蜚蠊(Periplaneta japanna)若虫发育的控制机理,检测了光周期对冲绳(26°N)和八丈岛(33°N)两个地理种群若虫发育的影响。结果表明,光周期显著影响两地理种群的若虫发育,然而,冲绳和八丈岛种群间显示不同的光周期反应模式。冲绳种群在长日条件下(LD16∶8h)若虫发育显著快于中间日长(LD14∶10h)和短日条件下(LD12∶12h)的若虫发育,孵化后60d或120d将若虫自LD16∶8h向LD12∶12h转移,若虫发育受到抑制,而自LD12∶12h向LD16∶8h转移,则促进若虫发育。八丈岛种群的若虫在短日条件下发育最快,其次是中间日长,长日条件下若虫发育最慢,孵化后60d或120d将若虫自LD16∶8h向LD12∶12h转移抑制若虫发育,反方向转移的若虫快速发育。两地理种群间不同的光周期反应模式可以认为是趋异进化的结果。

The principal photoreceptors for image forming vision in the retina are rod and cone *** of photoreceptor cells,as happens in a number of human diseases,such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration,leads to irreversible ***,the current therapeutic treatment for retinal degeneration is very ***,we asked whether *** possible to restore any vision by ectopic expression of melanopsin,a newly discovered light-sensitive photopigment,in the surviving ganglion *** protein melanopin is normally expressed in 2%-3%of ganglion cell population of the mouse *** test this intriguing possibility,we used a viral vector to express mammalian melanopsin in other retinal ganglion cells of rd/rd mice,which suffer an early degeneration of rod photoreceptors and a subsequent degeneration of *** each retina melanopsin was expressed in up to 6000 retinal ganglion cells,of many morphological ***-cell patch-clamp recording showed intrinsic photoresponses in these cells,even after degeneration of the photoreceptors and additional pharmacological or Cd block of synaptic *** newly melanopsin-expressing ganglion cells provided an enhancement of visual function in the rd/rd mice:the pupillary light reflex returned almost to normal;the mice showed behavioral avoidance of light in an open field test;and they could discriminate a light stimulus from a dark one in a two-choice visual discrimination alley. These results show that an effective signalling pathway for melanopsin is not restricted to the retinal ganglion cells that normally contain melanopsin,or to any particular ganglion cell *** of this or other light-sensitive proteins in the surviving retinal neurons might provide some degree of vision for humans blind due to photoreceptor degeneration.

Arsenic Disulfide Induced Apoptosis and Concurrently Promoted Erythroid Differentiation in Cytokine-Dependent Myelodysplastic Syndrome-progressed Leukemia Cell Line F-36p with Complex Karyotype Including Monosomy 7

Objective： Acute myeloid leukemia progressed from myelodysplastic syndrome （MDS/AML） is generally incurable with poor prognosis for complex karyotype including monosomy 7 （-7）. Qinghuang Powder （青黄, QhP）, which includes Qing Dai （ Indigo naturalis） and Xiong huang （realgar） in the formula, is effective in treating MDS or MDS/AML even with the unfavorable karyotype, and its therapeutic efficacy could be enhanced by increasing the Xiong huang content in the formula, while Xiong huang contains 〉 90% arsenic disulfide （As2S2）. F-36p cell line was established from a MDS/AML patient with complex karyotype including -7, and was in cytokine-dependent. The present study was to investigate the effects of As2S2 on F-36p cells. Methods： Cell proliferation was measured by an 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide （MTT） assay. Cell apoptosis was identified by Annexin V-staining. Cell viability was determined by a propidium iodide （PI） exclusion. Erythroid differentiation was evaluated by the expression of cell surface antigen CD235a （GpA）. Results： After treatment with As2S2 at concentrations of 0.5 to 16 p. mol/L for 72 h, As2S2 inhibited the proliferation of F-36p cells. The 50% inhibitory concentrations （IC50） of As2S2 against the proliferation of F-36p cells was 6 I~ mol/L. The apoptotic cells significantly increased in a dose-dependent mannar （P〈0.05）. The cell viabilities were significantly inhibited by As2S2 dose-dependent in a dose-dependent manner （P〈0.05）. Significant increases of CD235a-positive cells were concurrently observed （P〈0.05） also in a dose- dependent manner. Conclusions： As2S2 could inhibit proliferation and viability, induce apoptosis, and concurrently promote erythroid differentiation dose-dependently in F-36p cells. Alkyl chlorides are robust precursors to carbon radicals;however,their relative inertness has hampered their practical *** modern photochemical strategies have greatly enhanced the utility of alkyl chlorides as radical precursors,these methods often depend on strongly reducing conditions leading to unproductive side ***,we report a catalytic radical generation from 1°,2°,and 3°unactivated alkyl chlorides with zirconocene and photoredox catalysis,which enables both hydrogenation and borylation on a range of structurally complex *** mild zirconocene-catalyzed protocol shows that zirconium can render the C−Cl bond cleavage more exergonic and can lower the activation energy of the transition state,amplifying the ability of metallocenes toward halogen atom transfer.

Using the Simplex Method for a Type of Allocation Problems

In this study we discuss the use of the simplex method to solve allocation problems whose flow matrices are doubly stochastic. Although these problems can be solved via a 0 - 1 integer programming method, h. W. Kuhn [1] suggested the use of linear programming in addition to the hungarian method. Specifically, we use the existence theorem of the solution along with partially total unimodularity and nonnegativeness of the incidence matrix to prove that the simplex method facilitates solving these problems. We also provide insights as to how a partition including a particular unit may be obtained.

Transparent visualization is used in many fields because it can visualize not only the frontal object but also other important objects behind *** in many situations,it would be very important for the 3D structures of the visualized transparent images to be perceived as they are simulated,little is known quantitatively as to how such transparent 3D structures are *** address this question,in the present study,we conducted a psychophysical experiment in which the observers reported the perceived depth magnitude of a transparent object in medical images,presented with a multiview 3D *** the visualization,we employed a stochastic point-based rendering(SPBR)method,which was developed recently as a technique for efficient *** depth of the transparent object was smaller than the simulated *** found,however,that such depth underestimation can be alleviated to some extent by(1)applying luminance gradient inherent in the SPBR method,(2)employing high opacities,and(3)introducing binocular disparity and motion parallax produced by a multi-view 3D display.
