Background: Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PhLF) is a leading cause of postoperative mortality after liver surgery. Due to its significant impact, it is imperative to understand the risk stratification and preventative strategies for PhLF. The main objective of this review is to highlight the role of these strategies in a timeline centered way around curative resection. Data sources: This review includes studies on both humans and animals, where they addressed PhLF. A literature search was conducted across the Cochrane Library, Embase, MEDLINE/Pub Med, and Web of Knowledge electronic databases for English language studies published between July 1997 and June 2020. Studies presented in other languages were equally considered. The quality of included publications was assessed using Downs and Black’s checklist. The results were presented in qualitative summaries owing to the lack of studies qualifying for quantitative analysis. Results: This systematic review with 245 studies, provides insight into the current prediction, prevention, diagnosis, and management options for PhLF. This review highlighted that liver volume manipulation is the most frequently studied preventive measure against PhLF in clinical practice, with modest improvement in the treatment strategies over the past decade. Conclusions: Remnant liver volume manipulation is the most consistent preventive measure against PhLF.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a recognized problem in patients after orthotopic liver transplantation and may lead to recurrent graft injury. As the increased demand for liver allografts fail to match the available supply of donor organs, split liver transplantation(SLT) has emerged as an important technique to increase the supply of liver grafts. SLT allows two transplants to occur from one donor organ, and provides a unique model for observing the pathogenesis of NAFLD with respect to the role of recipient environmental and genetic factors. here we report on two recipients of a SLT from the same deceased donor where only one developed non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASh), suggesting that host factors are critical for the development of NASh.

Synthesis and Characterization of New Macrocyclic Cu（Ⅱ） Complexes from Various Diamines, Copper（Ⅱ） Nitrate and 1,4-Bis（2-formylphenoxy）butane

Six new macrocyclic complexes were synthesized by a template reaction of 1,4-bis（2-formylphenoxy）butane with diamines and Cu（NO3）2·3h2O and their structures were proposed on the basis of elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity measurements and mass spectra. The metal to ligand molar ratios of the Cu（Ⅱ） complexes were found to be 1 ： 1. The Cu（Ⅱ） complexes are 1 ： 2 electrolytes as shown by their molar conductivities （∧m） in DMF at 10^-3 mol·L^-1. Due to the existence of free ions the Cu（Ⅱ） complexes are electrically conductive. Their configurations were proposed to be probably distorted octahedral.

Ischemic colitis induced by the newly reformulated multicomponent weight-loss supplement hydroxycut~

Ischemic colitis accounts for 6%-18% of causes of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding. It is more often multifactorial and more common in elderly. Drugs are considered important causative agents of this disease with different mechanisms. In this paper, we describe a 37-year-old otherwise healthy female presented with sudden onset diffuse abdominal pain and bloody stool. Radiologic, colonoscopic and histopathologic findings were all consistent with ischemic colitis. her only suspected factor was hydroxycut which she had been taking for a period of 1 mo prior to her presentation. her condition improved uneventfully after cessation of hydroxycut, bowel rest, intravenous hydration, and antibiotics. This is a first case of ischemic colitis with clear relationship with hydroxycut use (Naranjo score of 7). Our case demonstrates the importance of questioning patients regarding the usage of dietary supplements; especially since many patients consider them safe anddo not disclose their use voluntarily to their physicians. hydroxycut has to be considered as a potential trigger for otherwise unexplained ischemic colitis.

Enhanced termination of zinc and cadmium ions from wastewater employing plain and chitosan-modified mxenes:synthesis,characterization,and adsorption performance

Zinc and cadmium pollutants cause a significant environmental effect that cannot be *** to their considerable amount in an aqueous environment,industries are seeking suitable adsorbents that are environmentally friendly and inexpensive for removing metals from wastewater before disposing of them in surface *** research employed original MXene(MX)and chitosan-modified MXene(CSMX)to extract zinc(Zn(Ⅱ))and cadmium(Cd(Ⅱ))metal ions from water-based *** composite material produced was analyzed using techniques such as X-ray Diffraction(XRD),Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR),and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET).The effects of contact duration,p h of the solution,and initial concentration of metal ions on the adsorption process of Zn(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)onto both MX and CSMX composites were *** and prepared CSMX composite presented a high adsorption capacity for both studied heavy metals,which were 91.55 and 73.82 mg/g for Zn(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)onto MX,106.84 and 93.07 mg/g for Cd(Ⅱ)and Zn(Ⅱ)onto CSMX composite,***,the maximum competitive adsorption capacities for Zn(Ⅱ)onto MX and CSMX composites are 77.29 and 93.47 mg/g,and for are Cd(Ⅱ)60.30 and 79.66 mg/g,***,the removal capacities for both single and competitive metal ions were superior to CSMX ***,the adsorption capacities after five successive regeneration sequences were only dropped by 13.2%for Zn(Ⅱ)and 17.4%for Cd(Ⅱ)onto the CSMX composite compared to the first *** results confirm that both metals could be efficiently terminated from wastewater,which makes the prepared CSMX composite a favorable candidate adsorbent in practical applications.

Identifying Critical Parameters in SIR Model for Spread of Disease

Calculating analytical approximate solutions for non-linear infectious disease models is a difficult task. Such models often require computational tools to analyse analytical approximate methods which appear in some theoretical and practical applications in systems biology. They represent key critical elements and give some approximate solutions for such systems. The SIR epidemic disease model is given as the non-linear system of ODE’s. Then, we use a proper scaling to reduce the number of parameters. We suggest Elzaki transform method to find analytical approximate solutions for the simplified model. The technique plays an important role in calculating the analytical approximate solutions. The local and global dynamics of the model are also studied. An investigation of the behaviour at infinity was conducted via finding the lines and singular points at infinity. Model dynamic results are computed in numerical simulations using Pplane8 and SimBiology Toolbox for Mathlab. Results provide a good step forward for describing the model dynamics. More interestingly, the simplified model could be accurate, robust, and used by biologists for different purposes such as identifying critical model elements.

A series of N-substituted （Z）-3-（（2-benzyl）-4-oxopent-2-yl）pyrrole-2,5-diones were synthesized and characterized. The compounds were synthesized from dimethyl-2-（（Z）-2-（benzylamino）-4-oxopent-2-en-3-yl） fumarate （9） and dimethyl acetylenedi-carboxylate followed by reaction with some amines in refluxing ethanol. The identification of the compounds were based on spectroscopic analysis such as 1R （infrared）, UV （ultraviolet）, ^1h-NMR （nuclear magnetic resonance） and the microanalysis of the elements （ChN （microanalysis）） data.

Information security has emerged as a key problem in encryption because of the rapid evolution of the internet and ***,the progress of image encryption techniques is becoming an increasingly serious issue and considerable *** space of the key,encryption-based low confidentiality,low key sensitivity,and easily exploitable existing image encryption techniques integrating chaotic system and DNA computing are purposing the main problems to propose a new encryption technique in this *** our proposed scheme,a three-dimensional Chen’s map and a one-dimensional Logistic map are employed to construct a double-layer image encryption *** the confusion stage,different scrambling operations related to the original plain image pixels are designed using Chen’s map.A stream pixel scrambling operation related to the plain image is ***,a block scrambling-based image encryption-related stream pixel scrambled image is *** the diffusion stage,two rounds of pixel diffusion are generated related to the confusing image for intra-image ***’s map,logistic map,and DNA computing are employed to construct diffusion operations.A reverse complementary rule is applied to obtain a new form of DNA.A Chen’s map is used to produce a pseudorandom DNA sequence,and then another DNA form is constructed from a reverse pseudorandom DNA ***,the XOR operation is performed multiple times to obtain the encrypted *** to the simulation of experiments and security analysis,this approach extends the key space,has great sensitivity,and is able to withstand various typical *** adequate encryption effect is achieved by the proposed algorithm,which can simultaneously decrease the correlation between adjacent pixels by making it near zero,also the information entropy is *** number of pixels changing rate(NPCR)and the unified average change intensity(UACI)both are very near to optimal values.
