Detection of virulent strains of helicobacter pylori and its relation to symptoms and signs in children

Objective:To detect the prevalence of helicobacter polori(***) in a group of pediatric patients complaining of gastrointestinal disorders,and to identify the virulent strains of h. pylori and its relation to peptic ***:The study included 60 patients(41 males and 19 females),aged from 6 months to 14 years,with complaining of different gastrointestinal *** IgG antibodies were *** examination of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum was done in all patients using a fibreoptic *** addition, gastric antral biopsies were taken for diagnosis of *** infection in the following test: rapid urease test,histopathologic examination and *** cytotoxin assay of virulent strains was *** infection was diagnosed if 3 or more tests for diagnosis were found to be ***:33 out of 60 patients(55%) was positive.12(20%) patients had positive toxin producing strains(virulent strains).Virulent strain had a significantly closer relationship with recurrent abdominal pain,while no difference was found in other symptoms. Age of patients showed a highly significant positive correlation with virulent *** strain. histopathological finding revealed that oesophagitis was significandy common in patients with negative *** and histopathological findings revealed that virulent strain had a significandy higher gastritis and oesophagitis ***:Infection by virulent strains of *** in children is not uncommon:It is associated with endoscopic and histopathologic *** cases infected with virulent strain showed positive results by using rapid urease test,culture and IgG antibodies.

Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES)and torque magnetometry(TM)measurements have been carried out to study the electronic structures of a correlated topological insulator(TI)candidate Yb *** observed clear surface states on the[001]surface centered at theГ^- and М^- points of the surface Brillouin ***,the fermiology revealed by the quantum oscillation of TM measurements agrees excellently with ARPES ***,the band structures we observed suggest that the band inversion in Yb B6 happens between the Yb5 dand B2bands,instead of the Yb5dand Yb4fbands as suggested by previous theoretical investigation,which will help settle the heavy debate regarding the topological nature of samarium/ytterbium hexaborides.

A Study on Nanoparticle Aerosol Filtration via Different Fibrous Filters by Using CFD Approach

Fibrous filters such as nonwoven media are generally characterized by their collection efficiency and pressure drop. The traditional computational studies in this area typically based on unrealistic over-simplified geometries with the fibers placed in a lattice perpendicular to the flow. This paper describes the filter properties made of different Nonwoven materials by using Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD） approach. In this study, for the first time, a virtual 3- D web is generated based on the fiber orientation information obtaining from analyzing microscopic images of both long-fiber and short-fiber nonwoven structures. Pressure drop and collection efflcicucy of our virtual filter are simulated and compared with the previous analytical and numerical models as well as experiment.

Numerical studies of the effects of phase transitions on Venusian mantle convection

This paper presents a study on the effects of phase transitions on the mantle convection of Venus in a three-dimensional （3D） spherical shell domain. Our model includes strong depth- and temperature-dependent viscosity and exothermic phase change from olivine to spinel as well as endothermic phase change from spinel to perovskite. From extensive numerical simulations of the effects of Rayleigh number （Ra）, and the Clapeyron slopes and depths of phase changes, we found the following：（1） The endothermic phase change prevents mass flow through the interface. Increasing the absolute value of the Clapeyron slopes decreases radial mass flux and normalized radial mass flux at the endotbermic phase boundary, and decreases the number of mantle plumes. In other words, mass flow through the phase boundary decreases. The inhibition influence of phase changes increases, as do convective wavelengths. （2） Increasing Ra also increases the convective wavelength and decreases the number of mantle plumes, but it has less influence on the mass exchange. As Ra increases, the convective vigor increases along with the radial mass flux and the mass flow through the phase boundary; however, the normalized mass flux through the phase boundary varies little with Ra, which is different from the conclusion that increasing Ra will greatly increase the inhibition of mass flow through the phase boundary based on two-dimensional （2D） modeling. （3） Increasing the depth of endothermic phase change will slightly decrease the number of mantle plumes, but has little effect on the mass flow through the phase boundary. Consistent with previous studies, our results show that the phase change from spinel to perovskite could inhibit the mass flow through the phase boundary, but they also show that the buildup of hot materials under the endothermic phase boundary in the 3D model could not be so large as to cause strong episodic overturns of mantle materials, which is quite different from previous 2D studies.

Ezetimbe as potential treatment for cholesterol gallstones: The need for clinical trials

Obesity is associated with insulin resistance, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and gallstones. high fat diets (unsaturated fats) rich in cholesterol have been demonstrated to produce not only gallstones but also NAFLD and insulin resistance. Interestingly, a high incidence of gallstones is being reported in association with insulin resistance and NAFLD. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the best definitive therapy for symptomatic gallbladder disease. Ezetimibe is a drug that inhibits the absorption of both dietary and biliary cholesterol in the small intestine. Importantly, ezetimibe showed potential benefit not only in treating and preventing gallstones but also in insulin resistance and NAFLD. Further studies are required before the use of ezetimibe for the treatment of gallstones can be advocated.

Secondary M23C6 precipitation around primary MC carbide in a directionally solidified cobalt-base saperalloy was investigated duriny aging at 850℃. The results show that it was closely related to the decomposition of the MC. Two mechanisms were suggested,i.e. the in situ reaction, MC+γ→M23C6+C, and the direct reaction, M+C→M23C6,in which MC acted as a carbon source.

Time-Independent Finite Difference and Ghost Cell Method to Study Sloshing Liquid in 2D and 3D Tanks with Internal Structures

Biomass-derived carbon doping to enhance the current carrying capacity and flux pinning of an isotopic Mg^(11)B_(2)superconductor

Low activation isotopic boron(11B)based magnesium diboride(Mg^(11)B_(2))superconductors doped with biomass-derived activated carbon were synthesized using11B and magnesium powder via solid-state *** effect of carbon doping on the lattice structure and superconducting properties of Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were evaluated using X-ray powder diffraction,high resolution transmission electron microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and magnetization *** refinement of structural parameters indicates successful substitution of carbon in Mg^(11)B_(2)*** critical current density(Jc)of carbon doped Mg^(11)B_(2)synthesized at 650℃was enhanced more than two times compared with the pure Mg^(11)B_(2)*** improvement was observed for the Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks heat-treated at 800℃.This enhancement is due to successful substitution of biomass-derived carbon with high surface area into Mg^(11)B_(2)*** flux pinning mechanism of pure and doped Mg^(11)B_(2)bulks were investigated using the Dew-hughes *** study provides information regarding enhancement of the Jc of low activation Mg^(11)B_(2)superconductors suitable for next-generation fusion magnets.

Reserve Constrained Dynamic Economic Dispatch with Valve-point Effect:A Two-stage Mixed Integer Linear Programming Approach

This paper proposes a deterministic two-stage mixed integer linear programming(TSMILP)approach to solve the reserve constrained dynamic economic dispatch(DED)problem considering valve-point effect(VPE).In stage one,the nonsmooth cost function and the transmission loss are piecewise linearized and consequently the DED problem is formulated as a mixed integer linear programming(MILP)problem,which can be solved by commercial *** stage two,based on the solution obtained in stage one,a range compression technique is proposed to make a further exploitation in the subspace of the whole solution *** to the linear approximation of the transmission loss,the solution obtained in stage two dose not strictly satisfies the power balance ***,a forward procedure is employed to eliminate the *** simulation results on four test systems show that TSMILP makes satisfactory performances,in comparison with the existing methods.
