Using Landau mean field model,the spontaneous polarization and the dielectric susceptibility are analyzed as functions of temperature and pressure close to the cubic-tetragonal(ferroelectric-paraelectric)transition in BaTiO_(3).From the analysis of the dielectric susceptibility and the spontaneous polarization,the critical exponents are deduced in the classical and quantum limits for BaTiO_(3).From the critical behavior of the dielectric susceptibility,the spontaneous polarization can be described for the ferro-electric–paraelectric(cubic to tetragonal)transition between 4 and 8 GPa at constant temperatures of 0 to 200K in BaTiO_(3) within the Landau mean field model given here.

Beryllium-7 (7Be) and lead-210 (210Pb) radioac- tivity in aerosols collected, from October 2002 to January 2004 at Mt. Waliguan, by the Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) Station, Qinghai Province is presented. The data were analyzed together with simultaneously measured surface ozone concentrations. We found that short time variations of 7Be and 210Pb were linked to alternations of synoptic weather around the Mt. Waliguan region. 210Pb showed the lowest concentration in summer while Be showed no obvious sea- 7 sonal changes. Relatively high Be and 7 210 Pb radioactivity was observed at Mt. Waliguan when compared with the ob- servations at other mountain sites in other parts of the world. Surface ozone and 7Be showed a consistent seasonalvariation. Surface ozone correlated fairly well with 7Be/210Pb ratio. This suggested that vertical transport from higher altitudes of the atmosphere has predominant effects on the budget of surface ozone at Mt. Waliguan.

In this paper,we present a model for grown-in point defects inside indium antimonide crystals grown by the Czochralski(CZ)*** model is similar to the ones used for silicon crystal,which includes the Fickian diffusion and a recombina-tion *** type of models is used for the first time to analyze grown-in point defects in indium antimonide *** temperature solution and the advance of the melt-crystal interface,which determines the time-dependent domain of the model,are based on a recently derived perturbation *** propose a finite difference method which takes into account the moving *** study the effect of thermal flux on the point defect patterns during and at the end of the growth *** results show that the concentration of excessive point defects is positively correlated to the heat flux in the system.

Clinical features of alcoholic hepatitis in latinos and caucasians: A single center experience

AIM To study differences of presentation, management, and prognosis of alcoholic hepatitis in Latinos compared to Caucasians. METhODS We retrospectively screened 876 charts of Caucasian and Latino patients who were evaluated at University of California Davis Medical Center between 1/1/2002-12/31/2014 with the diagnosis of alcoholic liver disease. We identified and collected data on 137 Caucasians and 64 Latinos who met criteria for alcoholic hepatitis, including chronic history of heavy alcohol use, at least one episode of jaundice with bilirubin ≥ 3.0 orcoagulopathy, new onset of liver decompensation or acute liver decompensation in known cirrhosis within 12 wk of last drink. RESULTS The mean age at presentation of alcoholic hepatitis was not significantly different between Latinos and Caucasians. There was significant lower rate of overall substance abuse in Caucasians compared to Latinos and Latinos had a higher rate of methamphetamine abuse(12.5% vs 0.7%) compared to Caucasians. Latinos had a higher mean number of hospitalizations(5.3 ± 5.6 vs 2.7 ± 2.7, P = 0.001) and mean Emergency Department visits(9.5 ± 10.8 vs 4.5 ± 4.1, P = 0.017) for alcohol related issues and complications compared to Caucasians. There was significantly higher rate of complications of portal hypertension including gastrointestinal bleeding(79.7% vs 45.3%, P halopathy(81.2% vs 55.5%, P = 0.001) in Latinos compared to *** Latinos have significant higher rates of utilization of acute care services for manifestations alcoholic hepatitis and complications suggesting poor access to outpatient care.
