AIm:To evaluate the prophylactic properties of integrin CD18-βA peptide in a murine model of abdominal polymicrobial peritonitis and ***:Bacterial sepsis was induced in Institute of Cancer Research(ICR) mice by cecal ligation and puncture(CLP) *** mice were then injected with either sterile saline or CD18-βA peptide intraperitoneally at 2 h after surgery,and were sacrificed at 12 and 24 h after *** samples were immediately collected,and analyzed for endotoxin activity and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α and interleukin(IL)-*** and liver were studied for CD45+ leukocyte and CD3 mRNA *** expression of intercellular adhesion molecule(ICAm)-1,vascular cell adhesion molecule(VCAm) and E-selectin was also ***:Intraperitoneal injection of CD18-βA peptide significantly suppressed circulating endotoxin activity(Ph,as well as serum levels of TNF-α(Ph) and IL-6(Ph,Ph) in CLP-inflicted ***18-βA peptide also abrogated leukocyte infiltration into liver and lungs as unveiled by reduced CD45+ leukocyte and CD3 mRNA ***,the peptide significantly reduced pulmonary expression of VCAm(Ph,Ph),E-selectin(Ph),and ICAm-1(Ph,Ph).These actions of CD18-βA peptide collectively protected septic mice against lethality(Phat can protect surgical patients against sepsis-associated lethality.

Electroless Ni-P/nano-CeO2 composite coating was prepared in acidic condition, and its microstructure and corrosive property were compared with its CeO2-free counterpart. Scanning electronic microscopy （SEm）, transmission electronic microscopy （TEm） and differential scanning calorimeter （DSC） were used to examine surface morphology and microstructure of the coating. Aqueous corrosion was done in 3%NaCl＋5%h2SO4 solution and high temperature oxidation was done at 750 ℃ in air. The results showed that Ni-P coating had partial amorphous structure mixed with nano-crystals, while the Ni-P/CeO2 coating had perfect amorphous structure. At high temperature, Ni3P precipitation and Ni crystallization took place in both coatings at different temperatures. Aqueous corrosion property and high temperature oxidation property of the composite coating were remarkably improved due to the coating＇s microstructure change and the rare earth doping effect. During the co-deposition process, some Ce^n＋（n=3, 4） ions may be adsorbed to metal/solution interface and hinder nickel deposition. Ni-P/CeO2 coating＇s perfect amorphous structure results from the hindered crystal-typed deposition of nickel and the promoted deposition of phosphorous.

Background: Forest management has historically focused on provisioning of goods (e.g. timber, biomass), butthere is an increasing interest to manage forests also to maintain biodiversity and to provide other ecosystemservices (ES).methods: We evaluated the effects of firewood harvesting intensity on biodiversity and different ES in threecontrasting shrubland sites in northern Patagonia (Argentina). At each site, four harvesting treatments, representingvarious levels of harvest intensity, were randomly assigned to eight permanent sample plots of 31.5m× 45 mduring 2013–***: We found that the effects of increasing harvesting intensity on plant diversity changed from negative topositive (and from nonlinear to more linear responses) with increasing site productivity. harvesting intensityshowed contrasting effects on variables related to fire protection ecosystem service, since it reduced fuel amount(potentially reducing fire spread) but also reduced live fuel moisture content (potentially increasing flammability) atthe three sites. Two variables related to soil formation and protection ES, leaf litter cover and aerial soil cover,decreased with harvesting intensity at the three ***: We conclude that shrubland management for firewood production may enhance biodiversity withoutcompromising certain important ES. The intensity of harvesting should be determined according to site conditionsand forecasted impacts on biodiversity, fire and soil formation and protection.

This paper studies the problem of stability for Takagi-Sugeno（T-S） fuzzy systems with time varying *** employing a new augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii function,using the second-order Bessel-Legendre inequality and combining with reciprocally convex approach,some less conservative delay-dependent stability criteria are derived within the framework of linear matrix inequalities（LmIs）.Two numerical examples are proposed to illustrate the effectiveness and the improvement of the proposed method.
