The diagnosis of multiple sclerosis(mS)is based on accurate detection of lesions on magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)which also provides ongoing essential information about the progression and status of the *** detection of lesions is very time consuming and lacks *** of the lesions are difficult to detect manually,especially within the grey *** paper proposes a novel and fully automated convolution neural network(CNN)approach to segment *** proposed system consists of two 2D patchwise CNNs which can segment lesions more accurately and *** first CNN network is implemented to segment lesions accurately,and the second network aims to reduce the false positives to increase *** system consists of two parallel convolutional pathways,where one pathway is concatenated to the second and at the end,the fully connected layer is replaced with *** routine mRI sequences T1-w,T2-w and FLAIR are used as input to the CNN,where FLAIR is used for segmentation because most lesions on mRI appear as bright regions and T1-w&T2-w are used to reduce mRI *** evaluated the proposed system on two challenge datasets that are publicly available from mICCAI and *** and qualitative evaluation has been performed with various metrics like false positive rate(FPR),true positive rate(TPR)and dice similarities,and were compared to current state-of-the-art *** proposed method shows consistent higher precision and sensitivity than other *** proposed method can accurately and robustly segment mS lesions from images produced by different mRI scanners,with a precision up to 90%.

目的肌肉活动通常可以通过肌电图直接测量或肌骨模型计算得到。然而,该类方法对于非技术用户或在非实验室场景下使用较为不便。基于惯性传感单元数据的深度学习模型为肌肉活动计算提供了更为简单易用的解决方案。然而大规模训练数据的获取困难限制了深度学习模型的计算效能。本研究旨在构建基于小样本惯性传感单元数据的新型深度学习模型,计算步态过程中的下肢肌肉活动。为了进一步提升所构建深度学习模型的估计精度,本研究开发了一种基于模型的新型数据扩充方法。方法基于7名受试者的小样本数据集,构建了两阶段下肢肌肉活动的计算方法。基于时间卷积网络构建了muscle GAN模型,用于数据扩充。此外,基于卷积注意力机制构建了混合深度学习模型,用于步态过程中的下肢肌肉活动计算。结果多种步速下,所提出的两阶段下肢肌肉活动计算结果和肌电测量数据之间具有高相关性。下肢肌肉活动的平均皮尔逊相关系数和归一化均方根误差分别为0.72和0.13。与原始数据集相比,基于muscle GAN的扩充数据集有效提升了下肢肌肉活动的计算精度。结论基于惯性传感单元的小样本数据集,本研究所提出的两阶段下肢肌肉活动计算方法能准确计算下肢肌电包络,可为多场景下肢肌肉活动的精确计算提供新思路。

This paper presents the fabrication and a spectroscopic study of a stable radio- frequency dielectric barrier discharge （RF DBD） in Ar with a novel dielectric, anodic alumina, at atmospheric pressure. Dielectric electrodes are fabricated from commercially available low cost impure aluminum strips by a two-step anodization process in 0.3 m solution of oxalic acid. The discharge is found to be stable with excellent spatial uniformity for the RF input power range of 30～80 W. Excitation and rotational temperatures measured in the experiment range of 1472～3255 K and 434～484 K, respectively, as the input power changes from 30 W to 80 W. These temperature ranges are suitable for surface modification applications.

high-quality control of receiver functions using a capsule neural network

The Red Sea-Gulf of Suez-Cairo-Alexandria Clysmic-Trend in northern Egypt is the main earthquake zone in the country, with a moderate-to-high seismic hazard and a history of significant earthquakes caused by rifting and active faulting. To improve our understanding of the tectonic and seismic processes in this area, more comprehensive imaging of the crustal structure is required. This can be achieved by increasing the number of receiver functions (RFs) recorded by the seismic stations in northern Egypt and the southeastern mediterranean. Data handling and processing should also be automated to increase process efficiency. In this study, we developed a capsule neural network for automated selection of RFs. The model was trained on a dataset containing RFs (both selected and unselected) from five broadband stations in northern Egypt. Stations SLm, SIWA, KOT, NBNS, and NKL are located in the unstable shelf region of Egypt, where limited knowledge of the deep crustal structure is available. The proposed capsule neural network achieved an average precision of 80% on the test set. The automated selection of RFs using a capsule neural network has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and accuracy of RF analysis, as demonstrated by the stacking test. This could lead to a better understanding of crustal structure and tectonic processes in northern Egypt and the southeastern mediterranean.

Agricultural practices significantly contribute to greenhouse gas(GhG)emissions,necessitating cleaner production technologies to reduce environmental pressure and achieve sustainable maize *** film mulching is commonly used in the Loess Plateau *** slow-release fertilizers as a replacement for urea within this practice can reduce nitrogen losses and enhance crop *** these techniques represents a novel agricultural approach in semi-arid ***,the impact of this integration on soil carbon storage(SOCS),carbon footprint(CF),and economic benefits has received limited research ***,we conducted an eight-year study(2015-2022)in the semi-arid northwestern region to quantify the effects of four treatments[urea supplied without plastic film mulching(CK-U),slow-release fertilizer supplied without plastic film mulching(CK-S),urea supplied with plastic film mulching(Pm-U),and slow-release fertilizer supplied with plastic film mulching(Pm-S)]on soil fertility,economic and environmental *** results revealed that nitrogen fertilizer was the primary contributor to total GhG emissions(≥71.97%).Compared to other treatments,Pm-S increased average grain yield by 12.01%-37.89%,water use efficiency by 9.19%-23.33%,nitrogen accumulation by 27.07%-66.19%,and net return by 6.21%-29.57%.Furthermore,Pm-S decreased CF by 12.87%-44.31%and CF per net return by 14.25%-41.16%.After eight years,Pm-S increased SOCS(0-40 cm)by 2.46%,while Pm-U decreased it by 7.09%.These findings highlight the positive effects of Pm-S on surface soil fertility,economic gains,and environmental benefits in spring maize production on the Loess Plateau,underscoring its potential for widespread adoption and application.

Thermal energy storage(TES) systems use solar energy despite its irregular availability and day-night temperature *** work reports the thermal characterizations of solar salt-based phase change composites in the presence of graphene nanoplatelets(GNP).Solar salt(60:40 of NaNO_(3):KNO_(3)) possessing phase transition temperature and melting enthalpy of 221.01℃ and 134.58 kJ/kg is proposed as a phase change material(PCm) for high-temperature solar-based energy storage *** conductivity must be improved to make them suitable for widespread applications and to close the gap between the system needs where they are *** is added at weight concentrations of 0.1%,0.3%,and 0.5% with solar salt using the ball milling method to boost its thermal *** studies indicated the formation of a uniform surface of GNP on solar *** spectrum peaks identified the physical interaction between salt and *** characterization of the composites,such as thermal conductivity,DSC and TGA was carried out for the samples earlier and later 300 thermal cycles.0.5% of GNP has improved the thermal conductivity of salt by 129.67% and after thermal cycling,the enhancement reduced to 125.21% indicating that thermal cycling has a minor impact on thermal *** change temperature decreased by around 2.32% in the presence of0.5% GNP and the latent heat reduced by 4.34% after thermal *** thermograms depicted the composites initiated the weight loss at around 550℃ after which it was *** thermal cycling,the weight loss initiated at ~40℃ lower compared to pure salt,which was found to be a minor *** characterization of solar salt and GNP-based solar salt composites revealed that the composites can be used for enhanced heat transfer in high-temperature solar-based heat transfer and energy storage applications.
