In addition to the loss of motor function,~60% of patients develop pain after spinal cord *** cellular-molecular mechanisms are not well understood,but the data suggests that plasticity within the rostral,epicenter,and caudal penumbra of the injury site initiates a cellularmolecular interplay that acts as a rewiring mechanism leading to central neuropathic *** can lead to the formation of new connections triggering abnormal sensory *** excitatory glutamate transporters are responsible for the reuptake of extracellular glutamate which makes them a critical target to prevent neuronal hyperexcitability and *** previous studies showed a sexually dimorphic therapeutic window for spinal cord injury after treatment with the selective estrogen receptor modulator *** this study,we investigated the anti-allodynic effects of tamoxifen in male and female rats with spinal cord *** hypothesized that tamoxifen exerts anti-allodynic effects by increasing the expression of glutamate transporters,leading to reduced hyperexcitability of the secondary neuron or by decreasing aberrant *** and female rats received a moderate contusion to the thoracic spinal cord followed by subcutaneous slow-release treatment of tamoxifen or matrix pellets as a control(placebo).We used von Frey monofilaments and the“up-down method”to evaluate mechanical *** treatment decreased allodynia only in female rats with spinal cord injury revealing a sexdependent *** expression profile of glutamatergic transporters(excitatory amino acid transporter 1/glutamate aspartate transporter and excitatory amino acid transporter 2/glutamate transporter-1)revealed a sexual dimorphism in the rostral,epicenter,and caudal areas of the spinal cord with a pattern of expression primarily on *** rodents showed a significantly higher level of excitatory amino acid transporter-1 expression while male rodents showed increased

In this study,transient non-Fourier heat transfer in a solid cylinder is analytically solved based on dual-phase-lag for constant axial heat flux *** equations for the model are expressed in two-dimensional cylindrical coordinates;the equations are nondimensionalized and exact solution for the equations is presented by using the separation of variable *** showed that the dual-phase-lag model requires less time to meet the steady temperature compared with single-phase-lag *** the contrary,thermal wave diffusion speed for the dual-phase-lag model is greater than the single-phase-lag *** the effect of relaxation time in dual-phase-lag model has been taken on consideration.

Gyrinops walla Gaertn. is the only species growing in sri Lanka that belongs to the agarwood family,Thymelaeaceae. Although agarwood resin induction and extraction from Aquilaria species of the same family have been practised for many decades in southeast Asian region,the ability of producing agarwood resins in G. walla was discovered recently. since previous studies were on agarwood resins formed due to natural causes, the present study was conducted to identify the potential fungal species that are capable of artificially inducing agarwood resin formation in G. walla. since this is the first ever study conducted on artificial inducement of agarwood resin formation in ***, Aspergillus niger and Fusarium solani were selected owing to their high abundance in the naturally formed agarwood resinous tissues collected from 25 G. walla *** fungal species were separately grown in yeast extract glucose agar and used to inoculate healthy G. walla trees under aseptic conditions. Three holes were made for each tree and 2 g of fungal culture including the medium were placed in each hole. Tissue discoloration, characteristic aroma, resin content and resin constituents were checked at10 cm intervals above and below the inoculation points for a period of 1 year. Results revealed that tissue discoloration and resin content were higher in the trees inoculated with A. niger. Other than at 10 cm above and below the inoculation points, samples collected at all locations had significantly higher resin contents when inoculated with A. niger compared to F. solani. sixteen agarwood resin constituents, which were also recorded in Aquilaria species, were identified from the discolored tissues using GC–ms analysis. some effective parameters on the copper extraction from Kiire chalcopyrite concentrate were optimized by using response surface methodology （Rsm）. Experiments designed by Rsm were carried out in the presence of ammonium persulfate （Aps） and different types of impeller in an autoclave system. Ammonium persulfate concentration and leaching temperature were defined numerically and three types of impellers were defined categorically as independent variables using experimental design software. The optimum condition for copper extraction from the chalcopyrite concentrate is found to be ammonium persulfate concentration of 277.77 kg/m3, leaching temperature of 389.98 K and wheel type of impeller. The proposed model equation using Rsm has shown good agreement with the experimental data, with correlation coefficients R2 and RaZaj for the model as 0.89 and 0.84, respectively.

The reduction of Cr（Ⅵ） in aqueous solution by using bauxite ore was *** results for Cr（Ⅵ）reduction in aqueous solution depending on some factors such as time,sulfuric acid amount,bauxite dosage,initial Cr（Ⅵ）concentration,formic acid concentration,daylight and temperature were *** obtained results show that sulfuric acid amount,bauxite dosage and initial Cr（Ⅵ） concentration of solution are most effective parameters on the reduction ***,it has been found that the 60 g/L of bauxite dosage is sufficient to reduce up to 100% of Cr（Ⅵ） from acidic solution under the condition of low initial Cr（Ⅵ） mass concentrations such as 10 mg/*** reduction reaction is completed within 30 min at 25 ℃ under the experimental conditions：bauxite dosage of 60 g/L,amount of sulfuric acid 40-60 stoichiometric and initial mass concentration of Cr（Ⅵ）,10 mg/*** was determined that reduction percentage is decreasing with increasing initial Cr（Ⅵ） *** chemical oxygen demand of bauxite ore was found to be 26 mg COd/g.

It is known that increasing the injection pressure reduces the breakup length and the droplet *** pulses,on the other hand,helps to atomize the liquid into finer droplets,similar to airassisted injectors but without altering the airtofuel *** further reduce the droplet size and breakup length,a novel injector type,called''pulsed pressureswirl"(pps),is introduced in this work,which is a combination of pressureswirl and ultrasonic pulsed injectors.A pressureswirl atomizer was designed and fabricated specifically for mazut hFO(heavy Fuel Oil).The droplet formation process and droplet size distribution have been studied experimentally(by shadowgraphy high speed imaging)and numerically(with the opensource VolumeofFluid code Gerris).Changing liquid injection pressure effect on the spray angle and film thickness has been *** simulations have been used to study the primary breakup process and quantify the droplet size distributions,using different injection pulse frequencies and *** numerical results have revealed that the new injector concept successfully produces finer droplets and results in a decrease in the breakup length,especially when applying high pulse frequencies,with no significant changes in the spray angle.

In order to improve and stabilize the magnetic properties of nanocomposite Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe magnetic alloys by a compositional adjustment, small amount of dy and/or Co was added to Nd9Fe84B7 alloys. dTA analysis on the amorphous of the alloys took place as the soft magnetic phases were crystallized, and then the hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B was precipitated from them. While α-Fe and a metastable 1:7 (TbCu7-type) phase were formed simultaneously in dy and Co-free alloys, they were crystallized separately at different temperatures after dy or Co was added. This phase separation occurred more clearly in the dy-treated alloys and the other soft magnetic phase Fe3B was also stabilized by dy and/or Co. The 1: 7 phase that was stabilized by dy and/or Co was not eliminated at 700 ℃, decreasing magnetic properties of the alloys. It was eventually disappeared above 725 ℃, but Fe3B was not eliminated even at 750 ℃ when dy was added more than 0.5 at% or Co was added more than 2.0 at%. Amount of Nd2Fe14B in the alloys tended to increase as dy addition increased,whereas Co addition did not lead to any appreciable change in the ratio of α-Fe and Nd2Fe14B. moreover, dy addition apparently increased coercivity of an alloy while Co addition had a beneficial effect on remanence. The grains in the dytreated alloys were usually finer than those in the Co-treated alloys. The grain size of both α-Fe and Nd2Fe14B in the alloys exhibiting mr ≥ 0.72 was in the range of 20 ～ 40 nm or even larger 50 nm, which is larger than the theoretical optimum size ( ～ 10 nm). Typical magnetic properties obtained from a Nd7.5dy1.5Fe82.5Co1.5B7 alloy annealed for 12 min at 725 ℃were ihc=4.85 kOe, Br= 11.32 kG, (Bh)max = 15.73 mGOe, and mr=0.73.

In the field of yarn dyeing, the most generally employed method is a type of package dyeing which uses a package of cheese stacked on a spindle made of a perforated tube. spindles up to now, have been designed without considering the characteristics of dyeing liquid, focusing only on the geometric configuration which cause many problems such as lack of level dyeing. To improve the level dyeing and find the appropriate spindle configuration for the most effective dyeing process, this study examines the spindle flow-field in detail, using a computational method. Flow characteristics inside the spindle have been investigated with varying in porosity, porous diameter and the velocity of the flow. The results show that the total pressure of the flow through the spindle is used to overcome body force. The characteristics of the flow from the porous spindle could also be observed. Based on the results from this study, an effective spindle configuration for level-dyeing has been proposed.

The flow and mixing behavior of two miscible liquids has been studied in an innovative static mixer by using CFd,with Reynolds numbers ranging from 20 to *** performance of the new mixer is compared with those of Kenics,smX,and Komax static *** pressure drop ratio(Z-factor),coefficient of variation(CoV),and extensional efficiency(α)features have been used to evaluate power consumption,distributive mixing,and dispersive mixing performances,respectively,in all *** model is firstly validated based on experimental data measured for the pressure drop ratio and the coefficient of *** results are consistent with measured data and those obtained by available correlations in the *** new mixer shows a superior mixing performance compared to the other mixers.
