In this study,a two-step method was used to synthesize highly luminescent AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS quantum dots(QDs).In the first step,an inner ZnS sh.ll was formed via a one-pot method,which resulted in a smaller lattice mismatch between the AgGaS core and the outer ZnS sh.ll,thereby facilitating the formation of a thick outer *** the two-step sh.lling process,the synthesized AgGaS/ZnS/ZnS QDs showed an excellent photoluminescence quantum yield(PlQY)of 96.4%with a peak wavelength of 508 nm,repre-senting the highest PlQY reported thus far for AgGaS ***,the effect of h.logen ions in Zn precursors on the sh.lling process was *** was proposed that the capacity of h.logen ions to coordinate with the QDs influenced the balance between Zn cation diffusion and ZnS sh.lling ***,the ZnS sh.lling reaction was dominant when ZnCl_(2)was employed,wh.le Zn cation diffusion was the dominant process under the I^(−)-rich *** work provides insights into the interfacial restructuring during the ZnS sh.lling and offers a clear map for the tailored synthesis of core/sh.ll QDs.

Estimating Critical Clearing Time of Grid Faults Using DA of State-Reduction Model of Power Systems

This paper proposes a critical clearing time (CCT) estimation method by the domain of attraction (DA) of a state-reduction model of power systems using sum of squares (SOS) programming. By exploiting the property of the Jacobian matrix and the structure of the boundary of the DA, it is found the DA of the state-reduction model and that of the full model of a power system are topological isomorphism. There are one-to-one correspondence relationships between the number of equilibrium points, the type of equilibrium points, and solutions of the two system models. Based on these findings, an expanding interior algorithm is proposed with SOS programming to estimate the DA of the state-reduction model. State trajectories of the full model can be transformed to those of the state-reduction model by orthogonal or equiradius projection. In this way, CCT of a grid fault is estimated with the DA of the state-reduction model. The calculational burden of SOS programming in the DA estimation using the state-reduction model is rather small compared with using the full model. Simulation results show the proposed expanding interior algorithm is able to provide a tight estimation of DA of power systems with higher accuracy and lower time costs.

Increasing evidences suggest that the meth.ltransferase NSUN2 catalyzes 5-meth.lcytosine (m5C) modifications on viral RNAs, which are essential for the replication of various viruses. Despite the function of m5C deposition is well characterized, other potential roles of NSUN2 in regulating viral replication remain largely unknown. In this study, the m5C modified residues catalyzed by NSUN2 on enterovirus 71 (EV71) RNAs were mapped. NSUN2, along with m5C modifications, played multiple roles during the EV71 life cycle. Functional m5C modified nucleotides increased the translational efficiency and stability of EV71 RNAs. Additionally, NSUN2 was found to target the viral protein VP1 for binding and promote its stability by inhibiting the ubiquitination. Furthermore, both viral replication and pathogenicity in mice were largely attenuated when functional m5C residues were mutated. Taken together, this study characterizes distinct pathways mediated by NSUN2 in regulating EV71 replication, and highlights the importance of its catalyzed m5C modifications on EV71 RNAs for the viral replication and pathogenicity. © 2024 The Authors

Major volcanic eruptions(MVEs)have attracted increasing attention from the scientific *** studies have explored the climatic impact of MVEs over the past two ***,proxy-based reconstructions and climate model simulations indicate divergent responses of global and China’s regional climates to ***,we used multiple data from observations,reconstructions,simulations,and assimilations to summarize the historical facts of MVEs,the characteristics and mechanisms of their climatic impact,and directions for future *** reviewed volcanic datasets and determined intensive MVE periods;these periods corresponded to the years 530–700,1200‒1460,and 1600‒1840 *** tropical MVEs,a substantial cooling effect is observed throughout the globe and China on the interannual-interdecadal time scales but an inconsistent cooling magnitude is detected between reconstructions and *** the first summer after tropical MVEs,a decrease in global and monsoonal precipitation is *** reconstructions and simulations,an increased precipitation is seen for the Yangtze River Basin,wh.le large uncertainties in precipitation changes are present for other regions of *** drought can be induced by frequent eruptions and volcanism superimposed on low solar irradiation and internal *** affect climate directly through the radiative effect and indirectly by modulating internal variability,such as the El Niño‒Southern Oscillation(ENSO)and Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO).however,changes in the phase,amplitude,and periodicity of ENSO and AMO after MVEs and the associated mechanisms remain controversial,which could account for model-reconstruction ***,other internal variability,uncertainties in reconstruction methods and aerosol‒climate models,and climate background may also induce model-reconstruction *** gaps and directions for future research are also discussed.

We examine electron kinetic effects in broadband-laser-driven back-stimulated Raman scattering(BSRS)bursts using particle-in-cell *** bursts occur during the nonlinear stage,causing reflectivity spikes and generating large numbers of hot ***-duration simulations are performed to observe burst events,and a simplified model is developed to eliminate the interference of the broadband laser’s random intensity *** the simplified model,we isolate and characterize the spectrum of electron plasma *** spectrum changes from a sideband structure to a turbulence-like structure during the burst.A significant asymmetry in the spectrum is *** asymmetry is amplified and transferred to electron phase space by high-intensity broadband laser pulses,leading to violent vortex-merging and generation of hot *** proportion of hot electrons increases from 6.76%to 14.7%during a single violent burst *** demonstrate that kinetic effects profoundly influence the BSRS evolution driven by broadband lasers.

Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are generally toxic and harmful substances that can cause health and environmental *** removal of VOCs from polymers has become a key *** effective devolatilization to remove VOCs from high viscous fluids such as polymer is necessary and is of great *** this study,the devolatilization effect of a rotating packed bed(RPB)was studied by using polydimeth.lsiloxane as the viscous fluid and acetone as the *** devolatilization rate and liquid phase volume(Kla)have been *** results indicated that the optimum conditions were the high-gravity factor of 60,liquid flow rate of 10 l·h^(-1),and vacuum degree of 0.077 *** dimensionless correlation of Kla was established,and the deviations between predicted and experimental values were less than±28%.The high-gravity technology will result in lower mass transfer resistance in the devolatilization process,enhance the mass transfer process of acetone,and improve the removal effect of *** work provides a promising path for the removal of volatiles from polymers in combination with high-gravity *** can provide the basis for the application of RPB in viscous fluids.
