Effect of sliding speed on elevated-temperature wear behavior of AISI h13 steel

Elevated-temperature wear tests were performed on AISI h13 steel under 50 and 100 r/min at 400–600℃.Through examining the morphology,structure and composition of worn surfaces as well as the microhardness at subsurfaces,the wear mechanisms in various sliding conditions were explored.h13 steel exhibited totally different elevated-temperature wear behavior at two sliding speeds while the high sliding speed would seriously deteriorate its wear *** sliding at two sliding speeds,the wear rate of h13 steel decreased first and then rose with the increase in temperature and the wear rate reached the lowest value(lower than 1×10^(–6)mm^(3)/mm)at 500℃and 50 r/*** wear rate at 600℃was lower than that at 400℃for 50 r/min,but the wear rate at 600℃was higher than that at 400℃for 100 r/min(except for 50 N).At 50 r/min,the wear rate decreased first and then increased with the increase in ***,at 100 r/min,the wear rate monotonically increased with increasing load and reached 33×10^(–6)mm^(3)/mm at 600℃and 150 N,where severe wear *** the other sliding conditions,severe wear did not appear with wear rate lower than 5×10^(–6)mm^(3)/*** mild wear merely prevailed at 500℃and 50 r/min and oxidative wear appeared in the other sliding conditions except for 600℃and 150 N,where severe plastic extrusion wear *** effect of sliding speed on wear behavior was attributed to the changes of tribo-oxide *** elevated-temperature sliding,tribo-oxide particles were more readily retained to form protective tribo-oxide layers on worn surfaces at the lower sliding speed than at the higher sliding speed,so as to protect from wear.

A core–shell amidoxime electrospun nanofiber affinity membrane for rapid recovery Au(Ⅲ) from water

An affinity membrane was prepared by coaxial electrospinning and amidoxime(AONFA),and it was applied to selectively recovery Au(Ⅲ)from an aqueous *** static adsorption results showed that,when p h at 5,the maximum adsorption capacity of AONFA membrane for Au(Ⅲ)was 509.3 mg·g^(-1).AONFA membrane exhibit much higher affinity and selectivity towards Au(Ⅲ)than other metal *** membrane could be regenerated effectively by mixture solution of thiourea and hCl,and the desorption ratio reached almost 100%after 4 hours *** dead-end filtration results showed that,the membrane utilization efficiency and adsorption capacity can be improved by increasing the flow rate,while increasing the concentration shorted the breakthrough process and had little impact to adsorption *** can flexibly adjust the flow rate and concentration according to the situation to obtain the maximum utilization efficiency of the membrane in filtration *** dynamic adsorption capacity is higher than the static adsorption *** adsorption mechanism for Au(Ⅲ)is electrostatic adsorption and ***,AONFA membrane filtration was demonstrated to be a promising method for continuous recover Au(Ⅲ)from wastewater.

Evaluation of SIFOM-FVCOM system for high-fidelity simulation of small-scale coastal ocean flows

This paper evaluates the SIFOM-FVCOM system recently developed by the authors to simulate multiphysics coastal ocean flow phenomena, especially those at small scales. First, its formulation for buoyancy is examined with regard to solution accu- racy and computational efficiency. Then, the system is used to track particles in circulations in the Jamaica Bay, demonstrating that large-scale patterns of trajectories of fluid particles are sensitive to small-scales flows from which they are released. Finally, a simulation is presented to illustrate the SIFOM-FVCOM system＇s capability, which is beyond the reach of other existing models, to directly and simultaneously model large-scale storm surges as well as small-scale flow structures around bridge piers within the hudson River during the hurricane Sandy.

Li-O_(2) batteries gain widespread attention as a can didate for next-generati on energy storage devices due to their extraordinary theoretic specific *** semi-open structure of Li-O_(2) batteries causes many parasitic reactions,especially related to *** is a double-edged sword,which destroys Li anode and simultaneously triggers a solution-based pathway of the discharge *** this work,hexamethyldisilazane(hMDS)is introduced into the electrolyte of an aprotic Li-O_(2) *** has a strong ability to combine with a trace of water to gen erate a hydrophobic hexamethyldisiloxa ne(MM),which eliminates water from the electrolyte decomposition and then prevents the Li anode from producing the insulating LiOh with *** this case,the hydrophobic MM disperses in the ether-based electrolyte,forming a dispersion hydrophobic *** electrolyte can anchor water from the environment on the cathode side,which triggers a solution-based pathway and regulates the growth morphology of the discharge product and consequently increases the discharge *** with the Li-O_(2) battery without the hMDS,the hMDS-containing Li-O_(2) battery contributes an about 13-fold increase of cyclability(400 cycles,1800 h)in the extreme environment of saturated water *** work opens a new approach for directly operating aprotic Li-O_(2) batteries in ambient air.

Influences of residual stress and micro-deformation on microstructures and mechanical properties for Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si alloy produced by laser powder bed fusion

Laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)yields unique advantages during the fabrication of titanium *** the present work,Ti-6.5 Al-3.5 Mo-1.5 Zr-0.3 Si alloy specimens with excellent mechanical performances were fabricated by *** as-built specimens displayed relatively high strength and ductility under modest volume energy densities(VEDs),whereas they manifested high strength with low ductility under high *** investigate the key reason of this phenomenon,the specimens were designed with two VEDs ranges of 60 J/mm^(3) and 85 J/mm^(3).Special attention was paid to the influences of residual stress and micro-deformation on microstructures and mechanical properties for the first *** results indicated that the residual stresses and relative density of the 60 J/mm^(3) range specimens were higher than that of the 85 J/mm3 range *** multiplication and dislocation movement promoted by the residual stress were hindered by the initialα’phase grain boundary(prior-α’GB),leading to the formation ofα’metastable *** mean tensile strength and elongation of the 60 J/mm^(3) range specimens were 1248.1 MPa and 12.3%,respectively,whereas the corresponding values for the 85 J/mm^(3) range specimens were 1405.3 MPa,5.0%,*** deformation,the strength and ductility of the specimens were first improved by lamellar structures generated from prior-α’phases,and then effectively enhanced by the interaction between the{10–12}twins and ***,pores significantly reduced the ductility;hence,high VED specimens with large twins and numerous large pores increased the strength and reduce the ductility.

PREPARATION AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF POLYMERIC COMPLEXES CONTAINING 1,10-PhENANThROLINE

A series of polymeric complexes were prepared from Fe^2＋, Co^2＋ or Ni^2＋ and poly（Schiff base）（DAPcIPA）, which was obtained by polycondensation of 5,6-diamino-1,10-phenanthroline （DAP） with isophthalaldehyde （IPA）. The structures of the polymer and the polymeric complexes were characterized by IR, 1^h-NMR and elemental analysis. The magnetic behavior of these complexes was measured as a function of magnetic field strength （0-3.98 ~ 106 A/m） at 5 K and as a function of temperature （5-300 K） at a magnetic field strength of 2.39 × 10^6 A/re. Experimental results show that DAPcIPA-Ni^2＋, DAPcIPA-Co^2＋ are soft ferromagnets while DAPcIPA-Fe^2＋ exhibits features of an antiferromagnet.

ThERMAL STABILITY OF NON-EQUILIBRIUS MICROSTRUCTURE IN MICROALLOYED STEEL DURING REhEATING

Cooled in water after isothermal relaxation of deformed austenite for different times, an Nb-bearing microalloyed steel always exhibits synthetic microstructures, in which bainitic ferrite ,dominates. Dislocation configurations and distributions of strain induced precipitates inside bainitic ferrite of samples relaxed for different times were distinct. When compared with the austenite model steel, which maintained fcc structure even at room temperature, the strain induced precipitates were not found in the sample without relaxation whereas these were distributed outside dislocations in sample relaxed for 1000s. Most of the strain induced precipitates distribute along dislocations and pin dislocations in sample relaxed for appropriate time. After bainitic transformation, the dislocations formed in deformed austenite remain to be pinned by the precipitates. When these samples were reheated to and held at 650 or 700℃, the non-equilibrloas microstructures tended to evolve into equilibrioas ones. The sample relaxed for 60s displayed the highest thermo-stability, whereas microstructure evolution was the quickest in the sample relaxed for 1000s even though it was the softest prior to reheating. Dislocations inside laths got rid of pinning of precipitates, and their polygonization became the precursor to the evolution of microstructures during reheated and held, followed by gradual disappearance of lath boundaries caused by dislocation climbing. Finally, recrystallization occurred and polygonal ferrite appeared. By hardness measurement, it was found that softening is not a single process occurring during reheated, in which hardness fluctuates with time. There were two peaks in the hardness-time curve of each sample having undergone relaxation, while single peak occured in the curve of the sample not being relaxed. These results indicated that the thermo-stability of microstructures was determined by their history of formation to a considerable degree.

Stability level of tunnels that exist in an underground mine has a great influence on the safety,production and economic performance of *** of stability for soft-rock tunnels is an important task for deep coal mines located in high in situ stress *** the available information on stratigraphy,geological structures,in situ stress measurements and geo-mechanical properties of intact rock and discontinuity interfaces,a three-dimensional numerical model was built by using 3DEC software to simulate the stress conditions around a tunnel located under high in situ stress conditions in a coal rock mass in *** were conducted for several tunnel shapes and rock support *** obtained for the distribution of failure zones,and stress and displacement felds around the tunnel were compared to select the best tunnel shape and support pattern to achieve the optimum stability conditions.
