Nonlinear Magnetoimpedance Effect in FeCoNi Ferromagnetic Tubes

The very high (up to 820% of the magnetoimpedance ratio) and sensitive nonlinear giant magnetoimpedance effect has been studied in the FeCo1Ni magnetic tubes electroplated onto Cu(3%)Be nonmagnetic wirefor frequencies from 1-10Mhz. Special annealing was carried out in order to induce the magnetic anisotropy. The high harmonic generation was observed and the harmonics show larger variations with the external magnetic field than the fundamental frequency. The super high sensitivity of the harmonics is promising as regards the increase of the sensitivity of magnetoimpedance sensors.

Thin magnetic Fe layers in thickness of 10–240 nm were deposited onto a wheel surface of CoFeMoSiB amorphous ribbons to check our concept of a new type of heterogeneous magnetoimpedance materials formed by two different magnetic parts. The presence of an additional iron layer modifies the magnetoimpedance response of the composite material and leads to increase of the magnetoimpedance ratio from 330 to 345% at a frequency of 3.5 Mhz. Two possible mechanisms are discussed for explanation to the observed behaviour. Modification of the surface properties of the amorphous ribbons may have certain potential for technological applications.

Loco-regional recurrences and distant metastases represent the main cause of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(hNSCC) mortality. The overexpression of chemokine receptor 4(CXCR4) in hNSCC primary tumors associates with higher risk of developing loco-regional recurrences and distant metastases, thus making CXCR4 an ideal entry pathway for targeted drug delivery. In this context, our group has generated the self-assembling protein nanocarrier T22-GFP-h6, displaying multiple T22 peptidic ligands that specifically target CXCR4. This study aimed to validate T22-GFP-h6 as a suitable nanocarrier to selectively deliver cytotoxic agents to CXCR4^(+)tumors in a hNSCC model. here we demonstrate that T22-GFP-h6 selectively internalizes in CXCR4^(+)hNSCC cells, achieving a high accumulation in CXCR4^(+)tumors in vivo, while showing negligible nanocarrier distribution in non-tumor bearing organs. Moreover, this T22-empowered nanocarrier can incorporate bacterial toxin domains to generate therapeutic nanotoxins that induce cell death in CXCR4-overexpressing tumors in the absence of histological alterations in normal organs. Altogether, these results show the potential use of this T22-empowered nanocarrier platform to incorporate polypeptidic domains of choice to selectively eliminate CXCR4^(+)cells in hNSCC. Remarkably, to our knowledge, this is the first study testing targeted proteinonly nanoparticles in this cancer type, which may represent a novel treatment approach for hNSCC patients.

Aromaticity,in general,can promote a given reaction by stabilizing a transition state or a product via a mobility ofπelectrons in a cyclic ***,such a promotion could be also achieved by destabilizing an antiaromatic ***,both aromaticity and transition states cannot be directly measured in ***,computational chemistry has been becoming a key tool to understand the aromaticity-driven reaction *** this review,we will analyze the relationship between aromaticity and reaction mechanism to highlight the importance of density functional theory calculations and present it according to an approach via either aromatizing a transition state/product or destabilizing a reactant by ***,we will start with a particularly challenging example of dinitrogen activation followed by other small-molecule activation,Csingle bondF bond activation,rearrangement,as well as metathesis *** addition,antiaromaticity-promoted dihydrogen activation,CO_(2)capture,and oxygen reduction reactions will be also briefly ***,caution must be cast as the magnitude of the aromaticity in the transition states is not particularly high in most ***,a proof of an adequate electron delocalization rather than a complete ring current is recommended to support the relatively weak aromaticity in these transition states.

Objective: Nonanoic acid (NA) is one of a series of straight-chain aliphatic alcohols, aldehydes, acids and their derivatives with a well-documented history of use as a synthetic flavoring in human food. As part of a safety evaluation of NA for use as a flavoring in animal feed, an experiment was conducted to evaluate the ability of turkeys to tolerate NA at levels relevant to practical feeding practices. Materials and Methods: A total of 594-day-old BUT Premium turkeys (300 males and 294 females) were allocated at random to 40 floor pens containing either 15 males or 13 to 15 females. Poults were fed one of 4 treatment diets in crumble (0 to 14 days) or pellet (15 to 59 days) form containing 0 (control), 100, 300 or 1000 mg NA/kg complete feed for 59 days. General health and performance were monitored for the duration of the study. At days 57 and 59 of age, blood samples were taken and birds were sacrificed and necropsied for histopathological examination of the digestive tract. Significant differences were considered at P ≤ 0.05 and near-significant trends at P ≤ 0.10. <

Ca2＋-dependent oxidation of cytosolic NADPh is mediated by NDB1, which is an external type II NADPhdehydrogenase in the plant mitochondrial electron transport chain. Using RNA interference, the NDB1 transcript wassuppressed by 80% in Arabidopsis thaliana plants, and external Ca2＋-dependent NADPh dehydrogenase activity becameundetectable in isolated mitochondria. This was linked to a decreased level of NADP＋ in rosettes of the transgenic ***-grown transgenic seedlings displayed decreased growth specifically on glucose, and respiratory metabolism of 14C-glucose was increased. On soil, NDBl-suppressing plants had a decreased vegetative biomass, but leaf maximumquantum efficiency of photosystem Ⅱ and CO2 assimilation rates, as well as total respiration, were similar to the wild-type. The in vivo alternative oxidase activity and capacity were also similar in all genotypes. Metabolic profiling revealeddecreased levels of sugars, citric acid cycle intermediates, and amino acids in the transgenic lines. The NDBl-suppressioninduced transcriptomic changes associated with protein synthesis and glucosinolate and jasmonate metabolism. Thetranscriptomic changes also overlapped with changes observed in a mutant lacking ABAINSENSITIVE4 and in A. thalianaoverexpressing stress tolerance genes from rice. The results thus indicate that A. thaliana NDB1 modulates NADP（h）reduction levels, which in turn affect central metabolism and growth, and interact with defense signaling.

AIM:To investigate a possible genetic influence of claudin(CLDN)1,CLDN2 and CLDN4 in the etiology of inflammatory bowel ***:Allelic association between genetic regions of CLDN1,CLDN2 or CLDN4 and patients with inflammatory bowel disease,Crohn's disease(CD)or ulcerative colitis were investigated using both a casecontrol study approach(one case randomly selected from each of 191 Swedish inflammatory bowel disease families and 333 controls)and a family-based study(463 non-Swedish European inflammatory bowel disease-families).A nonsynonymous coding single nucleotide polymorphism in MORC4,located on the same linkage block as CLDN2,was investigated for association,as were two novel CLDN2 single nucleotide polymorphism markers,identified by ***:A single nucleotide polymorphism marker(rs12014762)located in the genetic region of CLDN2 was significantly associated to CD(case-control allelic OR = 1.98,95%CI:1.17-3.35,P = 0.007).MORC4 was present on the same linkage block as this CD *** the case-control approach,a significant association(case control allelic OR = 1.61,95%CI:1.08-2.41,P = 0.018)was found between CD and a nonsynonymous coding single nucleotide polymorphism(rs6622126)in *** association between the CLDN2 marker and CD was not replicated in the familybased *** colitis was not associated to any of the single nucleotide polymorphism ***:These findings suggest that a variant of the CLDN2-MORC4 region predisposes to CD in a Swedish population.
