Delamination is a prevalent type of damage in composite laminate structures. Its accumulation degrades structural performance and threatens the safety and integrity of aircraft. This study presents a method for the quantitative identification of delamination identification in composite materials, leveraging distributed optical fiber sensors and a model updating approach. Initially, a numerical analysis is performed to establish a parameterized finite element model of the composite plate. Then, this model subsequently generates a database of strain responses corresponding to damage of varying sizes and locations. The radial basis function neural network surrogate model is then constructed based on the numerical simulation results and strain responses captured from the distributed fiber optic sensors. Finally, a multi-island genetic algorithm is employed for global optimization to identify the size and location of the damage. The efficacy of the proposed method is validated through numerical examples and experiment studies, examining the correlations between damage location, damage size, and strain responses. The findings confirm that the model updating technique, in conjunction with distributed fiber optic sensors, can precisely identify delamination in composite structures. © 2024 The Authors. The harmonics that appear in the squirrel cage asynchronous machine have been discussed in great detail in the literature for a long time. however, the systematization of the phenomenon is still pending, so we made an attempt to fill this gap in the previous parts of our study by elaborating formulas for calculation of parasitic torques. It was a general demand among those who work in this field towards the author to verify his formulas with measurements. In the literature, it seems,only one detailed, purposeful series of measurements has been published so far, the purpose of which was to investigate the effect of the number of rotor slots on the torque-speed characteristic curve of the machine. The main goal of this study is to verify the correctness of the formulas by comparing them with the referred series of measurements. relying on this, the expected synchronous parasitic torques were developed for the frequently used rotor slot numbers-as a design guide for the ***, together with our complete table for radial magnetic pull published in our previous work, the designer has all the principles, data and formulas available for the right number of rotor slots for his given machine and for the drive system. This brings this series of papers to an end.

Non-traditional lignocellulosic materials are a significant resource for producing high-value products, including nanocellulose. This work studied the nanocellulose obtention from chemical pulps of the two fast-growing bamboo species, guadua trinii , and guadua angustifolia . Chemical pulps were produced by soda-anthraquinone (S) pulping from both autohydrolysis-pretreated (h) and unpretreated bamboo chips. Autohydrolysis-pretreated (ShP) and unpretreated soda-anthraquinone (AQ) (SP) pulps were characterized by yield, Kappa number, alpha, beta, and gamma cellulose, degree of polymerization, water retention value, and crystallinity. The nanocellulose was produced by a sequential chemical oxidation treatment (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl, TEMPO reagent) and mechanical nanofibrillation. Nanocellulose was characterized by carboxylic group content and viscosity. The results revealed that autohydrolysis pretreatment resulted in a higher hemicelluloses extraction in g. angustifolia . In contrast, the pulping yield of unpretreated samples was higher for g. trinii , and the soda-AQ pulps from this species exhibited better delignification than the autohydrolysis-pretreated pulps. The crystallinity index values of the obtained pulps were high (>80%), and the alpha-cellulose contents were similar. The viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions were higher for the nanocellulose solutions obtained from the unpretreated soda-AQ pulps. Besides, nanocellulose from g. trinii unpretreated soda-AQ pulps had a higher rate of carboxylic groups. The results of this work are significant in assessing the potential of both bamboo species as a source of high-value products within the biorefinery framework because the viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions depend on the size and shape of nanofibrils. It has significant importance for industrial unit operations and potential applications.

Developing a biomaterial for wound healing applications is still a ***,dysprosium oxide(Dy_(2)O_(3)),aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3)),and graphene oxide(gO)were embedded in cast films based on polycaprolactone(PCL)to be examined for wound dressing *** techniques were used to characterize the fabricated films including X-ray diffraction(XrD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIr),raman,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),besides their biological *** thermogravimetric analysis(TgA)exhibits high thermal stability as the scaffold weight decreases slightly to 98.6%after raising the temperature from room temperature to 280℃.The cell viability was investigated and it is shown that the viable cells grow up to approximately 93%at 75μg/***,the cell attachment shows excellent behavior as the cells attach on most of the surface of the modified PCL which shows high biocompatibility.

While we eagerly anticipate SMILE’s(Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer)unprecedented X-ray observations of the Earth’s magnetosheath and the initiation of a new era of magnetospheric research,it seems appropriate to look ahead to the abilities of the next generation of astrophysics *** these,the Line Emission Mapper(LEM),a large aperture micro-calorimeter based mission,is currently planned to be able to observe the magnetosheath at high spectral resolution(~2 eV).With a field of view of~30′,LEM will allow higher spatial resolution and higher cadence measurement of the motion of a very small portion of the magnetopause over relatively short periods of time(multiple hours),complementing SMILE’s global ***’s strength is its spectral *** will be able to measure the abundance of a broad range of elements and ionization states,many of which are inaccessible to current in situ instruments,and will be able to separate the emission from the magnetosheath from the emission from the cosmic X-ray background using the difference in their relative velocities.

●AIM:To assess the necessity of neuroimaging in patients with neurological or atypical findings of normal tension glaucoma(NTg)who do not exhibit typical glaucoma manifestations.●METhODS:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 90 atypical NTg patients who underwent cranial magnetic resonance imaging(MrI)due to atypical *** demographic characteristics,clinical parameters,and radiological findings were recorded.●rESULTS:Among the patients,66.7%had abnormal radiology results,with the most common findings being gliosis(34.4%),sequelae of cerebrovascular events and vascular malformations(14.4%),and benign intracranial mass lesions(11%).Non-glaucomatous visual field defects were more frequently observed in patients with abnormal neuroimaging ***,there were no significant differences in intraocular pressure,optic disc parameters,retinal nerve fiber layer thickness,and visual field indices between patients with normal and abnormal radiological *** mean age of the patients was ***,there was a significant age difference,with the abnormal radiology group having a higher median age(P=0.021).●CONCLUSION:The study highlights the importance of cranial imaging in older NTg patients to detect underlying pathologies and prevent *** suggests that neuroimaging may be warranted in NTg patients with atypical visual field defects incompatible with ***,routine neuroimaging in all NTg patients without classic neurological signs may not be necessary.

The Soft X-ray Imager(SXI)is part of the scientific payload of the Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)*** is a joint science mission between the European Space Agency(ESA)and the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the SMILE *** is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the Solar Wind Charge eXchange(SWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the SXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of SMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the UK,Europe,China and the United States.
