Background and Purpose:This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of aggres sive mechanical clot disruption (AMCD) in acute stroke patients with persisting middle cerebral artery(MCA) or internal carotid artery (ICA) occlusion after thr ombolytic therapy. Methods:Retrospective case series were used from a prospecti vely collected stroke database on consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients tre ated with intra-arterial(IA) thrombolytics and mechanical clot disruption durin g a 5-year interval. Thrombolytic dosage, endovascular techniques,immediate and final recanalization rates, symptomatic hemorrhage,mortality, and outcome were determined. Results:Thirty-two patients received AMCD. Median baseline Nationa l Institutes of health Stroke Scale (NIhSS) score was 18, and median time to ini tiation of IA treatment was 261 minutes from symptom onset. ICA occlusion was no ted in 16 patients and MCA occlusion in 16 patients: 22 received combined IV/ IA thrombolytics, 3 received IV thrombolytics, 6 receivedIA thrombolytics, and 1 patient received no thrombolytics before AMCD. No immediate periprocedural co mplications were noted. Immediate recanalization was achieved in 38%(50%MCA, 2 5%ICA) and final recanalization in 75%(88%MCA,63%ICA) of patients. Favorable outcome occurred in 19(59%) patients, symptomatic cerebral hemorrhage in 3 (9. 4%)patients, and mortality in 4 (12.5%) patients. Conclusion:AMCD can be perf ormed safely with comparable intracerebral hemorrhage and mortality rates to oth er IA therapies even after use of intravenous thrombolytics in selected patients . Early deployment of this technique leads to immediate recanalization in one th ird of patients. AMCD may potentially shorten the time to flow restoration and i mprove overall recanalization rates achieved with IA therapy.

Pazopanib is the first and only tyrosine kinase inhibitor currently approved for the treatment of multiple histological subtypes of soft tissue sarcoma(STS).Initially developed as a small molecule inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors,preclinical work indicates that pazopanib exerts an anticancer effect through the inhibition of both angiogenic and oncogenic signaling *** the establishment of optimal dosing and safety profiles in early phase studies and approval for the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma,pazopanib was investigated in STS.A landmark phase iii randomized study demonstrated improved progression-free survival with pazopanib compared to that with placebo in pretreated patients with STS of various *** efficacy of pazopanib in specific STS subtypes has been further described in real-world-based case series in both mixed and subtype-specific STS *** present,there are no clinically validated predictive biomarkers for use in selecting patients with advanced STS for pazopanib therapy,limiting the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the *** this review,we summarize the preclinical and clinical data for pazopanib,outline the evidence base for its effect in STS and explore reported studies that have investigated putative biomarkers.

Future networks communication scenarios by the 2030s will include notable applications are three-dimensional(3D)calls,haptics communications,unmanned mobility,tele-operated driving,bio-internet of things,and the Nanointernet of *** the current scenario in which megahertz bandwidth are sufficient to drive the audio and video components of user applications,the future networks of the 2030s will require bandwidths in several gigahertzes(Ghz)(from tens of gigahertz to 1 terahertz[Thz])to perform *** on the current radio frequency allocation chart,it is not possible to obtain such a wide contiguous radio spectrum below 90 Ghz(0.09 Thz).Interestingly,these contiguous blocks of radio spectrum are readily available in the higher electromagnetic spectrum,specifically in the Terahertz(Thz)frequency *** major contribution of this study is discussing the substantial issues and key features of Thz waves,which include(i)key features and significance of Thz frequency;(ii)recent regulatory;(iii)the most promising applications;and(iv)possible open research *** research topics were deeply investigated with the aim of providing a specific,synopsis,and encompassing ***,this article will be as a catalyst towards exploring new frontiers for future networks of the 2030s.

Review of methods for predicting in situ volume change movementof expansive soil over time

The soil movement information over time is required for the design of foundations placed in expansive soils. This information is also helpful for the assessment of pre-wetting and controlled wetting mitigation alternatives for expansive soils. Several researchers during the past fifteen years have proposed different methods for the prediction of the soil movements over time. The available methods can be categorized into(i) consolidation theory-based methods,(ii) water content-based methods, and(iii) suction-based methods. In this paper, a state-of-the-art of the prediction methods is succinctly summarized. The methods are critically reviewed in terms of their predictive capacity along with their strengths and limitations. The review highlights the need for prediction methods that are conceptually simple yet efficient for use in conventional engineering practice for different types of expansive soils.

Adsorption behavior of Sb(Ⅲ) in single and binary Sb(Ⅲ)-Fe(Ⅱ) systems on cationic ion exchange resin: Adsorption equilibrium, kinetic and thermodynamic aspects

The present study dealt with the mechanism of competitive adsorption of Sb(Ⅲ)and Fe(Ⅱ)ions from a copper-containing aqueous solution on Purolite S957,a commercially available cationic ion-exchange *** were conducted using aqueous copper sulfate solutions containing either single or conjoint ions,using both sedentary and batch adsorption techniques to ascertain the sensitivity of the adsorption process to variation in p h,mass of resin,contact time,and temperature as well as establishing the optimal range of variables for maximum ion *** data from single ion adsorption tests were fitted by non-linear regression techniques to henry,Langmuir,Freundlich,Temkin,and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm *** isotherm for Sb(Ⅲ)and Freundlich and henry models for Fe(Ⅱ)solutions best express the adsorption equilibrium data;while for binary ion electrolytes,the extended Freundlich model fitted the data *** kinetic model adequately describing adsorption was shown to be the pseudo-first-order,underscoring the dominant role of physical adsorption playing in the *** parameters for the adsorption process reveal differences in the Sb(Ⅲ)adsorption mechanism from single ion and Sb(Ⅲ)-Fe(Ⅱ)containing *** adsorption of Sb(Ⅲ)alone is endothermic,whereas the process becomes exothermic in the Sb(Ⅲ)-Fe(Ⅱ)system.

Corrosion and cavitation erosion resistance enhancement of cast Ni–Al bronze by laser surface melting

Laser surface melting (LSM) was applied on a cast Ni–Al bronze (NAB), which was a crucial material for marine ship propellers. A 720 μm-thick LSM layer with fine equiaxed and dendritic microstructures was obtained. After immersion for 30 days, the corrosion rate of cast NAB was reduced by 25% after LSM. Preferential corrosion occurred and deep corrosion pits appeared at α + κiii microstructure for the cast NAB. LSM NAB underwent general corrosion, and a much more protective film formed on the surface because of the homogenized microstructure. The mass loss of the cast NAB was approximately 2.1 times larger than that of LSM NAB after cavitation erosion (CE) in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution for 5 h. For the two materials, the mechanical impact effect was dominantly responsible for CE damage. Therefore, the improved hardness and homogenized microstructure contributed to the improved CE resistance of LSM NAB. CE destructed the film, shifted the open circuit potential toward a more negative value, and raised the current density by an order of magnitude. Corrosion at the cast eutectoid microstructure and the dendrites of LSM NAB facilitates the degradation under the cavitation attack. CE-corrosion synergy was largely caused by corrosion-enhanced-CE.

Is aggregated oviposition by the blow flies Lucilia sericata and Phormia regina （Diptera： Calliphoridae） really pheromone-mediated？

When female blow flies Lucilia sericata and Phormia regina （Diptera： Cal- liphoridae） oviposit in aggregations on carrion, even-aged larval offspring reportedly de- velop faster, and fewer are parasitized or preyed upon. The benefits of aggregated ovipo- sition equally affect con- and heterospecific larvae sharing a resource. The benefits imply that female blow flies engage in coordinated, pheromone-mediated oviposition behavior. Yet, repeated attempts to identify oviposition pheromones have failed invoking doubt that they exist. Simply by regurgitating and feeding on carrion, flies may produce attractive semiochemicals. If flies were to aggregate in response to feeding flies rather than oviposit- ing flies, then the semiochemical cue（s） may be associated with the salivary gland. Working with L. sericata and P.. regina and using liver as a surrogate oviposition medium, we test the hypotheses, and present data in their support, that （i） gravid or nongravid females ovipositing and/or feeding on liver enhance its attractiveness to gravid and nongravid fe- males; （ii） females respond to semiochemicals from feeding heterospecific females; （iii） females respond equally well to semiochemicals from feeding con- and heterospecific females; （iv） macerated head tissues of females applied to liver enhance its attractiveness; and （v） females in direct contact with and feeding on liver, but not when next to yet physically separated from liver, enhance attraction of flies. We conclude that oviposition site-seeking females do not respond to an oviposition pheromone. Instead, they appear to coopt semiochemicals associated with feeding flies as resource indicators, taking chances that resources are suitable for oviposition, and that ovipositing flies are present.

Physical Properties of Ⅲ-Antiminodes—a First Principles Study

A comprehensive first principles study of iii-Antimonide binary compounds is hardly found in literature. We report a broad study of structural and electronic properties of boron antimonide （BSb）, aluminium antimonide （AlSb）, gallium antimonide （GaSb） and indium antimonide （InSb） in zineblende phase based on density functional theory （DFT）. Our calculations are based on Full-PotentiM Lineaxized Augmented Plane wave plus local orbitals （FP- L（APWq-lo）） method. Different forms of exchange-correlation energy functional and corresponding potential are employed for structural and electronic properties. Our computed results for lattice parameters, bulk moduli, their pressure derivatives, and cohesive energy are consistent with the available experimental data. Boron antimonide is found to be the hardest compound of this group. For band structure calculations, in addition to LDA and GGA, we used GGA-EV, an approximation employed by Engel and Vosko. The band gap results with GGA-EV are of significant improvement over the earlier work.
