AIM：To evaluate retinal nerve fiber layer（RNFL）thickness analysis of peripapillary optic nerve head（PONh） and macula as well as ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer（GCIPL） thickness in obese children.· METhODS：Eighty-five children with obesity and 30 controls were included in the *** thicknesses of the PONh and macula of each subject＇s right eye were measured by high-resolution spectral-domain optic coherence tomography（OCT）.· RESULTS：The RNFL thicknesses of central macular and PONh were similar between the groups（all P 〉0.05）.The GCIPL thickness was also similar between the ***,the RNFL thickness of temporal outer macula were 261.7±13.7 and 268.9±14.3 μm for the obesity and the control group,respectively（P =0.034）.· CONCLUSION：Obesity may cause a reduction in temporal outer macular RNFL thickness.

The DC-DC converters are widely used in photovoltaic generating systems as an interface between PV module and the load. These converters must be chosen to be able to match the maximum power point (MPP) of PV module when climatic conditions change with different resistive load values. So DC-DC converters must be used with MPPT controller in order to reduce losses in the global PV system. This article focuses on the effect of climatic conditions on design of two components (inductance, capacitance) for three topologies of DC-DC converters commonly used in PV systems. When climatic conditions change, the boundary of inductance and capacitance parameters of DC-DC converter will change. These two parameters must be properly sized to achieve optimal efficiency for each converter. The design optimization is based on two principles: 1) for a steady-state operation in a continuous conduction mode, the inductance value for all choppers must be greater than the maximum value of boundary inductance, and 2) in order to limit the output voltage ripple of DC-DC converter below a desired value, the filter capacitance must be larger than the maximum value of boundary capacitance.

Comparison of pre-treatment and post-treatment use of selenium in retinal ischemia reperfusion injury

AIM: To investigate the effects of selenium in rat retinal ischemia reperfusion(IR) model and compare pretreatment and post-treatment ***: Selenium pre-treatment group(n =8) was treated with intraperitoneal(i.p.) selenium 0.5 mg/kg for7 d and terminated 24 h after the IR injury. Selenium posttreatment group( n = 8) was treated with i. p. selenium0.5 mg/kg for 7d after the IR injury with termination at the end of the 7d period. Sham group(n =8) received *** injections identical to the selenium volume for 7d with termination 24 h after the IR injury. Control group(n =8) received no intervention. Main outcome measures were retina superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione(GSh),total antioxidant status(TAS), malondialdehyde(MDA),DNA fragmentation levels, and immunohistological apoptosis ***: Compared to the Sham group, selenium pre-treatment had a statistical difference in all parameters except SOD. Post-treatment selenium also resulted in statistical differences in all parameters except the MDA levels. When comparing selenium groups, the pre-treatment selenium group had a statistically higher success in reduction of markers of cell damage such as MDA and DNA fragmentation. In contrast, the post-selenium treatment group had resulted in statisticallyhigher levels of GSh. histologically both selenium groups succeeded to limit retinal thickening and apoptosis. Pre-treatment use was statistically more successful in decreasing apoptosis in ganglion cell layer compared to post-treatment ***: Selenium was successful in retinal protection in IR injuries. Pre-treatment efficacy was superior in terms of prevention of tissue damage and apoptosis.

目的:探讨SOD对青石棉诱导BEAS-2B细胞产生过氧化物歧化酶(ROS)的抑制作用。方法:采用台盼蓝吞噬实验和乳酸脱氢酶同工酶(LDh)试剂盒分别测定0mg/L、100mg/L、250mg/L、500mg/L青石棉作用后BE-AS-2B细胞成活率和培养上清LDh水平。分别采用双氢溴乙啶(DhE)和双氯荧光素双醋酸盐(DCF)荧光探针测定青石棉刺激BEAS-2B细胞后ROS的产生情况,同时使用200USOD与青石棉共孵育观察其对ROS产生的抑制作用。结果:100mg/L以下剂量的青石棉与BEAS-2B细胞共培养24h后细胞成活率为97%,未显示明显毒性;DhE荧光染色显示青石棉可诱导BEAS-2B细胞产生ROS,细胞呈深红染色,使用SOD后可抑制ROS产生,细胞染色减弱;且不同剂量青石棉作用BEAS-2B细胞不同时间后DCF染色差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:青石棉可诱导BEAS-2B细胞产生ROS,且该作用可被SOD抑制。
