The main objective of this study is to investigate the buckling analysis of CCSs reinforced by CnTs subjected to combined loading of hydrostatic pressure and axial compression resting on the twoparameter elastic foundation(T-P-EF).It is one of the first attempts to derive the governing equations of the CCSs reinforced with CnTs,based on a generalized first-order shear deformation shell theory(FSDST)which includes shell-foundation *** adopting the extended mixing rule,the effective material properties of CCSs reinforced by CnTs with linear distributions are approximated by introducing some efficiency *** carbon nanotube distribution in the matrix,*** distribution(U)and V and X-types linear distribution are taken into *** stability equations are solved by using the Galerkin procedure to determine the combined buckling loads(CBLs)of the structure selected *** numerical illustrations cover CBLs characteristics of CCSs reinforced by CnTs in the presence of the ***,a parametric study is carried out to study the influences of the foundation parameters,the volume fraction of carbon nanotubes and the types of reinforcement on the CBLs.

Ag2S nano dots have already bee n dem onstrated as promisi ng n ear-i nfrared (nIR-II, 1.0-1.45 pm) emitting nan oprobes with low toxicity, high penetration and high resolution for in vivo imaging of, for example, tumors and vasculature. In this work, we have systematically investigated the pote ntial applicati on of function alized Ag2S nano dots for accurate imaging of damaged myocardium tissues after a myocardial in farction in duced by either partial or global ischemia. Ag2S nano dots surface-function alized with the an giote nsin II peptide (ATI I) have show n over 10-fold enhanced binding efficiency to damaged tissues than non-specifically (PEG) functionalized Ag2S nanodots due to their interaction with the upregulated angiotensin II receptor type I (AT1R). It is demonstrated how the nIR-II images generated by ATII-functionalized Ag2S nanodots contain valuable information about the location and extension of damaged tissue in the myocardium allowing for a proper identification of the occluded artery as well as an in direct evaluati on of the damage level. The pote ntial applicati on of Ag2S nano dots in the n ear future for in vivo imaging of myocardial infarction was also corroborated by performing proof of concept whole body imaging experiments.

Watershed-based Image Segmentation with Region Merging and Edge Detection

The clustering technique is used to examine each pixel in the image which assigned to one of the clusters depending on the minimum distance to obtain primary classified image into different intensity regions. A watershed transformation technique is then employes. This includes: gradient of the classified image, dividing the image into markers, checking the Marker Image to see if it has zero points (watershed lines). The watershed lines are then deleted in the Marker Image created by watershed algorithm. A Region Adjacency Graph (RAG) and Region Adjacency Boundary (RAB) are created between two regions from Marker Image. Finally region merging is done according to region average intensity and two edge strengths (T1, T2). The approach of the authors is tested on remote sensing and brain MR medical images. The final segmentation result is one closed boundary per actual region in the image.

A process for purifying aqueous solutions containing heavy and toxic metals such as chromium（Cr） has been investigated. One of the extremely harmful pollutants in rivers and seawater is the heavy metal ions due to their direct impacts on human, animals and plants are hexavalent Cr（Ⅵ）. Consequently, highly sensitive sensor to detect Cr is essential. Surface plasmon resonance（SPR） technique has attracted huge research interest in detecting heavy metals specifically. In this study, three types of prism-based SPR sensor, gold（Au）/silver（Ag）, Au/polyaniline（PAnI） and Au/titanium dioxide（TiO2） nanostructured films, are investigated as potential sensing material to detect the presence of Cr（Ⅵ） ions in water. The base Au layer with thickness of 48.3 nm is deposited on a glass slide for all sensors. For Au/Ag, Au/PAnI nanofibers and Au/TiO2sensor films, the Cr（Ⅵ） concentration is varied from 1 ppm to 15 ppm with sensitivity of 0.270 °ppm-1, 0.082 °ppm-1and 0.039 °ppm-1, respectively. Based on these results, the Au/PAnI nanofibers are the most sensitive to Cr（Ⅵ） among the tested sensing materials.

In October 2018,Porterbrook and the University of Birmingham announced the hydroFLEX project,to demonstrate a hydrogen-hybrid modified train atRail Live *** concept of modifying a Class 319 Electric Multiple Unit was developed,with equipment including a fuel cell stack,traction battery,24 V control system and hydrogen storage elements to be mounted inside one of the *** was followed by procurement of a fuel cell stack,traction batteries,and control equipment,which was then installed inside the train,being fixed to the seat *** substantial change from the concept was the provision of considerably more hydrogen storage than the minimum necessary,providing the train with more potential to be further modified to allow for higher speed mainline *** the Rail Live exhibition where hydroFLEX was demonstrated,numerous modifications were performed to increase the reliability and power of the hydroFLEX train,primarily concerned with modifying the base train logic,with the aim of a successfulmainline *** this effort was a multitude of documentation concerning safety,operations,and approvals to gain approvals from the relevant approvals *** project demonstrated the feasibility of using hydrogen fuel cells as an autonomous fuel for railway propulsion systems,which has the potential for full decarbonisation.

Collaborative work on increasingly complex hydroclimatic investigations often crosses disciplinary boundaries. Elements of scientific inquiry, such as data or the results of analyses can become objectified, or capable of being adopted and/or adapted by users from multiple disciplinary realms. These objects often provide a bridge for collaborative endeavors, or are used as tools by individuals pursuing multi-disciplinary work. Boundary object terminology was first formalized and applied by social scientists. however, few examples of the application of this useful framework are found in the hydrologic literature. The construct is applied here to identify and discuss how common researcb products and processes are used both internally and externally through providing examples from a project examining the historical and paleo proxy-based hydroclimatology of a headwaters region of Mongolia. The boundary object concept is valuable to consider when conducting and critiquing basic research, collaborating across multiple disciplinary teams as when studying climate change issues, as an individual researcher working in a cross boundary sense using methods from differing disciplines to answer questions, and/or when one group adapts the work of another to their own research problems or interpretive needs, as occurred with selected products of this project.
