Batch.adsorption studies were undertaken to assess th. suitability of alum.nium.titanate （AT） and bism.th.alum.nate （BA） to rem.ve fluoride ions from.water. Th. effect of ph. dose of adsorbent, contact tim., initial concentration, co-ions and tem.erature on fluoride rem.val efficiency were studied. Th. am.unts of fluoride ions adsorbed, at 30°C from.4 m./L of fluoride ion solution, by AT and BA were 0.85 and 1.55 m./g, respectively. Th. experim.ntal data fitted well to th. Freundlich.and Langm.ir isoth.rm.. Th.rm.dynam.c param.ters such.as △h., △S 0 and △G0 indicated th.t th. rem.val of fluoride ions by AT was exoth.rm.c and non-spontaneous wh.le th.t by BA was endoth.rm.c and spontaneous. Fourier transform.infrared （FT-ir） analysis and X-ray diffraction （XRD） patterns of th. adsorbent before and after adsorption indicated th.t fluoride ions were ch.m.sorbed by th.se adsorbents.

Th. polycrystalline spinel oxides NiX?Co1-X?Fe2O4 with.com.osition x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 were prepared by conventional solid state ceram.c sintering tech.ique in air at 1300°C. X-ray diffraction experim.nts were carried out on all th. sam.les at room.tem.erature in order to ch.racterize th. m.terials. X-ray diffraction patterns sh.wed sh.rp peaks indicating th. form.tion of single ph.se cubic spinel structure. Th. neutron diffraction experim.nts were perform.d on all sam.les at room.tem.erature, with.an incident m.noch.om.tic neutron beam.of wavelength.λ = 1.5656 Å. Th. experim.ntal neutron diffraction data were analyzed using th. com.uter program.FullProf in th. Reitveld m.th.d. Reitveld refinem.nt of th. neutron diffraction data reveals th.t th. sam.les possess cubic sym.etry corresponding to th. space group F d-3m. Cation distribution between th. two sublattices of th. spinel structure h.s been found from.th. analysis of th. neutron diffraction data. Lattice param.ters, oxygen position param.ters, and overall tem.erature factors h.ve also been determ.ned from.th. analysis of neutron diffraction data. Th. lattice param.ter decreases and oxygen position param.ter increases with.increasing Ni content in th. system. Sublattices and net m.gnetic m.m.nts h.ve been determ.ned from.th. refinem.nt of neutron diffraction data. Th. m.gnetic structure at room.tem.erature was found to be ferrim.gnetic for all th. sam.les.

Th. present work is a com.reh.nsive of drinking water quality. Eleven groundwater sam.les were taken from.various rural regions of Egypt, th. groundwater sam.les were investigated for ch.m.cal, radiom.tric and h.avy m.tals analyses, th. m.jor cations including;sodium.( ), potassium.( ), calcium.( ) and m.gnesium.( ) ions species, th. m.jor anions of ch.oride ( ), sulph.te ( ), nitrite ( ), ph.sph.te ( ). Radiom.tric analyses in water expressed as th. gross alph. and beta activity concentrations, h.avy m.tals analyses including arsenic ( ), lead ( ), cobalt ( ), m.nganese ( ), iron ( ) and cadm.um.( ) ions. Th. groundwater sam.les were found to contain h.gh.concentrations of h.avy m.tals th.n th. lim.ted values of th. world h.alth.organization (Wh.). h.avy m.tals speciation were perform.d using m.nteqA2 geoch.m.cal code. A m.dified exch.nge resin was prepared by polym.rization of th. condensed dioxalayl p-sulph.nilam.de with.ph.nol, th.s ion exch.nge resin was exam.ned by th. different tech.iques such.as;x-ray diffraction, infra red spectra (ir), and electronic m.croscopic, it was found a good adsorbent m.terial th.t used for th. reduction of h.avy m.tals from.contam.nated groundwater sam.les.

Furth.rm.re, reactions of (3) with.som. of laboratory available com.ounds gave pyrazoles (4-9, 12, 13a, 13b), tetrazoles (11), 2-(2-benzylideneh.drazinyl)-3-ph.nyl-3h.ch.om.no[2,3-d]pyrim.din4(10h.-oneisoxazoles (14), 5-ch.oro-1-(4-oxo-3-ph.nyl-4,10-dih.dro-3h.ch.om.no[2,3-d]pyrim.din-2-yl)-3-ph.nyl-2, 3-dih.dro-1h.pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (17), pyrim.dines (28a, b), pyridines (29a-29e, 30, 33a, 33b), benzo[b][1, 4]oxazepin-2- am.nes (32a, b), 3-ch.oro-4-(2-im.no-2h.ch.om.n-3-yl)-1-ph.nyl-4-(ph.nylam.no) azetidin-2-one (34a-34e) and 2-(2- im.no-2h.ch.om.n-3-yl)-3-ph.nyl-2-(ph.nyl am.no)th.azolidin-4-onee (35a-35e). Th. structures of th.se com.ounds were establish.d by elem.ntal analysis, ir, m. and Nm. spectral analysis.

Nanocrystalline Fe-based alloys offer a new opportunity for tailoring soft m.gnetic m.terials. Nanocrystalline alloy in th. form.of ribbon with.th. com.osition of Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 was prepared by rapid quench.ng m.th.d for soft m.gnetic properties analysis. Th. rapidly quench.d alloy h.s been annealed in a controlled way in th. tem.erature range 490℃ to 680℃ and annealing tim. 1 m.n to 60 m.n. Th. study of th. structural param.ters h.s been investigated by m.ans of XRD analysis. m.gnetic properties were analyzed by m.asuring B-h.loop and frequency dependence of initial perm.ability. Enh.nced value of initial perm.ability by two orders of m.gnitude and very low value of relative loss factor of th. order of 10–3 h.s been observed with.th. variation of annealing tem.erature and tim.. Th. initial perm.ability for th. optim.m.annealed sam.le h.s been found 23,064 as com.ared with.360 for its am.rph.us counterpart. Th. initial perm.ability spectra sh.w dispersion around 100 kh.. m.gnetic h.steresis h.s been investigated by m.asuring B-h.loops at various m.gnetic fields for different annealing tem.erature and tim.. Th. coercivity and rem.nence h.s been found to decrease significantly for optim.zed annealed condition com.ared to as-cast state. Th. core loss of th. sam.les decreases with.th. annealing tim. wh.ch.indicates th. good m.gnetic property of soft m.gnetic m.terials.

Objective: To isolate and identify th. antifungal com.ounds from.Curcum. am.da. m.th.ds: Th. antifungal activity was m.asured by th. diam.ter of colonies grown on Petri dish.m.croscopic observation,and CLSI m.crodilution m.th.ds. Th. antifungal com.ounds were isolated th.ough.bioactivity guided purification by using silica gel and h.gh.perform.nce liquid ch.om.tograph.. Structural identification of th. antifungal com.ounds was conducted using 1 h.Nm.,13 C Nm.,and liquid ch.om.tograph.-tandem.m.ss spectrom.try. Results: Th. purified antifungal com.ounds were zederone and furanodienone. Th.se two com.ounds sh.wed dose-dependent antifungal activity against Fusarium.solani sensu lato. Th. concentration required for 50% growth.inh.bition(IC50) of FSSL ranged from.115 to 129 μm.and 82 to 91 μm.for zederone and furanodienone,respectively. Conclusion: Th.s study suggested th.t th. isolated com.ounds from.Curcum. am.da could be prom.sing natural antifungal agents to control th. diseases caused by Fusarium.solani sensu lato.

Soybean genotypes sh.w diverse ph.siological responses to drough., but specific ph.siological traits th.t can be used to evaluate drough. tolerance h.ve not been identified. In th. present study we investigated ph.siological traits of soybean genotypes under progressive soil drying and rewetting, using a treatm.nt m.m.cking field *** a prelim.nary study with.eigh. soybean genotypes, two drough.-tolerant genotypes and one susceptible genotype were grown in th. greenh.use and subjected to water restriction. Leaf expansion rate, gas exch.nge, water relation param.ters, total ch.oroph.ll(Ch.), proline contents of leaves, and root xylem.p h.were m.nitored in a tim. course, and plant growth.and root traits were m.asured at th. end of th. stress cycle. Drough.-tolerant genotypes m.intained h.gh.r leaf expansion rate, net ph.tosynth.tic rate(Pn), Ch. content,instantaneous water use efficiency(WUEi), % relative water content(RWC), water potential(ψw), and turgor potential(ψp) during progressive soil drying and subsequent rewetting th.n th. susceptible genotypes. By contrast, stom.tal conductance(gs) and transpiration rate(Tr)of tolerant genotypes declined faster owing to deh.dration and recovered m.re sh.rply after reh.dration th.n th. sam. param.ters in susceptible ones. Water stress caused a significant increase in leaf proline level and root xylem.sap p h.of both.genotypes but tolerant genotypes recovered to pre-stress levels m.re quickly after reh.dration. Tolerant genotypes also produced longer roots with.h.gh.r dry m.ss th.n susceptible genotypes. We conclude th.t rapid perception and adjustm.nt in response to soil drying and rewetting as well as th. m.intenance of relatively h.gh.Pn, %RWC, and root growth.constitute th. m.ch.nism. by wh.ch.drough.-tolerant soybean genotypes cope with.water stress.
