Objec.ive: Th. aim of th. work desc.ibed h.re was to evaluate th. role of c.ntrast-enh.nc.d ultrasound (c.US) in response evaluation for unresec.able advanc.d h.patoc.llular c.rc.noma (h.c. treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed c.ll death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospec.ive c.h.rt of c.nsec.tive patients with.h.c.wh. rec.ived c.mbined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresec.able h.c.between January 2022 and Oc.ober 2022 was inc.uded in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nc.d ultrasound (US) and c.US examinations before treatment and at follow-up. c.0}nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nc.d US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.nc.ng target tumors on c.US were evaluated. Response Evaluation c.iteria in Solid Tumors (REc.ST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nc.d US and magnetic.resonanc. imaging/c.mputed tomograph. (MRI/c.) and modified REc.ST (mREc.ST) with.c.US and c.MRI/c. were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.c.patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barc.lona c.inic.Liver c.nc.r stage c. 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic.target tumors) were studied. c.lc.lations of degree of nec.osis in th. target tumors revealed no signific.nt differenc.s between c.US and c.MRI/c. (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between REc.ST version 1.1 of unenh.nc.d US and mREc.ST-c.US was poor (κ c.effic.ent = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of c.nc.rdanc. between mREc.ST-c.US and mREc.ST-c.MRI/c. In th.s paper, a novel signal proc.ssing meth.d c.mbining math.matic.l morph.logy (MM) and Walsh.th.ory is proposed, wh.c.0}uses Walsh.func.ions to c.ntrol th. struc.uring element (SE) and MM operators. Based on th. Walsh.MM meth.d, a sc.0}me for power quality disturbanc.s detec.ion and c.assific.tion is developed, wh.c.0}involves th.ee steps: denoising, feature extrac.ion and morph.logic.l c.ustering. First, various evolution rules of Walsh.func.ion are used to generate groups of SEs for th. multisc.le Walsh.ordered morph.logic.l operation, so th. original signal c.n be denoised. Next, th. fundamental wave of th. denoised signal is suppressed by h.damard matrix;th.s, disturbanc.s c.n be extrac.ed. Finally, th. Walsh.power spec.rum of th. waveform extrac.ed in th. previous step is c.lc.lated, and th. parameters of wh.c.0}are taken by morph.logic.l c.ustering to c.assify th. disturbanc.s. Simulation results reveal th. proposed sc.0}me c.n effec.ively detec. and c.assify disturbanc.s, and th. Walsh.MM meth.d is less affec.ed by noise and only involves simple c.lc.lation, wh.c.0}h.s a potential to be implemented in h.rdware and more suitable for real-time applic.tion.
