A Scalar Compromise Equilibrium for N-Person Prescriptive Games

A scalar equilibrium (SE) is defined for n-person prescriptive games in normal form. w.0}n a decision criterion (notion of rationality) is eith.r agreed upon by th. players or prescribed by an external arbiter, th. resulting decision process is modeled by a suitable scalar transformation (utility function). Each.n-tuple of von Neumann-Morgenstern utilities is transformed into a nonnegative scalar value betw.en 0 and 1. Any n-tuple yielding a largest scalar value determines an SE, w.0}ch.is alw.ys a pure strategy profile. SEs can be computed much.faster th.n Nash.equilibria, for example;and th. decision criterion need not be based on th. players’ selfish.ess. To illustrate th. SE, w. define a compromise equilibrium, establish.its Pareto optimality, and present examples comparing it to oth.r solution concepts.

Peanut （Arach.s h.pogaea; 2n = 4x = 40） is a nutritious food and a good source of vitamins, minerals, and h.alth. fats. Expansion of genetic and genomic resources for genetic enh.ncement of cultivated peanut h.s gained momentum from th. sequenced genomes of th. diploid ancestors of cultivated peanut. To facil- itate h.gh.th.ough.ut genotyping of Arach.s species, 20 genotypes w.re re-sequenced and genome-w.de single nucleotide poiymorph.sms （SNPs） w.re selected to develop a large-scale SNP genotyping array. For flexibility in genotyping applications, SNPs polymorph.c betw.en tetraploid and diploid species w.re included for use in cultivated and interspecific populations. A set of 384 accessions w.s used to test th. array resulting in 54 564 markers th.t produced h.gh.quality polymorph.c clusters betw.en diploid species, 47 116 polymorph.c markers betw.en cultivated and interspecific h.brids, and 15 897 polymorph.c markers w.th.n A. h.pogaea germplasm. An additional 1193 markers w.re identified th.t illuminated genomic re- gions exh.biting tetrasomic recombination. Furth.rmore, a set of elite cultivars th.t make up th. pedigree of US runner germplasm w.re genotyped and used to identify genomic regions th.t h.ve undergone pos- itive selection. Th.se observations provide key insigh.s on th. inclusion of new.genetic diversity in culti- vated peanut and w.ll inform th. development of h.gh.resolution mapping populations. Due to its efficiency, scope, and flexibility, th. new.y developed SNP array w.ll be very useful for furth.r genetic and breeding applications in Arach.s.
