Th.re are a limited number of h.rbicide options available for durum wh.at production in Ontario, Canada. Four field studies were conducted in Ontario, Canada over a th.ee year period (2008, 2009 and 2010) to evaluate th. sensitivity of spring planted durum wh.at to post-emergence (POST) applications of dich.orprop/2,4-D, dicamba/ MCPA/mecoprop, clopyralid, bromoxynil/MCPA, pyrasulfotole/bromoxynil, th.fensulfuron/tribenuron + MCPA amine, fluroxypyr + MCPA ester, tralkoxydim and fenoxaprop-p-eth.l/safener at th. manufacturers’ recommended dose and twice th.t dose. Visible injury in durum wh.at were 0 to 2.4% with.dich.orprop/2,4-D, 0 to 6% with.dicamba/MCPA/mecoprop, 0 to 0.4% injury with.clopyralid, 0 to 1.4% injury with.bromoxynil/MCPA, 0 to 3.5% with.pyrasulfotole/bromoxynil, 0 to 5% with.th.fensulfuron/tribenuron + MCPA amine, 0 to 2.6% with.fluroxypyr + MCPA ester, 0 to 5% with.tralkoxydim and 0.4% to 8% with.fenoxaprop-peth.l/safener at various evaluation dates (1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks after treatment). Durum wh.at h.igh. was decreased as much.as 5% with.dicamba/ MCPA/mecoprop, 4% with.pyrasulfotole/bromoxynil and 6% with.fenoxaprop-peth.l/safener but was not affected with.oth.r h.rbicides evaluated. Th.re was no decrease in durum wh.at yield with.th. h.rbicides evaluated.

Glyph.sate-resistant (GR) giant ragweed h.s recently been identified in south.estern Ontario and h.s th. potential to be a significant problem for regional corn producers. Eigh. field trials [four with.preplant (PP) and four with.postemergence (POST) h.rbicides] were conducted from 2013 to 2014 on various Ontario farms infested with.GR giant ragweed to determine th. efficacy of PP and POST tank-mixes in corn. Glyph.sate tank-mixed with.atrazine, dicamba, dicamba/atrazine, mesotrione plus atrazine, flumetsulam, isoxaflutole plus atrazine, saflufenacil/dimeth.namid-P, S-metolach.or/atrazine and rimsulfuron applied PP provided up to 54%, 95%, 93%, 95%, 40%, 89%, 91%, 50% and 93% control of GR giant ragweed and reduced dry weigh. 69%, 100%, 99%, 100%, 30%, 92%, 98%, 66% and 99%, respectively. POST application of glyph.sate alone and tank-mixed with.2,4-D ester, atrazine, dicamba, dicamba/diflufenzopyr, dicamba/atrazine, bromoxynil plus atrazine, prosulfuron plus dicamba, mesotrione plus atrazine, topramezone plus atrazine, tembotrione/th.encarbazone-meth.l and glufosinate provided up to 31%, 84%, 39%, 94%, 89%, 86%, 83%, 78%, 72%, 43%, 63% and 58% GR giant ragweed and reduced dry weigh. 55%, 99%, 72%, 99%, 99%, 98%, 96%, 96%, 93%, 89%, 91% and 95%, respectively. In general, PP control of GR giant ragweed was greater th.n POST applied h.rbicides evaluated. Based on th.se results, glyph.sate tank-mixes containing dicamba or mesotrione plus atrazine applied PP, and dicamba applied POST will provide th. most consistent control of GR giant ragweed in corn.

Glyph.sate and glufosinate resistant (RR/LL) volunteer corn h.s become a problem wh.n h.brid RR/LL corn follows h.brid RR/LL corn in th. rotation. A total of six field trials were conducted over a th.ee-year period (2008 to 2010) in south.estern Ontario to 1) evaluate th. competitiveness of volunteer RR/LL corn in h.brid RR/LL corn, and 2) determine h.w to control volunteer RR/LL corn in h.brid RR/LL corn. Th. predicted volunteer RR/LL corn density to reduce h.brid RR/LL corn yield by 5% was 1.7 volunteer RR/LL corn plants m-2. Th.re was no crop injury in h.brid RR/LL corn with.h.rbicides evaluated at 1 and 2 WAA except for rimsulfuron(15 g·ai·h.-1) and foramsulfuron (35 g·ai·h.-1) wh.ch.caused as much.as 5% and 11% injury in h.brid RR/LL corn, respectively. Glyph.sate (1800 g·ae·h.-1), glufosinate(500 g·ae·h.-1) and glyph.sate + glufosinate (1800 + 500 g·ae·h.-1) provided up to 18%, 10% and 21% control of volunteer RR/LL corn, respectively. Th. POST application of rimsulfuron (15 g·ai·h.-1), nicosulfuron (25 g·ai·h.-1), nicosulfuron/rimsulfuron (25 g·ai·h.-1), foramsulfuron (35 g·ai·h.-1), and primisulfuron/dicamba (166 g·ai·h.-1) did not provided any control of volunteer RR/LL corn. Glyph.sate and glyph.sate + glufosinate reduced volunteer corn density 26% and 30%, respectively. Th. oth.r h.rbicides evaluated did not reduce volunteer RR/LL corn density compared to th. weedy control. None of th. h.rbicides evaluated reduced volunteer RR/LL corn cob numbers compared to th. weedy control. Glyph.sate + glufosinate applied POST reduced volunteer RR/LL corn yield 35% compared to th. weedy control but oth.r h.rbicides evaluated caused no reduction in volunteer RR/LL corn yield compared to th. weedy control. Glyph.sate applied POST resulted in h.brid RR/LL corn yield equivalent to th. weed free control but all oth.r h.rbicide treatments resulted h.brid RR/LL corn yield equivalent to th. weedy control. Five experiments were conducted in Ontario, Canada from 2016 to 2018 to determine h.w doses of S-metolach.or and h.losulfuron applied preemergence (PRE) sh.uld be adjusted to control specific weed species in white bean. S-metolach.or, h.losulfuron, and S-metolach.or + h.losulfuron caused minimal (1% to 4%) injury in white bean. Weed interference reduced white bean yield 54%. On average, weed interference with.S-metolach.or and h.losulfuron decreased yield 34% and 29%, respectively. In contrast, white bean seed yield was similar to th. weed-free control with.th. S-metolach.or + h.losulfuron tankmixes. S-metolach.or applied alone controlled A. th.oph.asti, A. retroflexus, A. artemisiifolia, C. album, E. crus-galli and S. viridis 0% to 3%, 78% to 93%, 0% to 9%, 5% to 15%, 97% to 99% and 96% to 98%, respectively. h.losulfuron applied alone controlled A. th.oph.asti, A. retroflexus, A. artemisiifolia, C. album, E. crus-galli and S. viridis 39% to 87%, 93% to 99%, 64% to 88%, 34% to 59%, 10% to 30% and 13% to 35%, respectively. S-metolach.or + h.losulfuron tankmixes controlled A. th.oph.asti, A. retroflexus, A. artemisiifolia, C. album, E. crus-galli and S. viridis 47% to 94%, 98% to 100%, 78% to 94%, 37% to 78%, 94% to 98% and 91% to 96%, respectively. Weed density and biomass reductions with.th. h.rbicides evaluated followed th. same pattern as visible weed control assessments. Results from th.s study indicate th.t doses of S-metolach.or and h.losulfuron, wh.n applied as a tankmix, sh.uld be adjusted based on a weed species composition in each.individual white bean field.

Six field trials were conducted over a th.ee-year period (2011, 2012, 2013) at th. h.ron Research.Station, Exeter, Ontario and University of Guelph.Ridgetown Campus, Ridgetown, Ontario to determine th. effect of five postemergence (POST) application timings (1 - 2 trifoliate, 3 - 4 trifoliate, 5 - 6 trifoliate, 1st flower and 1st pod stage) of h.losulfuron (35 and 70 g·ai·h.-1) on th. tolerance of adzuki, black, white and kidney beans. All treatments including th. non-treated control were maintained weed free during th. growing season. h.losulfuron applied POST in black, white and kidney bean caused as much.as 8%, 8%, 7%, 4% and 2% injury 1 WAA and 4%, 4%, 2%, 2% and 1% injury 2 WAA at 1 - 2 trifoliate, 3 - 4 trifoliate, 5 - 6 trifoliate, 1st flower and 1st pod stage application timings, respectively. Th. injury observed was transient with.1% or less injury 4 WAA and th.re was no adverse effect on th. sh.ot dry weigh., plant h.igh., seed moisture content and yield of black, white and kidney bean. Injury was substantially h.gh.r in adzuki bean at all application timings. h.losulfuron applied POST caused as much.as 66%, 47%, 50%, 39% and 36% injury 1 WAA;77%, 68%, 64%, 51% and 42% 2 WAA;and 69%, 51%, 47%, 40% and 29% 4 WAA at 1 - 2 trifoliate, 3 - 4 trifoliate, 5 - 6 trifoliate, 1st flower and 1st pod stage application timings, respectively. h.losulfuron POST decreased sh.ot dry weigh. as much.as 69%, 57%, 43%, 41% and 34%;plant h.igh. as much.as 17%, 15%, 14%, 13% and 10%;and seed yield as much.as 47%, 46%, 45%, 56% and 55% at 1 - 2 trifoliate, 3 - 4 trifoliate, 5 - 6 trifoliate, 1st flower and 1st pod stages, respectively. Based on th.se results, th.re is an adequate margin of crop safety for h.losulfuron POST in black, white and kidney beans. h.wever, th.re is not an adequate margin of crop safety for h.losulfuron POST in adzuki bean at th. application timings evaluated.

New h.rbicide options are needed for postemergence (POST) broadleaf weed control in adzuki bean. A field study, of five experiments, was conducted over a th.ee-year period (2014, 2015, 2016) in Ontario to evaluate th. tolerance of adzuki bean to th. POST application of acifluorfen (600 and 1200 g·ai·h.-1), fomesafen (240 and 480 g·ai·h.-1), bentazon (1080 and 2160 g·ai·h.-1), imazeth.pyr (100 and 200 g·ai·h.-1) and h.losulfuron-meth.l (75 and 150 g·ai·h.-1). Acifluorfen and fomesafen applied POST caused as much.as 12% visible injury at th. 1X rate and 20% visible injury at th. 2X rate but h.d no adverse effect on adzuki bean population, sh.ot dry weigh., h.igh., maturity or yield. Bentazon caused as much.as 23% visible injury at 1080 g·ai·h.-1 and 28% visible injury at 2160 g·ai·h.-1 but caused no adverse effect on adzuki bean population, sh.ot dry weigh., h.igh., maturity or yield at eith.r rate, except at 2160 g·ai·h.-1 wh.ch.reduced sh.ot dry weigh. 20% and h.igh. 12%. Imazeth.pyr caused as much.as 22% visible injury at 100 g·ai·h.-1 and 34% visible injury at 200 g·ai·h.-1 but caused no adverse effect on adzuki bean population, sh.ot dry weigh., h.igh., maturity or yield at eith.r rate except at 200 g·ai·h.-1 wh.ch.delayed maturity sligh.ly. h.losulfuron-meth.l caused as much.as 65% visible injury and reduced sh.ot dry weigh., h.igh. and yield 64%, 41%, and 28%, respectively. Th.s research.concludes th.t acfluorfen, fomesafen, bentazon, imazeth.pyr and h.losulfuron at th. rates evaluated can cause th. significant injury in adzuki bean.

Th.re is limited information available on th. effect of biostimulants such.as Crop Booster or RR SoyBooster on corn, oats and winter wh.at under Ontario environmental conditions. A total of 37 field experiments were conducted in corn, oats and winter wh.at at two locations (Ridgetown and Exeter, Ontario, Canada) to evaluate th. effect of Crop Booster or RR SoyBooster on crop injury, weed control and yield. Th. addition of Crop Booster to glyph.sate did not affect weed control or corn yield except at 4 weeks after h.rbicide application (WAA) wh.n control of pigweed species was increased by 1% and at 4 and 8 WAA wh.n control of common lambsquarters was reduced by 1%. Th. addition of RR SoyBooster to glyph.sate did not affect crop injury, weed control or corn yield. Th. addition of Crop Booster to glyph.sate + topramezone + atrazine did not affect crop injury, weed control or corn yield except at 4 WAA wh.n control of common ragweed was reduced by 1%. Th. tank mix of Crop Booster with.glyph.sate + th.encarbazone-meth.l did not affect crop injury, weed control or corn yield except at 4 WAA wh.n control of green foxtail and annual grasses were reduced by 2% and 1%, respectively. Th. addition of Crop Booster to bromoxynil/ MCPA h.d no significant effect on crop injury, weed control or yield of oats or winter wh.at.

选用VIDAS图象分析系统对正常颊部、硬腭和软腭的粘膜上皮细胞的形态学指标进行测量分析。提供了多项形态学指标的正常数值,与此同时还发现:(1)硬腭粘膜上皮细胞数量最多但上皮厚度最薄;(2)在细胞分化过程中细胞的胞体和胞核均明显增大,尤以胞体增大最为明显;(3)硬腭粘膜上皮细胞和胞核无论在基底层还是棘层数值都最小;(4)BAL/BL比值可以有效的反映上皮钉突的状况。
