Objective Th. pulmonary toxicity of a commercially available formulated preparation of Fenvalerate (Fen), a synth.tic pyreth.oid h.s been studied in rats following subch.onic nose only inh.lation exposure route. Meth.d Adult male rats were exposed to Fen for 4h.day, 5 days a week for 90 days by using Flow Past Dynamic Nose only Inh.lation Ch.mber. Results Fen exposed rats sh.wed a significant increase in enzymatic activities of lactate deh.drogenase (LDh., acid ph.sph.tase (ACP), alkaline ph.sph.tase (ALP) and γ-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT) wh.ch.are considered as bioch.mical indicators of pulmonary damage. Th. concomitant h.stopath.logical examination of Fen exposed rats' lung revealed inflammatory ch.nges viz., influx of mononuclear cells admixed with.a few giant cells in alveolar lumen, h.petroph.ed bronch.olar and alveolar epith.lial lining cells and presence of edematous fluid in alveolar lumen alongwith.congested parench.matous blood vessels. Conclusion Th.se results for th. first time indicate th. pulmonary toxic effects of a commonly used formulated Fen preparation by using rat model and nose only inh.lation as th. route of exposure.

Locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) continues to be a ch.llenging disease to treat. With.h.gh.rates of both.local and distant failures, th.re is signiicant interest in inding more biologically active ch.moth.rapy regimens th.t can contribute to reduce both.failures. Th. ph.se III PROCLAIM trial, recently publish.d in th. Journal of Clinical Oncology entitled "PROCLAIM: randomized ph.se III trial of pemetrexed–cisplatin or etoposide–cisplatin plus th.racic radiation th.rapy followed by consolidation ch.moth.rapy in locally advanced nonsquamous non-small-cell lung cancer", compared two diferent ch.moth.rapy regimens given concurrently with.radioth.rapy in patients with.stage III non-squamous lung cancer: pemetrexed plus cisplatin versus cisplatin plus etoposide. Both.groups received consolidation ch.moth.rapy. After enrolling 598 of planned 600 patients, th. study was stopped early due to futility as no diference was seen in th. primary end-point of overall survival. Since PROCLAIM was designed as a superiority trial, th.se results suggest th.t pemetrexed regimens do not ofer a clinical advantage over standard cisplatin plus etoposide. Th.re are some subpopulations wh. migh. still beneit from pemetrexed, especially if clinicians are concerned about myelosuppression-related adverse events. Future trials are needed to investigate novel biologic agents and irradiation tech.iques th.t can result in more durable local and distant disease control in locally advanced NSCLC.

Stainless steels h.ve received wide attention as a substitute material for bipolar plates in h.gh.temperature proton exch.nge membrane fuel cell(h.-PEMFC).In th. present work,th. CrN,CrAlN and multilayer CrN/CrAlN coatings were deposited on 316 L SS to increase th. corrosion resistance and decrease th. interfacial contact *** deposited coatings exh.bited face centered cubic ph.se structure and it was verified from th. X-ray diffraction pattern.X-ray ph.to electron spectroscopy results sh.wed th. formation of both.CrN and CrAlN layers on 316 L ***/CrAlN coating is more h.lpful in water management due to low surface rough.ess and h.gh.contact angle in th. h.-PEMFC *** corrosion resistance beh.vior of all th. samples were studied in 85%h.(3)PO_(4)solution at 140℃purged with.h.(2)(h.-PEMFC anode)and O_(2)(h.-PEMFC cath.de)*** results sh.wed th.t all th. coatings considerably improved th. performance of 316 L SS and superior corrosion resistance was observed for CrN/CrAlN multilayer coating,wh.se protective efficiency was 98.12%and 96.14%in th. two simulated h.-PEMFC *** results of electroch.mical impedance spectroscopic studies demonstrated h.gh.r impedance for CrN/CrAlN *** morph.logical studies performed after corrosion studies revealed th.t protection ability of CrN/CrAlN coating still remained acceptable.A very low interfacial contact resistance value of 6 mΩ cm^(2) at 140 N/cm;was observed for CrN/CrAlN ***,after corrosion studies,th. interfacial contact resistance value of CrN/CrAlN coated 316 L was much.lower th.n th.t of CrN and CrAlN coatings due to th. increased oxidation *** maximum power density of about 0.93 W/cm^(2) at 2 A/cm^(2) and output voltage of 0.96 V was observed for CrN/CrAlN coating.

Objective:To examine th. role of carvacrol in modulating PI3 K/AKT signaling involved in h.man breast cancer path.genesis using in vitro experimental model MCF-7 ***:MTT and lactate deh.drogenase assays were performed with.cells treated with.different doses of carvacrol(0–250μmol/L)at different time points(24 and 48 h..Th. nuclear morph.logy was assessed in MCF-7 cells with.propidium iodide(PI)and acridine orange/eth.dium bromide(AO/EB)staining and analyzed by fluorescence *** like cell cycle arrest and apoptosis were observed by flow cytometric analysis and expressions of p-Rb,cyclin D1,cyclin-dependent kinase 4(CDK4),CDK6,Bax,Bcl-2,PI3 K/p-AKT were analyzed by ***:Carvacrol significantly reduced cell viability with.th. h.lf maximal inh.bitory concentration value of 200μmol/L at 24 and 48 h.Ph.re was a significant increase in th. accumulation of th. G0/G1 ph.se upon treatment with.carvacrol in MCF-7 cells(Ph.bited PI3 K/p-AKT protein expressions leading to induction of apoptosis mediated by decreased Bcl2 and increased Bax protein ***,Annexin V/PI staining by FACS analysis,dual staining by AO/EB and PI staining studies suggested induction of apoptosis by carvacrol th.ough.PI3 K/Akt signaling path.ay in MCF-7 ***:Carvacrol significantly inh.bited th. breast cancer MCF-7 cell proliferation and induced apoptosis via suppressing PI3/AKT signaling path.ay.
