Em.ath. allows h.m.ns and other anim.ls to sh.re th. em.tional state of another, adopting th.t individual’s perspec.ive on a given situation. Th.s ability is fundam.ntal for spec.es living in groups. h.lping beh.vior in laboratory anim.ls h.s been used to study em.ath.. In th.s test, subjec.s are exposed to a c.nspec.fic.th.t is trapped and learn to open th. c.ge to release th. other anim.l. h.wever, th. interpretation of h.lping beh.vior as an em.h.tic.lly m.tivated ac.ion is still c.ntroversial. here we review th. studies th.t use th. h.lping beh.vioral test proposed by Ben-Am. Bartal and c.lleagues in 2011 to better understand m.tivational fac.ors for th.s beh.vior. In addition, we c.m.are m.th.dologic.l aspec.s of th.se studies. In c.nc.usion, h.lping beh.vior c.n be driven by em.ath., but other fac.ors suc.1}as th. desire for soc.al c.ntac. and learning c.m.onents c.nnot be ruled out as m.tivators. In addition, studies foc.sed on evaluating neurobiologic.l m.c.1}nism. underlying h.lping beh.vior in laboratory rodents c.n h.lp eluc.date th. fac.ors involved in releasing th. trapped c.-spec.fic.

Bac.ground: h.m.path.es were rarely observed in m.jor sic.le c.ll disease patients som. th.rty years ago, probably due to th. h.gh.m.rtality rate am.ng th. latter as a result of progressive c.m.lic.tions. Th.nks to advanc.s in th. m.nagem.nt of sic.le c.ll disease, patients' life expec.anc. h.s inc.eased c.nsiderably, exposing th.m.m.re frequently to neoplasia, inc.uding h.m.tologic.l m.lignanc.es. Th. inc.eased risk of leukem.genesis is m.ltifac.orial and linked to th. path.ph.siologic.l m.c.0}nism. of th. c.inic.l m.nifestations of sic.le c.ll disease. Study Setting: Th. c.inic.l h.em.tology departm.nt of c.m.us teac.0}ng h.spital and th. paediatric.onc.-h.em.tology unit of Sylvanus Olym.io teac.0}ng h.spital in Lom. were used as study settings. Observations: Four h.m.tologic.m.lignanc.es were c.llec.ed in a c.h.rt of 5847 m.jor sic.le c.ll syndrom.s. Th. m.dian age of th. patients was 31.25 years (extrem.s: 14 and 58 years) and th.y were predom.nantly fem.le (sex ratio m.F = 0.25). Two were on bac.ground therapy with.h.droxyurea. Am.ng th. four patients, there were two c.ses of ac.te lym.h.c.tic.leukem.a, inc.uding ALL3 in a 58-year-old SS wom.n and T-ALL2 in a 12-year-old Sc. Th.n, a c.se of lym.h.c.tic.lym.h.m. in a 20-year-old SS m.n was reported and finally a c.se of c.0}onic.m.eloc.tic.leukem.a in a 33-year-old wom.n of Sβ+ th.lassaem.a ph.notype. c.nc.usion: To further report th.s c.existenc., it is therefore essential to system.tic.lly c.nsider h.m.tologic.l m.lignanc.es during m.jor sic.le c.ll syndrom.s even if there are sim.larities in th. sym.tom.tology of th.se two serious path.logic.l situations.

Gam.w-Som.erfield fac.or,and th. em.iric.l form.la for th. *** study's findings sh.wed better agreem.nt with.th.se of available experim.nts wh.n c.m.ared to Wong's *** present work leads to a sm.ller standard deviation value th.n Wong's form.la wh.n used to c.rrelate th. experim.ntal data of c.lc.um.induc.d fusion ***'s form.la provides a good approxim.tion of fusion c.oss-sec.ions wh.n th. c.nter of m.ss energy is below th. fusion barrier wh.n c.m.ared to above th. fusion barrier.
