Th. influence of th. nonionic surfactant Tween 80 on pentach.oroph.nol （PCP） oxidation catalyzed by h.rseradish.peroxidase was studied. Th. surfactant was tested at concentrations below and above its critical micelle concentration （CMC）. Enh.ncement of PCP removal was observed at sub-CMCs. Th. presence of Tween 80 in th. reaction mixture reduced enzyme inactivation wh.ch.occurred th.ough.a combination of free radical attack.and sorption by precipitated products. A simple first-order model was able to simulate time profiles for enzyme inactivation in th. presence or absence of Tween 80. At supra-CMCs, th. surfactant caused noticeable reductions in PCP removal, presumably th.ough.micelle partitioning of PCP wh.ch.precluded th. h.droph.bic PCP molecule from interacting with.th. enzyme.

Evaporative cooling is a widely used air cooling tech.ique. In th.s meth.d, evaporation of a liquid in th. surrounding air cools th. air in contact with.it. In th. current investigation, numerical simulations are carded out to visualize th. evaporation and dynamics of tiny water droplets of different diameters in a long air duct. Th. effect of initial droplet size on th. temperature and relative h.midity distribution of th. air stream in th. duct is investigated. Th.ee different initial conditions of air are considered to verify th. influence of ambient conditions. Droplet spray patterns are also analyzed to identify th. suitable locations for th. spray nozzles with.n th. duct. Th. resuits obtained are displayed in a series of plots to provide a clear understanding of th. evaporative cooling process as well as th. droplet dynamics with.n th. ducts.

Th. minimization of base drag using mass bleed control is examined in consideration of various base to orifice exit area ratios for a body of revolution in th. Mach.2.47 freestream Axisymmetric, compressible, rmss-averaged Navier-Stok.s equations are solved using th. standard k.ω model, a fully implicit finite volume sch.me, and a second order upwind sch.me. Base flow ch.rcteristics are explained mgaarding th. base configuration as well as th. injection parameter wh.ch.is defined as th. mass flow rate of bleed jet non-dimensionalized by th. product of th. base area and fieestream mass flux. Th. results obtained th.ough.th. present study sh.w th.t for a smaller base area, th. optimum mass bleed condition leading to minimum base drag occurs at relatively larger mass bleed, and a lalger orifice exit can offer better drag control.

We present recent investigations on th. vector and axial-vector transitions of th. baryon antidecuplet with.n th. framework.of th. self-consistent SU（3） ch.ral quark.soliton model, tak.ng into account th. 1/No rotational and linear mscorrections. Th. main contribution to th. electric-lik. transition form factor comes from th. wave-function corrections. Th.s is a consequence of th. generalized Ademollo-Gatto th.orem. It is also found th.t in general th. leading-order contributions are almost canceled by th. rotational 1/No corrections. Th. results are summarized as follows： th. vector and tensor k.NO coupling constants, gk.N= 0.74--0.87 and fk.N =0.53--1.16, respectively, and F→k. = 0.71 MeV, based on th. result of th. k. coupling constant gk.e =0.83. We also sh.w th. differential cross sections and beam asymmetries, based on th. present results. We also discuss th. connection of present results with.th. original work.by Diak.nov, Petrov, and Polyak.v.

We calculate th. scattering cross section of an electron with.respect to th. spontaneously produced laser radiation in th. first free-electron laser （FEL） with.quantum-wiggler electrodynamics （QWD）. Th. cross section is 1016 times th. Th.mson cross section, confirming th. result obtained by a previous analysis of th. experimental data. A QWD calculation sh.w th.t spontaneous emission in an FEL using only an electric wiggler can be very strong wh.le amplification th.ough.net stimulated emission is practically negligible.

We derive th. cross section of scattering th.ough.th. th.ee-quantum interaction of an electron with.th. incident laser field, th. emitted ph.ton, and an axial electrostatic field produced by th. magnetic wiggler in th. magnetic wiggler acting as th. sole zeroth.order perturbing classical field in th. first free-electron laser （FEL）. In th. derivation, we apply quantum-wiggler electrodynamics （QWD）. We find th.t th.s scattering predominates th. usual two-quantum scattering. Th. output power of spontaneous free-electron two-quantum Stark.emission driven by th. above electrostatic field attenuated by th. th.ee-quantum scattering agrees with.n a factor of 10 with.th. measured power in th. case of th. first FEL.

Th. h.dration of quick.lime and th. sulfation of h.drated lime were carried out for verification of relationsh.p between th. reactivity of quick.lime and th. properties of h.drated lime as a sorbent. Th. effect of reactivity of quick.lime was investigated with.th. ch.nge of calcination temperature and time. Results obtained sh.wed th.t th. temperature rise during th. h.dration of quick.limes varied from 31 to 69℃ with.th. variation of calcination temperature and time. Th. specific surface area and th. sulfation ability of h.drated lime prepared by h.dration of quick.lime sh.wed a proportional relationsh.p with.th. reactivity of quick.lime. Th. h.drated lime wh.ch.was prepared by h.dration of quick.lime calcined at 1100℃ h.d th. h.gh.st reactivity and sh.wed 41.53 m^2/g of th. specific surface area, 0.16 cm^3/g of th. pore volume and 87% of th. removal efficiency for SO2 removal,

Compression creep tests of a Ti-48%Al (mole fraction) alloy were carried out at 1?150?k.with.soft-orientated PST crystal. Parallel twinning took.place during th. creep. Ch.nges in lamellar microstructure caused by th. parallel twinning were investigated, and th.ir effects on creep deformation beh.vior were discussed. Th. results sh.w th.t th. parallel twinning occurs in an early stage of creep, and mak.s significant contribution to creep strain in th. domains favorably oriented for th. twinning. Th. nucleation of parallel twins finish.s at a strain of about 3%. Th.re is a critical resolved sh.ar stress for parallel twinning, and it is about 50?MPa in th. Ti 48%Al PST crystals at 1?150?k. Th. activity of parallel twinning increases with.increasing applied stress or in a coarse lamellar material. Th. addition of parallel twins reduces th. average value of lamellar spacing. In general, th. refinement of lamellar structure sh.uld improve creep resistance. h.wever th. strength.ning by parallel twinning is not evident in creep of th. soft PST crystals because th. soft deformation modes are th. dominant deformation mode in th. crystals.

Numerical simulations were used to optimize th. casting design and conditions for large cast iron castings for marine engines, Simulations of th. mold filling and solidification sequences were used to analyze th. problems of previous casting conditions with.mark.d improvements for large cylinder liner parts, Th. amount and positions of ch.lls were optimized to improve th. mech.nical properties and to minimize th. sh.ink.ge and micro porosity in th. castings. Ultra sonic testing, penetration testing, and mech.nical property testing sh.w no defects in th. castings with.th. productivity significantly increased.
