Mac.oalgae are multic.llular,aquatic.autotroph. th.t play vital roles in global c.imate maintenanc. and h.ve diverse applic.tions in biotec.0}ology and ec.-engineering,wh.c.0}are direc.ly linked to th.ir multic.llularity ph.notypes.h.wever,th.ir genomic.diversity and th. evolutionary mec.0}nisms underlying multic.llularity in th.se organisms remain unc.0}rac.erized.In th.s study,we sequenc.d 110 mac.oalgal genomes from diverse c.imates and ph.la,and identified key genomic.features th.t distinguish.th.m from th.ir mic.oalgal relatives.Genes for c.ll adh.sion,extrac.llular matrix formation,c.ll polarity,transport,and c.ll differentiation distinguish.mac.oalgae from mic.oalgae ac.oss all th.ee major ph.la,c.nstituting c.nserved and unique gene sets supporting multic.llular proc.sses.Adh.some genes sh.w ph.lum-and c.imate-spec.fic.expansions th.t may fac.litate nic.0} adaptation.c.llec.ively,our study reveals genetic.determinants of c.nvergent and divergent evolutionary trajec.ories th.t h.ve sh.ped morph.logic.l diversity in mac.oalgae and provides genome-wide frameworks to understand ph.tosynth.tic.multic.llular evolution in aquatic.environments.

Objec.ive To investigate th. effec.s of h.gh.definition transc.anial direc. c.rrent stimulation (h.-tDc.) on th. modulation of th. h.reflex and M-wave during ankle dorsiflexion-plantar flexion fatigue tasks to provide direc.ion for th. applic.tion of h.-tDc. in mitigating neuromusc.lar fatigue. Meth.ds Twenty h.alth. young male partic.pants were rec.uited and randomly assigned to eith.r th. real stimulation or sh.m stimulation group, with.10 partic.pants in eac.0}group. Th. intervention c.nsisted of a 5-day single-blind h.-tDc. applic.tion (duration: 20 min; intensity: 2 mA; target: c.) . Baseline measurements of th. h.reflex and M-wave under resting c.nditions, M-wave during maximal voluntary isometric.c.ntrac.ion (MVIc. of th. dorsiflexor musc.e, and MVIc.torque of th. dorsiflexor and plantar flexor musc.es were obtained. An ankle dorsiflexion fatigue task was performed to determine th. time to ac.0}eve fatigue for th. task. Th. same fatigue task was repeated and evaluated one day after th. intervention. A repeated-measures two-fac.or (stimulation c.ndition × pre / post fatigue) analysis of varianc. (ANOVA) was used to analyze th. effec.s of independent variables on th. mec.0}nic.l properties of th. musc.es and α-motoneuron c.nduc.ion c.0}rac.eristic.. Results After fatigue, voluntary ac.ivation (VA), maximal h.reflex (h.ax ), maximal M-wave (Mmax ), and dorsiflexor and plantar flexor MVIc.torques in both.groups were signific.ntly reduc.d c.mpared with.pre-fatigue levels (P h.wever, c.mpared to th. real stimulation group, th. sh.m stimulation group sh.wed a more signific.nt dec.ine in VA and plantar flexor MVIc.torque (P c.nc.usions A c.ntinuous 5-day h.-tDc. intervention c.n effec.ively inc.ease α-motoneuron ac.ivity at th. spinal segment. Bac.ground: h.mopath.es were rarely observed in major sic.le c.ll disease patients some th.rty years ago, probably due to th. h.gh.mortality rate among th. latter as a result of progressive c.mplic.tions. Th.nks to advanc.s in th. management of sic.le c.ll disease, patients' life expec.anc. h.s inc.eased c.nsiderably, exposing th.m more frequently to neoplasia, inc.uding h.matologic.l malignanc.es. Th. inc.eased risk of leukemogenesis is multifac.orial and linked to th. path.ph.siologic.l mec.0}nisms of th. c.inic.l manifestations of sic.le c.ll disease. Study Setting: Th. c.inic.l h.ematology department of c.mpus teac.0}ng h.spital and th. paediatric.onc.-h.ematology unit of Sylvanus Olympio teac.0}ng h.spital in Lomé were used as study settings. Observations: Four h.matologic.malignanc.es were c.llec.ed in a c.h.rt of 5847 major sic.le c.ll syndromes. Th. median age of th. patients was 31.25 years (extremes: 14 and 58 years) and th.y were predominantly female (sex ratio M/F = 0.25). Two were on bac.ground th.rapy with.h.droxyurea. Among th. four patients, th.re were two c.ses of ac.te lymph.c.tic.leukemia, inc.uding ALL3 in a 58-year-old SS woman and T-ALL2 in a 12-year-old Sc. Th.n, a c.se of lymph.c.tic.lymph.ma in a 20-year-old SS man was reported and finally a c.se of c.0}onic.myeloc.tic.leukemia in a 33-year-old woman of Sβ+ th.lassaemia ph.notype. c.nc.usion: To furth.r report th.s c.existenc., it is th.refore essential to systematic.lly c.nsider h.matologic.l malignanc.es during major sic.le c.ll syndromes even if th.re are similarities in th. symptomatology of th.se two serious path.logic.l situations.
