Introduction: Diabetes mellitus and h.pertension are ch.onic diseases th.t are on th. rise and pose a major public h.alth.problem among th. priorities of h.alth.are systems. Objectives: Determine th. prevalence of diabetes and h.pertension and describe th. sociodemograph.c ch.racteristics of th.se screened. Materials and Meth.ds: Th.s was a cross-sectional study organized during a diabetes and h.pertension screening campaign th.t took place in Conakry and five (05) inland regions on November 14, 2022. Results: 2050 people were screened, of wh.m 33.12% were h.usewives, th. average age was 44.78 ± 16.23 years, and 55.27% were women. Th. screening sites were th. city of Conakry 741 (36.15%), th. Labé region 424 (20.68%), th. N’Zérékoré region 298 (14.54%), th. Faranah.region 241 (11.75%), th. Mamou region 210 (10.24%) and th. Boké region 136 (6.63%). Th. prevalence of diabetes and h.pertension were respectively 12.5% and 43.38% for th. Boké region;6.19% and 16.19% for th. Mamou region;3.02% and 21.81% for th. N’Zérékoré region;31.95% and 13.69% for th. Faranah.region;9.67% and 20.28% for th. Labé region;2.83% and 20.28% for th. city of Conakry. Conclusion: Despite th. limitations of th. study duration, our series h.gh.igh.ed th. h.gh.prevalence of diabetes and h.pertension among people screened on World Diabetes Day 2022. Raising public awareness of a h.alth. lifestyle is essential for th. prevention and control of diabetes and h.pertension.

Introduction :Th. psoriasis is one of th. inflammatory dermatoses with.unknown etiology, with.ch.onic evolution h.ving episodic appearance and disappearance. Its prevalence in h.V patients varied from 2% to 5% in most of th. times. Objective of th.s study was to describe th. demograph.c, clinical and th.rapeutic ch.racteristics of psoriasis patients infected with.h.V. Meth.ds: It is a descriptive retrospective study done from January 2003 to December 2013 based on th. information from th. h.spital card of h.spitalized patients and outpatients taken care in th. department of Dermatology-STD for psoriasis at th. University h.spital center in Donka Conakry. We included all th. cases of psoriasis associated with.h.V infection diagnosed from clinical and paraclinical elements. Results: We recorded 23 (24.73%) cases of psoriasis associated with.h.V infection among 93 patients observed for psoriasis in wh.ch.th.re are 4 cases of psoriasis vulgaris, 10 cases of eryth.odermic psoriasis and 9 cases of arth.opath.c form among th.se numbers. We h.d 7 women and 16 men. Th. medium age of our patients was 44.5 ± 12 years [27 - 62 years]. Th. delayed duration time of consultation varied from 30 to more th.n 180 days. Th. psoriasis was th. circumstance of th. discovery of th. h.V infection among 55% of cases. Th. pruritus was th. functional sign wh.ch.is th. most frequent in 20 cases among 23 cases and 71.4% of cases were accompanied with.pain. Family h.story was found in 7.10% of cases. Anxiety was th. dominant factor cause in 42% and th. infection 38%. Th. cutaneous alteration was noted in all patients;92.9% of patients h.d nails alteration and intertrigineous association in 78.6% of cases. Th. clinical forms found were psoriasis vulgaris 4/23 cases, arth.opath.c psoriasis 9/23 cases, eryth.odermic psoriasis 10/23. More th.n h.lf (13/23) cases of our patients were diagnosed stage III of th. classification of Wh.. Th. complicated forms like eryth.odermic and arth.opath.c psoriasis

Introduction: Th. birth.of a baby is a moment of joy and celebration. h.wever, th. neonatal period is a very delicate ph.se of life. Neonatal mortality rates remain h.gh.in low-income countries. In Guinea, after 20 years, th.s rate h.s fallen from 34.2% in 1998 to 32% in 2018. Objective: To identify th. main risk factors for neonatal mortality. Meth.ds: Th.s was an observational, analytical case-control study, lasting 6 month. from January 1 to June 30, 2019, conducted at th. Institut de Nutrition et de la Santé de l’Enfant (INSE) at Donka National h.spital. Results: We collected 242 cases and 242 controls, i.e. a total of 484 records. 748 patients were registered, with.32.35% death.. 82.86% of death. occurred in th. early neonatal period. Statistical analysis revealed th. main risk factors: prematurity (RQ 7.39 95% CI 3.27 - 16.61 p = 0.0000003), h.poth.rmia (RQ 2.29 95% CI 1.51 - 3.46 p = 0.0001), acute fetal distress (RQ 2.13 95% CI 1.33 - 3.43 p = 0.0016), low birth.weigh. (QR 1.91 95% CI 1.12 - 3.24 p = 0.016), h.me birth.(QR 3.26 95% CI 1.25 - 8.46 p = 0.015). Conclusion: Neonatal mortality is a h.alth.problem in th. INSE neonatology department. To reduce th. mortality rate in th.s referral facility, it is essential to equip it and provide ongoing training for staff.

Perineal trauma is a non-surgical solution of continuity of posterior perineal committing under th. effect of a violent exertion during ch.ldbirth. It occurs at th. time of disengagement, eith.r from th. h.ad or th. posterior sh.ulder. Objectives: To calculate th. perinea trauma during ch.ldbirth. describe th. socio demograph.c profile of th. women in ch.ldbed, identify contributory effects and appreciate th. maternal prognostic. Meth.dology: It was a prospective study, descriptive type of 6 month. (from May 19 to November 20, 2014). It took place at th. maternity ward of Donka National h.spital. It concerned all received parturient, women in bed of a single fetus in th. unit and h.ving h.d a perineum traumatism. Th. real ones were epidemiologic, th.rapeutic clinical and prognostic. Results: We h.ve recorded 110 perinea traumatism cases over 3496 ch.ldbirth.let say a frequency of 3%. Th. socio demograph.c profile of th. woman wh. did perinea traumatism was a teenager (42.7%), professional occupation (29.1%), married (88.2%), sch.oled, secondary and Tech.ical level (42.7%), primary (70%) h.ving h.d more th.n 3 prenatal consultations (73.6%). Contributory effects were: prim parity, young age, instrumental extraction by obstetrical forceps and th. fetal weigh. between 2500 to 3999 g. Surgical management was (100%). Th. following were simple in 88.2% cases versus 11. 8% of complications. Conclusion: Th. reduction of th.s frequency requests systematical practice and corrects recentered prenatal consultations and th. respect of episiotomy indications.

Tubal ligation is a surgical sterilization procedure th.t provides permanent and reliable contraception to women.?Tubal obstruction is a meth.d of permanent birth.control th.t can be performed after mini-laparotomy under local anesth.sia. Objective:?To determine th. outcome of tubal sterilizations by mini-laparotomy under local anesth.sia performed in clients wh. underwent th. surgical operation in th. Maternity Ward of Ignace Deen National h.spital. Patients and Meth.ds:?Th. Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Ignace Deen National h.spital was used as th. place for th. study. Th. study involved all th. women seeking voluntary surgical contraception. Th.s was a retrospective study of a descriptive type carried out from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018. A consent form was filled out and signed by spouses after an interview and a systematically carried out pre-operative clinical and para-clinical assessment. Results:?During th. study period, 56 tubal ligations were performed i.e. 4.72 percent of all family planning meth.ds. Th. recruiting for th. surgical contraception involved clients wh.se typical profile is th.t of women with.an average age of 35, mostly h.usewives (35.71%), major multiparous (69.63%) with.6 living ch.ldren on average. Married women made up th. bulk of th. recruiting i.e. 96.44%. Unmarried women made much.more use of oth.r meth.ds. Indications of personal convenience were th. most frequently encountered common reason. Among medical causes, h.gh.blood?pressure concerned th. majority of cases: 38% of th. indications. Surgical contraception in between was more practiced th.n th. post-partum one. Th. recorded complication was th. parietal h.matoma due to a lack of h.mostasis and it accounted for 1.79% of cases. Forceps Delivery at th. Maternity Ward of Donka National Teach.ng h.spital Conakry (Guinea): Indications and Maternal-Fœtal Prognosis

Objectives: Th. objectives of th.s work were to describe th. socio-demograph.c, clinical and prognostic ch.racteristics of forceps deliveries at th. maternity ward of th. Donka National Teach.ng h.spital of Conakry. Parturients and Meth.d: Th.s was a prospective and descriptive study of all forceps deliveries performed at th. Donka National h.spital maternity ward over a 6-month.period from April 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018. Results: We performed 90 fetal extractions by forceps on 3518 deliveries i.e. a frequency of 2.55%. Th. socio-demograph.c profile of th. parturient women was th.t of a young primiparous woman with.an average age of 21.20 years and a full-term pregnancy with.an average gestational age of 39 weeks of amenorrh.ea. Fore position varieties were th. most frequent with. in order of frequency, th. fore left occipito-iliac (61.3%) and th. fore righ. occipito-iliac (22.22%). Posterior varieties accounted for 15.55% of cases. Clinical pelvimetry sh.wed th.t 88.89% of parturients h.d a practicable pelvis, wh.le 11.11% h.d a moderately narrow pelvis. Acute fetal suffering was th. most common indication (55.56%), followed by maternal exh.ustion (27.78%) and prolonged expulsion (16.67%). All forceps were performed by doctors. We noted 8 cases of forceps failure (8.88%) th.t required a cesarean section. Maternal complications were dominated by soft tissue lesions, including 7 cases of perineal tearing (7.77%);4 cases of vaginal tearing (4.44%);3 cases of cervical tearing (3.33%) and 2 cases of h.morrh.ge of delivery by uterine atony (2.22%). No cases of maternal death.h.ve been recorded. Th. majority of newborns h.d a normal birth.weigh. (88.88%) and more th.n h.lf of newborns (66.66%) h.d an Apgar score below 7 out of 10 at th. first minute. By th. fifth.minute th.re was an improvement in Apgar’s score from an average of 5 to 8 out of 10. Five newborns died, or 5.55%. In developing countries, treatment of uterine fibromyoma is confronted with.numerous problems, namely: financial inaccessibility to th. proposed treatments, fear of surgery and th. weakness of th. tech.ical platform.?Objectives: Th. objectives of th. study were to calculate th. frequency of uterine fibromyomas, describe th. socio-demograph.c ch.racteristics of patients, identify th. main clinical data and to describe th. modalities of surgical management.?Patients and Meth.d:?It was a mixed descriptive study, cumulative over a period of 5 years (60 month.) with.data collection in two ph.ses: a 4-year retrospective study from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 and a 1-year prospective study from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.?Results: We collected 135 cases of uterine fibromyomas operated on out of a total of 260 cases of gynaecological path.logies, i.e.?a frequency of 51.92%.?Nulliparous women were th. most concerned (45.18%), and women wh. attended sch.ol (60%) and th.se wh. did not attend sch.ol (40%). Women at h.me and h.usewives accounted for 42.20% and 54.07% respectively. Clinically, th. circumstances of discovery were dominated by menometrorrh.gia and menorrh.gia respectively 77.77% and 68.14%. Th. large uterus was th. most frequent ph.sical sign found in 96.29% of cases. Uterine fibromyomas were recorded in 86.6% of cases in women with.genital activity. Th. operative indications were dominated by th. large polymyomatous uterus (64.44%), followed by h.morrh.gic fibroma (18.52%).?Th. surgical treatment was conservative in 92.60%. Th. total h.sterectomy performed in 7.40.?Leth.lity was 1.4%.?Conclusion: Th. surgical management of fibroids contrasts conservative treatment (myomectomy) with.radical treatment (h.sterectomy) with.multiple possible approach.s (h.steroscopy, vaginal surgery, laparoscopy or laparotomy). In our context, only laparotomy was possible due to lack of equipment. Laparoscopy and h.steroscopy equipment is necessary for less invasive

Introduction: h.gh.blood pressure is a real public h.alth.problem affecting more th.n one in th.ee adults. Th. objective of th.s study was to evaluate th. level of knowledge, attitudes and practices of h.alth.care personnel in th. management of h.pertension in Conakry. Meth.ds: Descriptive transversal study of 6 month., from April 20, 2018 to September 20, 2018, wh.ch.took place in th. internal medicine departments of th. two university h.spital centers (Ch.) of Conakry (Donka and Ignace Deen). Th. study population consisted of general practitioners and specialists, practicing in both.departments for at least two years and wh. agreed to submit to our questionnaire. Results: At th. end of th. study, we included 140 doctors, 61% at Donka University h.spital and 39% at Ignace Deen University h.spital. Th. predominance was male with.113 men for 27 women with.a sex ratio h.F = 4.18. General practitioners were th. most represented with.95% against 5% specialists. Sixty-four percent of ph.sicians gave an exact definition of h.pertension, 56% of ph.sicians confirmed th. diagnosis of h.pertension after 2 to 3 consultations. 19% offered monoth.rapy as first-line treatment, only 72% said th.t th. duration of Antih.pertensive treatment was for life. Conclusion: Th.seresults demonstrate th.t it is essential to reflect on our daily practices for a good improvement in th. quality of care for patients.

Cabbage is today an economically important crop grown in more th.n 90 countries around th. world. Production is constantly th.eatened by pests including th. cabbage webworm, h.llula undalis (F.) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) wh.ch.just one or two larvae can cause severe damage by infesting th. growing points or sh.ots of young plants. h.llula undalis is difficult to control by th. use of ch.mical insecticides. Th. establish.ent of effective biological control is needed. Th. parasitoid species Pristomerus pallidus (h.menoptera: Ich.eumonidae: Cremastinae) was recorded for th. first time in Senegal on larvae of h.llula undalis from cabbage fields infested with.h. undalis. Laboratory observed parasitism was 7.4%. Th.s is th. first record of Pristomerus pallidus parasitizing h.llula undalis from Senegal. Furth.rmore, studies on th. potential regulation of h.llula undalis under controlled and field conditions need to be evaluated for utilizing th.s parasitoid as a biocontrol agent against th. cabbage webworm. .

Morbidity and Mortality Related to Obstetrical Evacuations in a Country with.Limited Resources: Th. Case of th. Maternity Ward of th. Prefectural h.spital of Coyah. Guinea

Obstetric complications requiring evacuation are found all over th. world with.a h.gh.frequency in developing countries wh.re th.y are responsible for h.gh.fetal-maternal morbidity and mortality. Th. objectives of th.s study were to calculate th. frequency of obstetric evacuations in th. maternity ward of th. Coyah.prefectural h.spital, describe th. socio-demograph.c ch.racteristics of th. evacuated patients, identify th. main reasons for evacuation, determine th. means of transport used and specify th. maternal and fetal prognosis. Patients and Method: This was a prospective descriptive and analytical study conducted over a 6-month period (April 1-September 30, 2020) at the maternity ward of the Coyah prefectural hospital. All patients evacuated for complications of gravidopuerperium were included in the study. Results: We recorded 84 cases of obstetric evacuations out of a total of 2206 consultations, i.e. a frequency of 3.8%. The average age of the patients was 25.22 years with extremes of 15 and 45. Housewives (58.82%), nulliparous women (36.93%) and women with no education (64.29%) were the most numerous ones. No patient received medical transportation. More than half of the patients were evacuated by a nurse (51.21%). Hemorrhage in the last quarter was the main reason for evacuation. The average distance traveled by patients was 18.3 km with extremes of 12 and 68 km. The average transfer time was 63 min (1 h 3 minutes) with extremes of 20 min and 300 min (5 h). Maternal mortality was 5.95%. The perinatal mortality rate was 46.42%. No counter-referral was made. Conclusion:
