Reducing environmental pollution is a critical goal in global environmental economics and economic *** European Union(EU)faces environmental ch.llenges due to its development *** we present a compreh.nsive approach.to assess th. impact of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emissions,energy consumption(EC),population structure(POP),economy(GDP),and policies on th. environment with.n th. EU using th. environmental Kuznets curve(EKC).Our research.reveals th.t between 1990 and 2019,th. EU-27 experienced an increase of t1.18 million tonnes of oil equivalent(Mtoe)per year in energy consumption(ph.le CO_(2)emissions decreased by 24.25 million tonnes(Mt)per year(ph. h.gh.st reduction in CO_(2)emissions occurred in Germany(7.52 Mt CO_(2)annually),and th. lowest in Latvia(0.087 Mt CO_(2)annually).Th. empirical EKC analysis sh.ws an inverted-U sh.ped relationsh.p between GDP and CO_(2)emissions in th. ***,a 1%increase in GDP results in a 0.705%increase in carbon emission,wh.le a 1%increase in GDP2 leads to a 0.062%reduction in environmental pollution in th. long run(ph.se findings indicate th.t economic development with.n th. EU h.s reach.d a stage wh.re economic growth.positively impacts th. ***,th.s study provides insigh.s into th. effectiveness of environmental policies in mitigating degradation and promoting green growth.in th. EU 27 countries.

Meth.onine(Met) is an essential and first limiting amino acid in th. poultry diet th.t plays a significant role in ch.cken embryonic development and growth. Th. present study examined th. effect of in ovo injection of DL-Met and L-Met sources and genotypes on ch.cken embryonic-intestinal development and h.alth. Fertilized eggs of th. two genotypes, TETRA-SL layer h.brid(TSL)—commercial layer h.brid and h.ngarian Partridge colored h.n breed(h.C)—a native genotype, were randomly distributed into four treatments for each.genotype. Th. treatment groups include th. following: 1) control non-injected eggs(NoIn); 2) saline-injected(SaIn); 3) DL-Met injected(DLM); and 4) L-Met injected(LM). Th. in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development; after h.tch.ng, eigh. ch.cks per group were sacrificed, and th. jejunum was extracted for analysis. Th. results sh.wed th.t both.DLM and LM groups h.d enh.nced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width. villus h.igh., and villus area(P ared to th. control. Th. DLM group h.d significantly reduced crypt depth. glutath.one(GSh. content, glutath.one S-transferase 3 alph.(GST3), occludin(OCLN) gene expression and increased villus h.igh. to crypt depth.ratio in th. TSL genotype th.n th. LM group(P h. h.C genotype h.s overexpressed insulin-like growth.factor 1(IGF1) gene, tricellulin(MD2), occludin(OCLN),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1), and GST3 genes th.n th. TSL genotype(P h.se findings sh.wed th.t in ovo injection of Met enh.nced intestinal development, and function, with.genotypes responding differently under normal conditions. Genotypes also influenced th. expression of intestinal antioxidants, tigh. junction, and growth.related genes.

Single atom Cu-N-C catalysts for th. electro-reduction of CO_(2) to CO assessed by rotating ring-disc electrode

Th. electroch.mical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR) to controllable ch.micals is considered as a promising path.ay to store intermittent renewable energy. h.rein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(Cu-N-C) are successfully developed varying th. copper amount and th. nature of th. copper precursor, for th. efficient CO_(2)RR. Th. electrocatalytic performance of Cu-N-C materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(RRDE), tech.ique still rarely explored for CO_(2)RR. For comparison, products are also ch.racterized by online gas ch.omatograph. in a h.cell. Th. as-synth.sized Cu-NC catalysts are found to be active and h.gh.y CO selective at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M Kh.O_(3), wh.le h.(2) from th. competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. Rh.). Th. optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing Cu-N_(4) moieties exh.bits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h.(-1) at -0.9 V vs. Rh. with.a h.(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. Th.se results demonstrate th.t RRDE configuration can be used as a feasible approach.for identifying electrolysis products from CO_(2)RR.

Tuberculosis:an experience from Mycobacterium smears and culture analysis

Objective:Simple tests like direct smear of th. acid fast bacilli(AFB) and Mycobacterium culture could assist th. diagnosis of *** study is aimed at reviewing th. outcome of smears,culture results and contamination rate among specimens requested for AFB smear and Mycobacterium ***:Retrospective laboratory data analysis requesting for Mycobacterium culture from January 2005 till December 2006 was done in a tertiary teach.ng h.spital of Universiti Sains Malaysia,Kubang Kerian,Kelantan,***: Four h.ndred and sixty seven(36.6%) isolates grew from 1 277 *** th.se isolates,314 (67.2%) grew Mycobacterium tuberculosis,23(4.9%) grew Mycobacterium oth.r th.n tuberculosis and 38 (8.1%) grew *** th. *** cultures,165(52.5%) h.d growth.of more th.n 100 confluent colonies,wh.reas 39 cultures(12.4%) h.d growth.of less th.n 19 *** smear for AFB among smear positive cases sh.wed presence of more th.n 50 bacilli/line in 231(49.5%) cases and smear negative cases accounted for 63(13.5%).Among smear positive cases,291(94.5%) cultures grew Mycobacterium species and anoth.r 17(5.5%) cultures grew *** smear negative cases,32(62.7%) cultures grew Mycobacterium species and 19(37.3%) cultures grew ***:Th. results from data analysis of th. Objective To determine th. diagnostic yield of repeated screening for atrial fibrillation(AF)among geriatric *** A pragmatic prospective coh.rt study into applying opportunistic screening for AF with.a h.ndh.ld single lead ECG device(SLD)in a geriatric *** patients of 65 years old and older visiting th. geriatric outpatient clinic were eligible for inclusion.A 12 lead ECG was performed,followed by measurements with.th. SLD in 20 patients(5%)during follow up *** of th. SLD was 90.0%,specificity 99.0%,negative predictive value 99.7%,and positive predictive value 73.5%.Most patients(82%)with.AF were frail and 53%were severely *** Repeated screening in geriatric patients h.s a five times h.gh.r diagnostic yield th.n usual *** was easily combined with.usual *** of th. positive predictive value of 73.5%,it remains necessary to confirm AF with.a 12 lead ECG or 24-h.h.lter monitoring.

Objectives According to international observations,th. incidence of clinical autopsies is declining worldwide,plummeting below 5%in th. CFD Simulation of a h.drogen/argon Plasma Jet Reactor for Coal Pyrolysis

A Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) model was formulated for DC arc h.drogen/argon plasma jet reactors used in th. process of th. th.rmal h.2/ar plasma pyrolysis of coal to acetylene. In th.s model, fluid flow, convective h.at transfer and conjugate h.at conductivity are considered simultaneously. Th. error caused by estimating th. inner-wall temperature of a reactor is avoided. Th. th.rmodynamic and transport properties of th. h.drogen/argon mixture plasma system, wh.ch.are usually expressed by a set of discrete data, are fitted into expressions th.t can be easily implemented in th. program. Th. effects of th. turbulence are modeled by two standard k-εequations. Th. temperature field and velocity field in th. plasma jet reactor were calculated by employing SIMPLEST algorith.. Th. knowledge and insigh. obtained are useful for th. design improvement and scale-up of plasma reactors.
